A fiery palate cleanser from this afternoon’s Studio B. Note the ringing populist note on which it ends. Good enough for Glenn Beck, good enough for Shep!

Methinks Shep is looking to steal Beck’s thunder.
He can’t do it nearly as well.
MadisonConservative on March 18, 2009 at 4:07 PM
I’m not looking. Shep is a moron.

shep tried to use his bigboy voice lol
trailortrash on March 18, 2009 at 4:08 PM
I have a hard time taking Shep seriously. I really believe Glenn Beck when he acts like this. I feel like Shep is just trying to act like Glenn Beck. Frankly, I think Shep could replace Keith Olbermann and not miss a beat. I have a hard time believing that he believes a word out of his own mouth.

You’re yes then you’re no
You’re in then you’re out
You’re up then you’re down
You’re wrong when it’s right
It’s black and it’s white
We fight, we break up
We kiss, we make up
(You) You don’t really want to stay, no
(You) But you don’t really want to go
You’re hot then you’re cold
You’re yes then you’re no
You’re in and you’re out
You’re up and you’re down
Why does this song make me think of Shep during this interview?
lorien1973 on March 18, 2009 at 4:10 PM
Shep did a great job explaining why everyone is so angry.

For once I must say that Shep nailed it clean. Named names and gave facts, wish there was more of that in the news.

It’s amazing what a few patriots with pitchfolks and firebrands can talk the media into.

I usually find him annoying, this makes up for it some.
gsherin on March 18, 2009 at 4:14 PM
It’s about damn time someone in the media gets it and reports it.

* Kudos to Shep! He is Spot On!
Hal-9000 on March 18, 2009 at 4:14 PM
Bottom line. The Govmnt dropped $700 bil on these banks and didn’t even get a receipt.
AIG may have passed billions through to these banks, but you can bet they scrutinized every red cent. That’s more than the Govmnt can say.

Who the heck cares? It’s thunder, and we need more of it, from people with loud voices, with big audiences.
Give it to em!!

Walls are tumblin’ down all over the place… and quit looking gift horse’s in mouth… Shep’s a dork, but it’s all part of the momentum going our way for a freakin’ change, eh?
Shivas Irons on March 18, 2009 at 4:17 PM
Shep,
I like it. But Beck is more of a showman with the outrage.
Keep it up though.

Actually….that was pretty awesome, Shep.
Mommypundit on March 18, 2009 at 4:17 PM
By no means am I a fan of Shepard Smith but today he hit a home run. Great job setting the record straight regarding the AIG bonuses and pointing out who is ACTUALLY to blame. Today’s hearing is certainly a horse and pony show. Shame on our representatives. Dobb and Frank ought to be forced out of office – for starters.
Wasn’t it Dobb and Obama who took the most money from AIG?
Interesting.
Great job Shep!
sinsing on March 18, 2009 at 4:17 PM
I happen to like Shep. I saw this outburst – quite startling, and totally enjoyable.
uncivilized on March 18, 2009 at 4:17 PM
I think he summed that up rather well. Now, Shep, about Global Warming… They are doing the same thing there. Attempting to pull the wool over the eyes of the ignorant in order to bolster their political power and limit individual liberty. But credit where credit is due. In this clip, you are on the money Shep.
Zetterson on March 18, 2009 at 4:18 PM

Zetterson on March 18, 2009 at 4:19 PM
I’ll take Shep over Beck any day. I’m equally worried about all that The One has accomplished in 60(!) days and all that he’ll do in the following 1000, but crying on camera and starting a populist army just seems silly and misguided.
But what do I know? I also love Allah more than Ed.
Trent1289 on March 18, 2009 at 4:19 PM
Preach Shep preach. This is what the public needs to hear. That a large part of the problem is the government itself. Once the government gets out, the market will correct. A good byproduct will be less of the Barny show!
bej on March 18, 2009 at 4:19 PM
Isn’t part of the “crisis” to create even more “crisis” to create the ultimate “crisis” (read:revolution) to incited public schism and, eventually, iron-fist rule? I had these suspicions before the election…now I can’t believe it’s happening. We are watching a bigger take over than we imagined.
Mommypundit on March 18, 2009 at 4:19 PM
We need this momentum to continue until our reps are dangling from a pitchfork, confessing their own fault in this.

I’ll go on record as FOR the bonuses. Without them, AIG would have shed even more employees and been in even worse shape.
Obama/Pelosi/Reid just need a stooge that they can march through the crowds for a public lynching to distract everyone from their own theivery and sell-out of america
I need to get some more popcorn, I’m going through it much faster than I had anticipated with this administration

gatorboy on March 18, 2009 at 4:25 PM
Seriously what Shep said was deeply theraputic.
I was so mad at that idiot congressmen from NY who seemed to think he could glance at a contract claim to be a lawyer and know so much more than the ones actually hired to give professional opinions to the Cleanup committee hired to make the tough calls.
I was livid at his attitude considering congress’s part in all this. He and all the Democrats are trying to scapegoat AIG for their own failures. And they will likely cause suicides and murders with their reckless passing the buck.
This whole thing is a total disgrace and everyone who voted for that bill allowing bonuses, then turned around and blamed people trying to follow the congress’s own laws should resign.
CONGRESS WROTE THE LAW. AIG FOLLOWED THE LAW!!!
It would be so much easier to fing new congresspeople to replace these clowns than to replace the people at AIG.

“This is their fault.”
You’re damn right it is their fault! This mess is 110% entirely Congress’ fault. That we allow such incompetent, corrupt nitwits run this country is mind-boggling to me. Shep Smith was right on another point he made – this is getting worse and we are all going to pay for it. We are all going to reap the retarded crop sown by our federal government. And they still try to use their jedi mind tricks and say that only they can fix the problem, that they are outraged, that they have our best interest at heart…and even more sadly/outrageously people buy it.
. . . as I continue to prepare for the collapse.

Just wondering why the last CEO of AIG was not in the hot.
It’s his contracts.
getalife on March 18, 2009 at 4:29 PM
Actually, it might not be a fact about Chris Dodd. I am not a Dodd fan, but it sounds like Dodd tried to stop it, along with other companies recieving bailout cash. It was geithner and summners, I think that pushed this into the Bill, they might have done it through Dodd, but the Obama adminstration pushed this through.
http://letters.salon.com/opinion/greenwald/2009/03/17/dodd/view/?show=all
So in the end it is even worse for Obama, since it was his own administration that put this through.
Gotta, love the mock chest thumping from obama, when it is his fault it happened.
profgubler on March 18, 2009 at 4:30 PM
Really, getalife? That is the best talking point the leftist web cabal could come up with today? Well, I’m not really all that surprized…Obama doesn’t give you much to work with afterall. Pretty hard to defend Curly and Mo these days.

Knucklehead on March 18, 2009 at 4:33 PM
I haven’t watched Sheperd Smith in a long time, but he is absolutely dead on with his comments. And I didn’t think he was trying to pull off a Glenn Beck impression. If anything, he came off rather more level-headed than Beck.
Bottom line is, Shep is right and this message has to be shouted from the mountain top (not the one David Brooks refers too either).

mommypundit: “Isn’t part of the “crisis” to create even more “crisis” to create the ultimate “crisis””
The big problem with Alinskyites is all they can do is rabble and rouse and run for whatever power animates them – so you’re correct.
And, for a little while in the scheme of things, we’re stuck with the Carl Lewis of politics – a guy who only knows how to run for the love. He’s in SoCal right now for two days doing two townhalls and Leno… then jetting back to D.C. to do a primetime news conference while filling the inbetweens with teleprompter watering sessions in Rose Garden.
The guy is a Dick Morris wetdream on steroids… and I think he’d better look into the laws of overexposure… cause they are immutable.
Shivas Irons on March 18, 2009 at 4:34 PM

Good question. Ask the head of the House committee conducting the hearing–a Democrat from Pennsylvania.
BuckeyeSam on March 18, 2009 at 4:35 PM
This truly is a distraction. If AIG didn’t get their bailout, the market would have done its job.
We need to be angry about the bailout, the Dodd amendment and the ever present Barney Frank.
This is the outrage. Not the bonuses. They are just the fallout of the bailout.
HornetSting on March 18, 2009 at 4:36 PM
Glenn Beck did a better job of getting to the bottom of why they’re blowing this “bonus” smokescreen.
and why is Shep wearing so much makeup?
popularpeoplesfront on March 18, 2009 at 4:36 PM
Actually Olympia Snowe was on with sweet Norah and said a provision was put into the bill to stop this compensation, and “some one took it out”.
The grandstanding by the Democrats is just too funny if it wasn’t so serious. Talk about a distraction. Gietner and Obama are both in deep shit over this mess. Watch for the tracks to be covered soon. Oh, and Dodd and Frank should both be under investigation or resign asap.
Although Shepard Smith did a fair job here, he’s still an idiot.

WASHINGTON!? You ignorant liberal moron! The domoRATF**CKS are what is wrong with Washington! The same minions of Satan that you shilled for last election cycle.
People, this is a perfect example of the psychological derangement of the liberal mind. They need to be hospitalized.

getalife on March 18, 2009 at 4:38 PM
Silly argument? It caused problems for both Obama and the Irish PM recently. As long as Maureen Dowd is starting to mock Obama’s use of it, it’s not a dead argument.
amerpundit on March 18, 2009 at 4:39 PM

I get a kick out of Shep, he’s a lot more interesting to listen to than award winning anchors like
CouricColic. And he’s right, what is going on in Washington? Every day it seems we find out something more sinister is going on. And I see Obama is back to labeling a major outrage a distraction. What an idiot.scalleywag on March 18, 2009 at 4:39 PM

So he having the same position as the party he’s drawn to ideologically means he’s leading it. By that logic, Ariana Huffington and Joe Klein are leading the Democratic Party.
