Palin’s office to GOP: Er, she didn’t agree to keynote your fundraiser yet
posted at 8:05 pm on March 17, 2009 by Allahpundit
The state of the Republican leadership in microcosm: They can’t even coordinate their own events anymore.
The NRSC and NRCC announcement of Palin’s leading role in the event made national news. The Associated Press distributed the story and it appeared on the Web sites of the Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, Dallas Morning News and USA Today, among many others.
[Spokesman Bill] McAllister said Palin asked him why The Associated Press was reporting that she was going to do this. “I pointed out the (National Republican Senatorial Committee) press release and she was like, no,” he said.
NRSC spokesman Brian Walsh said Monday night that the staff of the governor’s national political action committee, SarahPAC, had confirmed Palin would indeed speak at the Senate-House dinner.
“The committees have confirmed this with the governor’s political staff at SarahPAC, not her official staff in Juneau, so it’s understandable why there may be a miscommunication here,” Walsh said.
Momentarily forgetting that Sarahcuda can do no wrong, Matt Lewis reads SarahPAC’s snafu as a commentary on her “leadership and organizational competency” and “merely the latest example of a sloppy mistake.” Be merciful to him. If you’d prefer to argue that the buck stops here there, try blaming one of the advisors listed by WaPo instead. Exit question: Surely a governor with a 64 percent approval rating can sneak away for a few days in June to resurrect her party’s fundraising prospects, can’t she?

Yeah, I hate them trolls as well. We should all sing from the same hymnals and goose step to the same drummer.
Joey’s definition of a troll: A person who does not believe Sarah Palin is the 2nd coming of Ronald Reagan….or, in The Wall’s case, somebody who thinks Sarah Palin has ethical and intelligence issues.
The Wall on March 17, 2009 at 9:35 PM
I second that motion….

I am a passionate supporter of Sarah Palin. I said what I did to get a reaction from an Alaskan who perhaps could set the record straight on what the lay of the land is like up there. Thank you very much.

If responding to smears/distortions with facts “drives people away” … I pray for the country

Not to hijack this excellent thread, but I do have a question:
Question: Who would lose in a Sarah Palin/ Meghan McCain debate?
Answer: The audience
The Wall on March 17, 2009 at 9:39 PM
is that not the definition???
alexraye on March 17, 2009 at 9:39 PM
and I don’t care if the smear comes from the right of the left.
I’m tired of leaving “our wounded on the battlefield” because we don’t want to stir up some trouble.

“right or the left” obviously
joey24007 on March 17, 2009 at 9:40 PM
If you are going to speak in tongues, could you at least have the courtesy of providing the interpretation thereof?
The Wall on March 17, 2009 at 9:41 PM
That’s true, but that’s not a bad thing. Trolls don’t get banned unless they get way out of line, hi-jack threads, use a lot of profanity, or engage in constant personal attacks without adding to the discussion and that’s the way it should be in my opinion. Trolls get the discussion started sometimes and I for one rather enjoy wrestling with them. I actually think we’ve had a few conversions here, some of our older troll seem to have move further to the right and that’s what its all about.
It could actually get pretty boring here without a few trolls. Most of our trolls are respectful (not always) but for the most part they know they will get banned if they just spew garbage all the time. Allah and Ed are fair enough in that regard. But I understand your frustration with Allah, he often name calls and bashes the most conservative of the GOP. Allah is not a conservative, I sometime refer to him as the troll in charge.
Maxx on March 17, 2009 at 9:41 PM
I guess there isn’t much in between. I know why I like her and think she has a bright future if she wants it. The antipathy is perplexing, however. I’d think going from zero to Guv would be something everyone would admire, fulfilling the American dream, even if one doesn’t agree with her policies. Instead, by doing so (and being a conservative) she has offended millions? It’s a head-scratcher to me.

Move it to the oil fields of ANWAR and give the RINOs’ a look at what a barren, mosquito infected, tundra, full of enough oil to drag the US out of its’ economic collapse looks like then ask which ones want to stand in the way of developement in favor of Global warming baloney. Maybe they could even get a peak at what an authentic Air Force installation protecting us from Russian meddling looks like while there.

Fair enough, I guess. Your links, etc. are helpful. My only motive in cautioning you is that sometimes we can get too wrapped up in a person/cause we believe in, and get a little blind to flaws.
From where I sit, looks like AP likes the high-comment topics and probably has some personal aversion to Palin. Don’t know if it’s faith, populism or if he simply doesn’t think she can win, but it looks like he views her from a “glass half-empty” perspective in most of his posts.
Sometimes, reading your comments I wonder if you get a little overzealous in defending her. She reminds me of one of my strong-willed sisters, and I know what my sister would say if I defended her like you do Sarah here: She’d tell me to sit down and shut up, she can take care of herself.

Bishop on March 17, 2009 at 9:55 PM
She’s done that, but it just doesn’t break through the MSM wall of silence. Her defenders have to make her statements go viral on the Web in order for the word to get out.
For instance, there is still a rampant false meme out there that Palin supports abstinence-only sex education – it rears its head everywhere whenever Bristol gets in the news. Totally bogus. These things have to be fought everywhere they crop up or they come to be accepted truth.
How many people think that Palin said she doesn’t read newspapers, or that she said she said could see Russia from her house? It happens because those memes were allowed to propagate without pushback from the McCain campaign. Those of us who support her will fight for the truth everywhere – it doesn’t matter if the lies crop up in the MSM, liberal blogs, or conservative blogs.
As for Allah, he is a Moderate For Mitt.

What comes around, goes around…Talk radio has to stick for her and her family when Levi is chased to dig into his private life as a private citizen. Where’s the RNC stopping the buck and be really stern about these situations?
I know the Palins are tough people but c’mon, the MSM pays for airline, meals and hotel stay in ALASKA to talk to this guy? Talk about being desperate!

Please provide a link to show that’s what she said. And doesn’t your Poptech talking point conflict with the fact that she writes op-eds for newspapers, including the NYT and Minneapolis Star-Tribune, not to mention the Alaska papers?
She’s already said, more than once, that she gets most of her news online. Given Alaska’s location, dead trees are outdated by the time they get there. Also, you may not know that powerful people with busy schedules are typically given briefing books each day with news clippings from various sources.
Even her biographers say that, when she was a child, she read the newspapers from front to back. Her college friends said she had an interest in political issues when none of them cared about stuff like that.
Do some research, genius. Don’t get all your news from Poptech.
