Quotes of the day
posted at 9:40 pm on March 21, 2009 by Allahpundit
“A central aspect of the plan, which has already been announced by the administration, would give the government greater authority to take over and resolve problems at large troubled companies not now regulated by Washington, like insurance companies and hedge funds.
That proposal would, for instance, make it easier for the government to cancel bonus contracts like those given to executives at the American International Group, which have stoked a political furor. Under the proposal, the Treasury secretary would have the authority to seize and wind down a struggling institution after consulting with the president and upon the recommendation of two-thirds of the Federal Reserve board.”
***
“You take a look around you, the genuinely successful people that you see who you want to be did not check their individualism at the door when they started their work. They didn’t check their self-interests at the door, and they didn’t check their self-respect, and they didn’t turn over the belief in themselves to somebody else. That’s all I’m talking about and that’s under assault by this administration, which wants to control and limit freedom, ’cause the only way Obama can get the power he wants and the Democrats can get the power they want is if you willingly turn it over to them, by getting rid of your self-interest, your self-respect and holding your best interests at heart. Your best interests do not coincide with your government’s, especially now.”

Nanny state President Omamma.
jgapinoy on March 21, 2009 at 9:43 PM
OK, so let’s run him out of office. But then, look at the line of succession.

What a peculiar corner he is painting himself into…
He is getting everyone riled up with angst towards the banks.
What is he going to do when he must do TARP Two?
Will he fold like a card? Or lie like a shrew?
The people will catch on, as they eventually do!

Don’t worry about Nanny Pelosi ever getting closer than she is. If Joetox becomes POTUS, he’ll pick his VP. And Joetox wouldn’t last any longer than BHO.
jgapinoy on March 21, 2009 at 9:47 PM
Wow. You know what? With the Treas. Sec. being given a personal purse of hundreds of billions of dollars to do with what he sees fit, and with this new “power” being proposed where he can “seize” what he thinks is a “struggling” institution, I’m beginning to think it’s no accident that of all the appointees who had tax problems, he’s the only one who made it through at Treasury. All right, I will now take off the foil hat.
Weight of Glory on March 21, 2009 at 9:47 PM
Ah, no.
I bet they think by designating the Treasury Sectary that it’s just going to slide by because very president has one and so there is no agenda. And who thinks the Fed has been doing such a Cracker Jack job lately?

I was at WalMart tonight scavenging through their dwindling supply of ammo, and I ran into someone I know from the university. She works in housekeeping. She’s bought the Obama garbage, hook-line-and-sinker. “Why did President Bush do this to us?” My wife corrected her nicely before I had the chance to backhand her.

Incorrect. And the difference is huge. He is getting everyone riled up with angst towards a handful of executives. He is personalizing the crisis. That is right out of the communist handbook. As his chief of staff said, “never let a good crisis go to waste”. He is distracting the public by turning any anger they have at their financial situation into a net positive for him by distilling and focusing their anger into class warfare aimed at “the rich”. Classic pincer movement for socialist revolutions. The socialists want to take over the banks for their own purposes, but demonize the private sector individuals who work at them, also for their own purposes. It’s Marxism 101.

“We’re No Angels” (Humphry Bogart)
“Mr. Blandings Builds his Dream House”
“Rear Window” (wont calm your nerves but will take your mind off Obama)
“Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”
“The Quiet Man” (one of the best movies ever ever made)
“She Wore a Yellow Ribbon”
“Goonies”
“Ghostbusters”

Look, Madoff is the perfect example of why the Government is incapable of effectively handling anything much beyond collecting taxes and the military.
The SEC, staffed to the brim with well educated lawyers and accountants was handed the Madoff case on a silver platter. They had everything they needed to catch him around 2000 and it was handed to them in fine detail. All they needed to do was a little work, like simply confirm a single trade and they didn’t even do that. So, anybody who thinks the Government can solve anything is living in a dream world since they can’t even find a $50B fraud when in is repeatedly pointed out to them.

President TelePrompter is planning on limiting executive pay beyond banks.
No longer in office, Democrats like Daschle and Bill Clinton will have to forgo their big pay bonuses including limo’s.
There will be much less big contributions from rich liberals elites to Democrat campaigns.
Hollywood executives, producers and actors will no longer make huge piles of money.
Sports executives will have to curb mega signing bonuses.
President TelePrompter will have to return his $500,000 book signing bonus he got 2 days before taking office.
Curb all the bonuses and tax revenues-Federal and Local- will fall by 75%. Can state and feds afford this now?
One wonders if President TelePrompter is in over his head….

Once again, let me ask; does this truly concern us? When the f@#$ does the serious revolution begin, cause if this guy/administration doesn’t warrant it, then nothing does, and just STFU cause you’re just a whining, foppish weasel, or things really aren’t as bad as some say they are.
Personally, I think they’re worse than some say they are, and the time for literal violent revolution is here; not just simpering sackless whimpering and hoping things go better in the next election (they won’t).
