Laura Ingraham to Meghan McCain: Toughen up
posted at 9:55 pm on March 16, 2009 by Allahpundit
Via Laura’s producer, Tom Elliott. Have I missed any important interviews or are we still waiting for MMc to tell us what policies young, centrists Republicans endorse? Besides opposing earmarks, I mean.

What? Is Meghan chafed again?!?!?
Gohawgs on March 17, 2009 at 12:04 AM
As I remember, most of the “ass kissing” on the View concerned Barack Obama. After Obama’s debut on the View, he probably looked like the victim of an octopus attack.

The more I hear her, the less I like her.
She is the media’s useful Republican idiot.
WisCon on March 17, 2009 at 12:04 AM
Dude, you’re a McCain supporter. You have no taste. You’d vote for a loaf of bread if someone put an ‘R’ next to the brand name. Kiss her *ss all you want, Meghan will never have you. Keith Olberman has a better chance of scoring with her than you do. Find a real girl to suck up to.

I don’t approve of what Laura is doing here. She’s bigger than this. She’s better.

See, this is why I’m a conservative but not a registered member of the Republican Party (or any other party). I mean, how high school is this crap? Yeah Meghan’s being a baby, but Laura is too. I’m sure I agree with almost all her views, but I’m not a fan of her personality. She’s a bitch, I’m afraid. I think MegMac is wrong, but harmless. This is nonsense, and I think you can work for causes close to your heart without arguing over who is the better GOPers. Who cares?

What is Meghan McCain’s carbon footprint? OMG the earth cannot handle Mrs. Universally Huge. Safe earth Meghan, go on a diet!
Poptech on March 17, 2009 at 12:22 AM
If Meghan is so comfortable in her own skin, then why is she so upset about being called plus size? Shouldn’t she embrace her body type? She’s obviously a beautiful girl, but she tried to tangle with the big political girls, and is failing miserably. LI’s retort may have been a bit pedestrian and superficial, but it was intended as such because that’s how MMc comes across. At least John McCain was sympathetic because of his military record. MMc comes across every bit as entitled and self-righteous as you’d think she would be from a family of millionaires. She needs to admit that she’s a moderate Democrat and be done with it.

Hey! Today is St. Pancake Day!
A ISM freak took a tear gas canister to the head the other day, losing his right frontal lobe. The guy was throwing rocks at the IDF and you know how they don’t like that. He was one of the nuts that spent a couple years living in a tree in Berkeley to keep it from being cut down. The guy is pushing 40 and he has spent his whole life being goofy.
Anyway, pass the syrup!

I was watching O’Reilly and this Tammy Bruce pointed out if you don’t know who 2 prominent women like Laura Ingraham is or what Ann Coulter says then you don’t have a grip on Republican politics. Laura mentioned that Meghan has been on her show and doesn’t know her? What a dolt.

And I know too much to go back an’ pretend

And I’ve been down there on the floor
No one’s ever gonna keep me down again

You can bend but never break me

More determined to achieve my final goal
And I come back even stronger
Not a no-go any longer
’cause you’ve deepened the conviction in my

I am invincible

Chorus:

If someone made fun of the flat chest/ass Laura has she would be outraged. Laura looks like a fool here. How can someone as smart and right on the issues as Laura is lose to someone as stupid as M. McCain?
Answer: act like she is acting.
Is it wrong to point out physical flaws people have in order to win a political point? Or would it be ok for M. McCain to say Laura looks like a crack whore who needs to eat a ham sandwich in her next blog?
Politically I usually agree with Laura, but here she has made herself sound like a bimbo.

This whole thing is a ridiculous waste of time. I have never paid the slightest attention to either of these women. I don’t listen to Laura yammer and I don’t much care what Meghan says one way or the other. But as soon as Laura started taking cheap shots at the other woman’s weight the entire argument became farce.
I thought it was stupid when people talked about how big {in size} Rush is…and it is still stupid. Not to mention superficial and silly.

Not talking about all of this worked well for McCain in 2008!

You still don’t get it. McShamnesty’s daughter is a brain dead valley girl, the typical participant on “The Real World”. These people are so desperate to being relevant (and blissfully ignorant of their vacuousness) that they embarrass themselves with idiotic behavior in ridiculous attempts to justify their superficial existences (as opposed to actually achieving credibility through worthwhile endeavors). Because she is a plus size gal, she would never get on the show, but her NEED to be relevant is still very great. The fact that she has injected herself into national politics when she never gave a rats ass about politics until a few months ago, shows that her focus in this is clearly the star power she is getting. In a nutshell, she is playing feel good, sound good, entertainment politics for the ignorant masses. JUST LIKE PARIS HILTON DOES WITH HER SEX TAPES ETC. With that similarity established, we can move forward to the real problem.
We can see that she knows nothing of real life nor how to make a principles stand on values. But she is so sheltered by her white privileged existence, she thinks that because her thought processes seem logical to her, they simply MUST BE logical to everyone. Exactly like the dopey morons on “The Real World”.
That is the context and everyone would do themselves a favor by resisting the pressure of political correctness that the media uses to silence conservative voices. It’s time to get back to calling a spade a spade and rejecting the spin the liberals use to paint us as bigots etc.

Back during the campaign, I called Meghan McCain the Paris Hilton of the 2008 campaign and the entire board here at HotAir blew up at me.

She needs to go back and sit by the pool at the mansion. Giving Paris Hilton a bad name.
tarpon on March 17, 2009 at 9:19 AM
You know what I don’t like about Megham McCain?…
I consider myself a right-center Republican. I’m simply not as interested in the social issues as I am fiscal policies and smaller government.
Now, having said that, I also realize that just as the Democrats have wisely perfected, the party needs to support itself as a whole. If called to task, I will support my extremely conservative friends and I never speak poorly of them. After all, I can find much more common ground with extremely conservative folks than I can with liberals.
I saw Pawlenty the other day saying that the Republican party wasn’t about subtraction, but addition. He said he had no interest in alienating anybody in the Republican party and that’s not what our party should be about.
The dems seem to be able to be a team even the blue dogs and the liberals and that’s why they gain strength.
The Republicans have to start supporting each other, stat! And if Ms. Chubby can’t get with the program then she might as well be some other party’s problem.

The only part of this comment I agree with is MegMac is wrong. She is not harmless when she trots around to all the MSM venues portraying herself as a conservative and bashing other Conservatives because they are too conservative by her standards. She is only a Republican because she registered to please her father – how does that make her a voice for anyone other than a vapid daddy’s gorl?
On one hand I think Laura should have ignored her just like Ann did. It is obvious McCain is doing this to get attention and when her jab at Coulter didn’t get her any attention she went on to Laura. I would have preferred that Laura disect Meghan for her stupidity rather than her fluffiness. She actually was trying to do that but poor Meghan is such a ditz that all she took from the comment was that she was “plus sized.” For someone who is so accepting of her size she certainly got her size 9 panties in a twist. Notice she has never railed against being portrayed as an empty headed ditz which is much more insulting. I guess she recognized that as being true. Since now people are thinking Laura was being mean calling Meghan on her size IMO Laura should now say Yes – it was childish to imply that Meghan was fluffy. HEr size is immaterial to her points. However I should have just openly called her a needy wannabie who doesn’t know sh*t about being a Conservative.

saiga on March 17, 2009 at 10:23 AM
When you attack someone personally instead of their logic, you lose. Ingraham lost the debate when she criticized McCain’s looks.
I’m not sure why she felt she needed to do that, but she just made McCain a media darling and victim. Thanks to Ingraham every conservative will likely be asked if they agree with Ingraham, changing the focus of the debate.
The Left can get away with that behavior, conservatives, who are supposed to be the grown-ups, cannot.
Sensible Mom on March 17, 2009 at 10:40 AM
Actually, SM, Meghan fired first in this when she said of Ann Coulter that, aside from Ann’s policies, Meghan doesn’t like her “demeanor.”
Ann let that go, but like a good sistah, Ingraham then took a snarky little swipe at Meghan’s weight. Meghan took the bait and then lost the issue by getting profane — telling Ingraham to kiss her fat a**.

I agree with “Sensible Mom”–this whole debate is so ridiculously stupid, with a conservative talk-show host and a RINO’s daughter arguing about looks in public!
Let’s face it, Laura Ingraham is a whole lot more conservative and EXPERIENCED as a talk-show host than Meghan McCain, but she should know better than to criticize Meghan McCain’s looks–let’s stick to the ISSUES, like why John McCain lost the election, and how to beat the Democrats next time.
Meghan McCain needs to GROW UP and realize that if she wants Republicans to win the next election, she can’t be insulting a conservative talk-show host who reaches millions of conservative listeners, whose votes the next Republican Presidential candidate will desperately need, on a show with a mostly-liberal audience, giving more ammunition to the left.
John McCain might not have been our best candidate, and conservatives don’t agree with him on all issues, but he is a man of principle and a class act. His daughter needs to take a good long look at her “old man” and learn to be more classy and less sassy.
A house divided against itself cannot stand!!!
So, ladies, both of you bury this hatchet and start bashing Democrats!
Steve Z on March 17, 2009 at 11:00 AM
Saying you don’t like someone’s demeanor isn’t the same as calling someone fat. Coulter’s manner of attack is off-putting. She acts like she’s smarter than everyone else in the room, and McCain acknowledging that isn’t the same as Ingraham’s comment about McCain being large.
McCain’s piece was juvenile, but then argue and give reasons why you disagree with the piece. Ingraham should have been the adult and not let herself get baited by a youngster. The media loves McCain’s attack on the right so why give her more oxygen? All Ingraham did was give McCain more attention and turned her into a victim of the right when she should have dismissed her.
Sensible Mom on March 17, 2009 at 11:04 AM
I would, but it would take all damn day.
garry on March 17, 2009 at 11:06 AM
So it’s OK that Laura Ingraham muddies up the entire process because it’s just part of the game? It’s garbage. Is there anyone more convinced to the flaws of Meghan McCain because of Laura Ingraham calling her fat than Allahpundit simply asking “Has she said anything about actual policy than opposing earmarks?” Sure it’s not going to be on TV, but what’s better, asking a good question or getting on TV making the right wing look like a bunch of petty stupid goofballs?
These talk radio people are worse than worthless. Most people pick up on unnecessary nastiness, and most people are politically apathetic enough to allow this stuff to shape how they see the right wing establishment. There really isn’t any benefit from these people, they just make it harder to make the point that we know what’s going on, and we’re backing these policies because we’re right.
galenrox on March 17, 2009 at 11:07 AM
Your’e all a bunch of sexist boobs. If these were two men, and one made a similar comment about the other, the usual suspects wouldn’t be moaning and groaning and telling us why they aren’t republicans but true conservatives, and how we are going to lose the next election because of it, blah blah blah. No, you would just laugh at it and forget about it.
Blake on March 17, 2009 at 11:31 AM
