Finally, this is starting to surface in these discussions. 0 is obviously the perfect stalking horse for the International Criminal set, as exemplified by the execrable George Soros. After several generations acceding to the insanity of leftism starting with the lockstep individualism of the ’60s rocknroll activists, Americans were seen as too weak-willed to stand up to another round of being called racist, and, y’know, unhip.

The election proved Soros, Billary, BernienBill, et al correct – not to mention H.L. Mencken when he said “You’ll never go broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public.”

Never trust anybody under 30 – unless they can prove they know what they’re talking about, and know why.

They do seem to be in some significant disarray. Unfortunately, with some on the Republican side defending the AIG bonuses, to varying degrees, and others making so light of them, so do Republicans. It is almost as if the AIG bonuses were a detonator gift from God and some Republicans just start petting it or sticking it in their mouths.

On the second page of the column Fallout: Dems in disarray over AIG I saw this:

Republican aides also complained that a provision that would have taxed bonuses for firms accepting government rescue funds was stripped from the stimulus by Democrats. The amendment would have forced AIG to pay nearly $58 million in taxes on top executive bonuses.

Sens. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) and Olympia Snowe (R-Maine), the original sponsors of that proposal, sent a letter to Geithner on Tuesday, urging him to take a second look at their amendment.

They should have read it before they voted on it!

Instapundit notes the Dems are already paying for their ownership of the Stimulus.

I GUESS IT’S TOO BAD NOBODY READ IT BEFORE IT PASSED, THEN: The Stimulus Bill Explicitly Guarantees Contractual Bonuses Executed Before February 11. Yeah, I know, I already mentioned this. But it’s a point worth making again — they rushed this stinker through, and now it’s biting them on the ass. Good.

INC on March 18, 2009 at 1:52 AM

This is, without a doubt, the most competent display of incompetence ever.

If there should be an encore it will have to be awesome.

Yoop on March 18, 2009 at 1:53 AM

As does Moe Lane:

With all the news about about the AIG bonuses, there are a couple of things worth remembering.

First, the GOP voted against the stimulus. Why? Because it won’t stimulate anything and the Democrats decided to rush it through without letting anyone read it.

This is what happens when you write legislation in secret then rush it through.

Second, will federal prosecutors indict Chris Dodd? Dodd sneaked in a provision to protect AIG bonuses. Congress, via Dodd’s last minute amendment, specifically granted AIG permission to give the bonuses.

Dodd, you will recall, got more money from AIG than any other elected official.

Obama was the second largest recipient. Did Obama know about the provision?

The GOP should just be sitting back and watching this mess play out. They voted against the Dodd provision. They voted against the stimulus.

The Democrats own this. They own the bonuses. They own AIG. Let them deal with it.

Collins, Snowe and Specter own this as well.

No wonder the Dems were so angry the R’s wouldn’t vote for it and give them some bipartisan cover.

INC on March 18, 2009 at 1:54 AM

This is beyond amazing. Is there no sanity in America anymore?

Oh and by the way. No one had better tell me Bush was incompetent ever again. Incompetence has been re-defined by Barack Obama in a way that I hope we will never have to suffer again. And I hope will pass soon.

I want to see some crow eating in this country!!!! Man alive this is unbelievable!

Give me a good old cowboy with manure on his boots anytime over this urban pile of crap that flows freely from the mouths of the ones in charge today.

There is only one word for this: corruption. Putrid, stinking decay.

A bit harsh, but I think I get the underlying point that those of us who voted for Sarah are equally to blame because we did not work hard enough to defeat the Marxist scumbag. Still, I think “complacent fools” is more descriptive than “weak cowardly scum”. Also, labels are simply a means of identifying people and ideas in shorthand. I’m proudly conservative because I believe that means something. Your contention that it is “dumbass” is your own label. BTW, shouting (using all caps) just proves that those who can’t raise the level of their argument will raise the volume.

Holy cow, Bubba Billy Carter, where are you when we need you? Who would have ever thought it?

Lincoln Cadillac on March 18, 2009 at 6:53 AM

Obama during the campaign said NAFTA would be unilaterally renegotiated. His third bill unilaterally renegotiates NAFTA by banning the NAFTA pilot truck program in an Omnibus Spending Porkulus Bill rammed through by the democraps. Then he said he didn’t read the bill. But he also signed the bill in less than five days breaking another of his promises that the bill would be on the WH website before signing. Then he says that he didn’t read the fine print. Maybe if we put all bills on his teleprompter he would get around to reading them? Maybe the voters who voted for “the First Black President” should have read the fine print too? No? They were many of the same people who bought those mortgages that cratered the economy.

If I listened to the rightwing blowhards I would believe Obama is the antichrist.

athensboy on March 18, 2009 at 7:18 AM

He’s far too stupid to be the antichrist. The Precedent is borderline retarded. But he has a nice baritone. Thanks.

Palin’s job approval ratings is way higher than BO’s.

Hey HA folks. On block leave here in VA before the big jump jump across the puddle again. I heard Rush on the radio on the drive up just long enough to hear him talk about obama actually “pardoning” the President or CEO of AIG (friend of his) while his administration was harping on the bonuses. Anyone have more info about that?

strike one jump.

I think the whole outrage about the bonuses is just more Red Herrings myself. I haven’t been able to keep up on the news a lot this week, but it sounds like more manufactured outrage against Big Business that this administration wants to turn the general population against.

I’m not sure if I like the idea of execs getting bonuses in a failing company “if”, if the bucks came from the bailout. What I am sure I “don’t” like is the government threatening a company to disclose who got bonuses by sundown. How far can they reach? What is the limit?

You do fine all by yourself. :-)

Not sure if internet access in Kandahar is better now. I was in Bagram and I had it in my B-hut (shipping crate). When I visited Kandahar before, I had to use internet in the MWR hooch.

Did you hear about this AIG “pardon”?

athensboy on March 18, 2009 at 7:18 AM

Then tuck in, buttercup. Have I gotta nursery rhyme for you!

Once Upon A Time, Obama the Simpleton cried “Why must we hurt Wolves, who are only trying to survive under the horrible regime of the delicious Sheep & Geese? The Wolves just need a talking to!” So having grown fat and stupid under the watchful eye of the Wolfslayer $hrubhitlerburton, the villagers made Obama their new official Wolf-Talker.

The villagers went back to their jobs, feeling quite proud they had chosen the first-ever town fool to be a wolf-catcher. Yet while the Simpleton was supposed to be hunting for Wolves, he snuck over to the Money-Lender’s cottage and traded the Village Constitution and the Village Treasury for some Magic Waffles.

When the villagers came looking for their pay for working all day in the hayfields, they discovered the only thing left was a few copper slugs. “Where is our silver?!” They cried aloud. Obama looked around nervously, but then said, “I have given the treaury to the Money-Lender, because if I didn’t, there wouldn’t be any more hay jobs!”

So the people shrugged. They were sad they didn’t have silver, but at least they would still have jobs.

The Money-Lender then took a huge sack of silver and gave it to his son, who bought a new horsecart made in Germany and a slew of other costly goods from the village over the hill.

“Outrageous!” Cried the village suckers. Now Obama the Softhead was very nervous. He had already eaten the Magic Waffles, and was starting to get angry looks from the villagers, who were getting less fat and stupid by the day.

“I am shocked!” Declared Obama, “give me that silver, you sneak!” But the villagers didn’t believe him, and started to chase him with hayforks. They chased him all the way to the river. But since Obama had never stopped the Wolves like he was supposed to do, a huge pack lept upon them and gobbled up the village. Then they gobbled up the sheep and the geese, and the Money-Lender, and finaly, Obama the Doughbrain.

And The Wolves Lived Happily Ever After… until Israel nuked the canines out of them.

The End

!!!!!!!!!!

I just watched Barney Frank get interviewed by some nitwit on CBS this morning. It was like watch a goose in a dogfight. She was an ignoramus.

She asked about the bonuses and Frank went off talking about Bernanke and the Fed giving $85 billion to AIG. He said NOTHING about the bonuses and she didn’t bother to ask why he voted to guarantee the AIG bonuses.

She was attractive, but she is an idiot.

drjohn on March 18, 2009 at 8:17 AM

President Obama and his top economic advisers scrambled to calm a nationwide furor {that they created} on Monday over bonuses paid

What’s a community disorganizer again?

I just read found and read the whole transcript on Rush’s page. I think what he was trying to say is that obama made a de facto pardon of this guy Liddy by declaring he just came on board after the bonuses were contracted last year. Not a real pardon, but I get what he means.

I did read in the same transcript and a couple articles googling though that said the administration and really everyone that follows finances knew a year ago even before the melt-down that AIG was contracted for these bonuses. I’m convinced this is just a distraction because of the mounting public sentiment against the bailout bucks and the tea parties.

And the media is firmly behind them. I was on a treadmill in a gym (with all the senior citizens here in the resort) and the CNN talking head was just beside himself about getting the government involved and stopping the bonuses from being paid.

hawkdriver on March 18, 2009 at 8:24 AM

You’re right, it is a distraction, a cover your ass distraction. Somebody must have whispered in BO’s ear, hey dude… The American people are getting really pissed about the new tax sitution and if you dont do something fast, loud and very distracting they are going to blame you.

doriangrey on March 18, 2009 at 8:32 AM

I’m convinced this is just a distraction because of the mounting public sentiment against the bailout bucks and the tea parties.

Big time. And to divert attention from the really sh!tty legislation they’ve been ramming through Congress, too. It’s just amazing, really.

The real story should come out. I’m surprised that he House Republicans aren’t reminding people that they fought all this junk, taking heat the whole time.

Stay safe, hawkdriver.

Americans are a bunch of pathetic lazy cowards….you’re all an utter POS disgrace to the legacy of the Founding Fathers.

Suck It Up you losers. Everything that happens is your fault. It doesn’t matter if you think of yourself as a “conservative” or whatever dumbass label you wish to self-apply….YOU ARE TO BLAME.

YOU ARE ALL WEAK COWARDLY SCUM THAT HAVE BETRAYED AMERICA

LimeyGeek on March 17, 2009 at 11:36 PM

A typical dull retort of the moronic American netizen.

I am an American. You are not.

I was not born in America, yet I am still an American, and you are not.

I doubt you are capable of understanding the significance of this assertion.

LimeyGeek on March 17, 2009 at 11:43 PM

I seriously doubt that you are either.

Barack Obama — the classic example of “hooters on a bull”. Useless.

jdflorida on March 18, 2009 at 8:55 AM

I seriously doubt that you are either.

doriangrey on March 18, 2009 at 8:50 AM

I’ve read LGs posts. I’m sure he’s what he says he is. I’ve found in my travels a lot of folks who came to America from other countries knowing that this once great nation was the last bastion of hope against a world that was growing more and more into a socialist/marxist state. I am increasingly sharing his disappointment.

People who come to sites like this and voice their opinion and sometimes outright opposition to the growing danger of the US turning too may be the last American patriots. I would gladly stand next to any person who wanted to preserve what we were, regardless of whether they were born here or not.
