Video: Another day, another White House dig at Rush Limbaugh

posted at 4:29 pm on March 16, 2009 by Allahpundit

Another one via Greg H. and Townhall. What happened here? I thought the new strategy was to put aside childish things like the Rush nonsense and start explaining to Americans why an almost $2 trillion dollar deficit is actually a good thing short-term. Maybe they saw the new CNN poll and figured there’s a little magic left in their Limbaugh-bashing bag of tricks?

The poll indicates that the vast majority of Americans, 86 percent, hope that Obama’s policies will succeed, with 11 percent rooting for his policies to fail. But when asked if Obama’s policies will succeed, the number drops 22 percentage points to 64 percent.

“One in four Republicans wants Obama’s policies to fail,” Holland said. “But six in 10 Republicans think the president will fail.”

Exit question: Is this the first time he’s taken a shot at Rush without explicitly being asked about him? Pretty soon he’ll be answering questions about Iran with, “Why don’t you ask Rick Santelli? He seems to have all the answers.”

Isn’t Gibbs awful? He makes Tony Snow look like Bob Hope.

LOL.
Another bad day, another chance to kick the cat.

It’s like they’re trying to figure out how to grease the skids on their express elevator to oblivion.

Gibbs, you’re one in a million. Keep it up baby.

this should be Cheney and Rush’s response to Gibb’s statement: “I guess Jon Stewart was busy”

I can feel the healing as Obama and his administration herald us into the post-partisan era where the divisive politics of years past is only a distant memory…

It’s comforting to know that Obama can’t fully staff the Treasury Department but has time to coordinate attacks on Rush and otherwise dick around…he’s running the never-ending campaign.

Right on Del… What most people fail to comprehend, is that Liberals really don’t care about other humans at all… No way, one must watch their actions, while completely dismissing their words in order to fully comprehend these creatures. In the very same paragraph, a Liberal can cheer the death of a non Liberal, while preaching tolerance of the homeless. It truly is amazing for those who watch closely.

Keemo on March 16, 2009 at 5:43 PM

The problem with the polls is a misinformed electorate who understand nothing about economics and make voting decisions based on rock star celebrity and biased media info.

Democracy is still an experiment … perhaps this is the fatal flaw in it all.

HondaV65 on March 16, 2009 at 5:21 PM

Democracy is the most vile form of government… democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention: have ever been found incompatible with personal security or the rights of property: and have in general been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths.

James Madison

Democracy… while it lasts is more bloody than either aristocracy or monarchy. Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There is never a democracy that did not commit suicide.

John Adams

Democratic processes are guaranteed to bring idiocy to positions of power. Our Founders built a structure rigorous enough to withstand most fools and criminals, but runaway democratic processes bring with them torrents of stupidity that no governing structure can ever be totally secure against. That’s why in the original formulation, only 1/2 of 1/3 of our federal government utilized democratic processes (House of Representatives) and even in that case voting was nothing approaching a “universal” right.

Just the forced cackle of that one harpy could heard. I give him one more Rush crack, and then the one after that, there will be an audible “oof” when he says it. How slimy to refer to the “Republican Cabal.” I guess that’s what Obama meant by the new spirit of bi-partisanship. This Gibbs guy is a d*ckwad, and it isn’t going end well for him.

getalife on March 16, 2009 at 5:48 PM

This Gibbs is a gold-plated jackass. He’s about as thin-skinned as Obama. Criticism from anyone, especially political enemies, results in fulminating nonsense.

Better watch out Gibbsy. Don’t overreact to pointed questions. We don’t want you to fail at your job. You are very entertaining.

The Dems must be fuming that their Operation Rushbo failed. Not only are more people listening to Rush on the radio, there will likely be some converts to Conservatism in the process.

Now, free-lance Dem pundit Meghan McCain is going after Laura Ingraham. Watch Laura’s ratings go higher, too.

EMD on March 16, 2009 at 5:48 PM

Pat Buchanan just slammed on Gibbs as disgraceful and I detected a note of agreement from Chrissy boy. Too bad, then they both laid into Cheyney on Iraq and ruined the whole moment. Gibbs does disgrace the office, he is hack.

Here is the problem with that poll. Most people think the President has the country’s best interest in mind, and therefore don’t pay attention to the particulars…but most Americans aren’t socialists, and so this poll is just an indication that the people they polled are idiots.

Conservative Voice on March 16, 2009 at 6:01 PM

Cowardly guttersnipe journalists just sit there and giggle while the voice of the administration makes a total ass out of himself and takes another jab at a radio talk show host. How pitiful they all are. The followup question should have been “When are you guys going to grow up and leave Limbaugh out of the Q&A sessions?” Tony Snow, we miss you!

scalleywag on March 16, 2009 at 6:03 PM

This is absolutely the most unprofessional White House staff that I have ever witnessed.

Partisan politics aside, Gibbs himself stated that it was “counter productive” to feud with Rush. Yet he continues taking shots at him only days later.

It is very sad that in the midst of an economical meltdown, not only do they spend like drunken sailors, they also fight like little school girls with anybody that dares speak out against such injustices.

Conservative Voice on March 16, 2009 at 6:01 PM

I agree with you that the vast majority of people in this country think Obama has the country’s best interests at heart.

I disagree that it is because they are “idiots.”

I think they are simply ignorant of what this president is up to. That’s where we come in. Conservatives need to spend money, and shoe leather, to get the people of this country informed on what this administration is attempting to do. Although Rush, and Ann, may not phrase our ideas in the way we prefer, they are the “point men” on this offensive. This is a war we dare not lose.

Joe Pyne on March 16, 2009 at 6:33 PM

I’d just like to know who the tool was who completely cracked up at Gibbs’ painfully delivered line. Good lord. He’s like the dude that cracks up at anything his boss says at the company picnic just to get a promotion: “A rabbi… and a priest??!!! No way, boss!!! HAHAHAHAHA!!!!”

What struck me, Palasuberg, was how Gibbs seemed to be expecting laughter, and – didn’t get it. Then two or three people tried to make up for that with forced, loud laughter.

So I think the press corps is getting kinda sick of it themselves.

Alana on March 16, 2009 at 6:34 PM

Scott McClellan must sit in his bathrobe watching these white house press briefings with a Cheshire Cat grin on his face. Who would have thought that ANYONE could make you look so good, Scott, baby?!

DrStock on March 16, 2009 at 6:35 PM

Dick Cheney is an adult. Rush Limbaugh sorta an adult. Gibbs is a frat boy. Obama is the nerd with big ears that is getting his revenge on the country with his childish programs, or NOT an adult.
We had Dennis Kuchinich as Mayor of Cleveland back in the late ’70s. Took 3 months before we started a recall. Can we recall Obama Inc?????

Ohio Granny on March 16, 2009 at 6:40 PM

Just when I think Americans might actually be learning something about the leftist version of governing, I see a poll where 86% of Americans want Obama’s policies to succeed! Socialism/Marxism- look it up. Check the history and the results! IT DOESN’T WORK!! GRRR!!!!!

alwaysright43 on March 16, 2009 at 6:53 PM

I stopped at 52 seconds. The reaction of the press corps said it all. Except for the one plant paid to laugh, and a poor attempt at that.

I really wish one of these reporters would call gibbs on his nasty comments. It is so unprofessional, but then he is part of the most unprofessional administration EVAH!!! Speaking of Rick Santelli, where has the darling been lately? Haven’t seen him around much lately….hmmmmm

clinker46 on March 16, 2009 at 7:05 PM

I’m trying to find a contact for him online–no such luck. He works for us, why is his email not posted? We need to start calling this a$$hole out on these little snarky comments. With Russians sending planes to Venezuela and Cuba, Iran sending drones over Iraq, Pakistan on the verge of collapse, etc., etc., can’t he find something more substantive to talk about? Weren’t they supposed to be above the partisan “politics as usual?” Just over 50 days in office, and I’m already so sick of Team Obama that I could just puke.

I look at Gibbs and I think, “Hmm…lotsa swirlies in your past, I bet.” He looks like he regularly got shaken down for his lunch money and held on to that resentment all these years. And now, by golly, he’s gonna make us PAY! “Who’s the big shot now, you guys? Huh? HUH?!?!”

FWIW, this a$$hat got a humanities degree (poli sci) at NC State, which isn’t exactly known for the strength of its humanities programs. I’d be willing to wager that he couldn’t get into the (more rigorous) program at Carolina.
