Jokes Karl, “How soon ’till he turns up on Glenn Beck?” Pretty soon, I figure: His last video drew more than 2.5 million hits and this one’s bound to do big business as well, although it leaves me ice cold. So ambitious is his agenda, in fact, that I half-suspect it’s a parody of enraged populist demagoguery. Indifferent politicians, taxation without representation, jobs being outsourced, national suicide, “wake up, America!”, more money for troops’ salaries, universal service — all of it sprinkled with rhetoric about “the almighty wrath of we the people” and marching on Washington and a second American revolution and buying a gun if things don’t work out. As if there aren’t enough destabilizing threats to worry about, now there’s this guy and his contingent to fret over if Congress doesn’t snap to attention when they get those tea bags in the mail. Exit question: Is this Thomas Paine or Robespierre?

Congress and the retarded administration who are bent on marxist policies and general liberal idiocy are the source of this problem. In the summer of 1977 some farmers in western Oklahoma joined representatives from southeastern Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, and Kansas to discuss their mutual problems. They talked about staging a farm strike and refusing to plant any crops if Congress did not pass legislation to raise farm prices. Farmers sharply criticized the recently passed Food and Agriculture Act of 1977 for doing nothing to help farmers as they struggled with low prices and heavy debts. An office was set up in Springfield, a small town in southeastern Colorado, to publicize the organization and its demands. By late summer the movement had spread to about twenty states. Members demanded prices equal to 100 percent of parity, prices that were considered favorable to farmers in relation to nonfarm prices.

Farmers in this movement concluded that only by direct and dramatic action could they achieve their goal. On September 22, 1977, some two thousand angry farmers drove their tractors and trucks around the auditorium in Pueblo, Colorado, where U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Robert Bergland was speaking. The protesters demanded federal legislation to raise farm prices. Many of the trucks carried Oklahoma license plates. This was only a prelude to huge tractorcades around the nation. Hundreds of farmers drove their tractors to Amarillo, Texas, and in and around Plains, Georgia, Pres. Jimmy Carter’s hometown. In Atlanta, Georgia, they drove their tractors up the steps of the state capitol, and in Washington, D.C., on January 18, 1978, tractors and trucks damaged the grounds of the National Mall.

Actually, I would propose that a serious mark of the people’s respect for our elected officials might be had through the presentation of new suits of clothing to our politicians by the people. Considering the latest political situation, and the responses and actions of our politicians to said affairs, I would consider that the fashion which would best represent the people’s opinions of their elected class might be made from warm tar and feathers, with a scenic tour of the city of Washington provided by placing said politicians upon rails, and thence propelling them via the shoulders of the electorate to a suitable place outside of the city limits. Thereupon the political class might be enjoined to remain in quiet contemplation of the corruption which placed them hither.

Certainly, their is historical precedence for such actions.

Has anyone read “Tipping Point”. I don’t think people are being insightful organizing and protesting, it is our right as free men. In my short lifetime I have noticed that the Liberals and “unfairly treated” such as the farmers mentioned above are the ones who protest for more legislation. It now seems that there are conservatives, of whom it is generally against their nature, that are starting large rallies and protests (tea parties). I think it is a telling trend that shows there is a majority segment of the population that has not and is not currently being represented.

hey progressoverpeace, the American people voted in this administration. If the American people don’t like this administration they can vote the Dems out in 2010 and Obama in 2012. What part of civics don’t you understand? We put up with Bush for 8 years. You’ve had 2 months of Obama, get used to it.

The man is simply versing what most of us have been feeling for quite a while now. If we’ve no stomach for a grass roots rebellion, I think we may as well kiss this country goodbye because they’re not handing this country back without one. Our forefathers foresaw this. That is why they gave us the constitution they did.

Don’t just blame Obama, look to his handlers, they’re the real force we’re up against. Obama’s merely a tool.
