Theoretically, yes. Practically, if we follow that rule and they don’t, we get bad judges shoved down our throats repeatedly.

No, we should not smear, but we should point out everything that’s wrong with the nominee, loudly and often, and filibuster at every opportunity. Only drop the filibuster if they offer some worthwhile concessions somewhere.

It’s a lot of thankless work for us, but on the plus side, the left constantly overreaches, and you might be surprised how often really bad nominees get sunk.

At the very least, people will remember that elections have consequences.

Yes, but Obama knows where this waste if skin stands, that’s why he appointed him. And, since when is the media accurate in their coverage of such things? They better start being accurate or they will all be panhandling on the street.

Make sure you know what you are talking about before you start typing.

Only the United States Supreme Court has justices. The U.S. Courts of Appeals have judges.

Obama cannot appoint a judge to the Court of Appeals. He can only nominate a person to become a judge. The Senate must approve the nomination before the person becomes a judge.

Addendum: Lesson learned from doing a Google search for Judge Hamilton’s head shot: Never do a Google image search for “David Hamilton” with SafeSearch off. Eeesh.

As a matter of course, presidents should be allowed great leeway in judicial appointments.

Did the left extend this courtesy to Bush?

Based on the precendent set the last few years, we should be fighing tooth and nail against any appointee that Obama makes that is left of center – and this hard left extremist would be a darn good choice.
