Laura dragged her old man over the finish line last year despite her better judgement and Meghan’s new buddy Whoopie suggested her father wanted to bring back slavery and Joy “I an idiot” Behar was a rapid McCain attacker. Nice to see such a young independent thinker like Meghan inject herself into the conversation.
After Daddy lost a tough nomination fight that left bad feelings between Bush and McCain in 2004, she voted Democrat.
When Daddy won the nomination, she was all for the Republican candidate.
After Daddy lost, she tells us the party needs to be more “moderate” while opposing earmarks just like Daddy.
And just like Daddy, she found that by being a “maverick” that goes against the Republican establishment, she gets airtime.
And by “independent thinker”, I of course meant “female John McCain clone without any life accomplishments”.

Well, opposing earmarks that aren’t for the public good. The rest can probably be guessed: maybe pro-choice, pro-national health care, pro-massive government intervention in the economy to offset the ravages of rapacious capitalists, and so on.

While I agree with Laura’s general idea that those who venture into political commentary should have a thick skin, I think Laura’s being catty and petty here. Meghan McCain is not John McCain. There’s no reason Laura should be jumping all over her. It shows a general insecurity on Laura’s part, to be honest.
My advice to Laura would be to allow Meghan her space and go about her own business. There are plenty of other people (e.g. liberals) to go after. This is a waste of her time, and people are eventually going to conclude that Laura is a shrill harpy with nothing better to do.
