After this, AIG will only be able to hire citizens of other countries, who are outside of our Congress’ reach.

I’d feel more concerned about 90% ex post facto taxes if those weren’t the same bozos who ran the outfit into a crater.

I just fired off an e-mail to Walter Jones about how proud he must be for sticking it to those guys at AIG. I did mention how he trampled the Constitution, Article 1 Section 9, No Bill of Attainer or ex post facto Law shall be passed, to do it. If he didn't have a copy of the Constitution I would be glad to sent one.

Unfortunately, I really don't think we do. We have become so complacent and some incredibly destructive things are going to destroy our once great nation.

Unless, of course, if the miracle of great action by true patriots does happen.

First let me make it clear that any corporate executive cockroach that takes bonuses (Merrill Lynch was even worse) either with bailout money or when they know their company is soon to go bankrupt, should be unceremoniously hung from the nearest lamp post.

But having said that I have nothing but contempt for Democrasts and Democrat-Lites (RINO Republicans) who voted for this legislation.

1 It is obviously unconstitutional (bill of attainder) since it is an after-the-fact punishment tax.
2 It shifts the blame from the Democrats good buddies at AIG squarely onto AIGs shoulders where the Democrats (who for years have accepted bribes-er "campaign contributions" from) can now accuse these executives of greed and make pious and pompous speeches about "corporate criminals."
3 But mainly it is diversionary tactic to direct attention away from a $170 billion boondoggle by concentrating on a miniscule (.001) portion of it.
4 By excoriating greedy AIG leaders you also divert attention from the fact that Chris Dodd (chief recipient of AIG corporate contributions ($103,100) repaid his buddies by putting corporate bonuses back into the rescue bailout and then blamed the White House for pressuring him when caught flat footed in a lie.

The truth is that AIG executives and Democratic congressmen were partners in crime not only for the ludicrous bailouts but for our current economic crisis.

Dammit - Eric Cantor voted for it? Is he trying to be just another greedy self-serving Congressman?

I'm tired of the GOP trying to "get out in front of the outrage" as opposed to admitting that Congress should've done a better job if they wanted to prevent bonuses.

Into the way back machine: 2005, Congress passes an apparently unconstitutional bill to mollify an angry public and later lives to regret it.

Things must look really bleak for Congress to be pulling this kind of stuff.

More reason why taxpayers should be more than a little scared. : )))

<blockquote><strong>Initially I thought the tax would be a nifty way out of the bill of attainder problem</strong>, but Tom Maguire makes a sterling point about precedents. First they came for the bonuses…</blockquote> That surprises me Allah, I thought you would clearly see that this is unconstitutional.

What is really bothersome is not only that this law specific individuals and is expost facto, but that so many Republicans supported this.

When are the people here going to understand that both parties are screwing us and to have faith in the current two parties is simply a road to socialism.

Wow. This is great. It's a win-win for Congress. They get to "express their outrage", and either the courts will strike it down as unconstitutional, or it'll be upheld, and they'll be able to tax anybody they don't like.

I have decided that Obama manages by distraction. It's all he knows. It's all he blamed others for while he was campaigning, and now it's all his office is manufacturing. The American people are falling for it too. If they continue to create distractions with Rush, Santelli, Cramer, faux AIG bonus outrage, we'll never be able to track how really poorly he's performing as a president. Brilliant strategy, actually. The sheeple continue to have the wool pulled over their eyes.

Yeah, Obama should not make fun of the Special Olympics.

But Obama did say "Tim Geithner, you are doing a <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RO2xi0uLnj8" rel="nofollow">heck of a job!</a>"

<i>Nuiance!</i>

It is not faux outrage over stupid things Democrats say, is is real outrage over their hypocrisy that needs to be called out.

Maybe Allah will go back to Patterico (or maybe even Protein Wisdom) and no be so outraged as explain what Obama's <em>intent</em> was.

There you go goopers, some of your own people voted for this.So as you slam the Democrats you better save some powder for your own party. People aren't mad at the Democrats, their mad at Wall Street greed. Bush broke the country, Obama and the Democrats will put it back together without your help. Go listen to Rush, he is your brain.

90% huh? So in other words they get to keep 10% of the bonus or $14,600,000 of taxpayer money because democrats don't read the laws they vote for. Of course, this is only true if this special tax is not ruled unconstitutional. The actual cost to taxpayers will also include legal fees, win or lose, as well as the salaries of congres to spend time debating and voting on this special tax.
