I say tax them.

They voted for it, they agreed that it would be good to have for the better of the country, so tax them. Make them bleed. Really. They thought perhaps, in their infinite wisdom, that they would be immune to higher taxes because they have good lawyers and have always found loopholes and tricks to skirt around actually paying the price themselves, and such has always been the case in the past.

But now I really don’t care. Tax them. Tax Hollywood, tax New York, tax every single higher income bracket involved with the media. Tax them, tax them, tax them. And then tax them again after they’ve thrown everything up that they have left.

And then ask them if it was such a good idea to begin with.

No, I really don’t have pity. Let them squirm.

TV has gone the same way. StarGate series was filmed totally in British Columbia to avoid Unions and Taxes. Every planet they went to looked like a North West Old Growth forest. It got so bad the fans were snickering at it and calling it EvergreenGate.

There was a time not too long ago when a large proportion of films and TV shows that were set in NY were actually filmed in Toronto. Imagine going to Canada for preferential tax treatment? I think that is the indication that US tax policy is headed in the wrong direction.

Nicely said Ed, however, what you miss is that these liberals are big fat hypocrites. One of the central flaws in leftist idiology is that those expousing it are “speical” or “elites” who should be treated differently than the rest of us. Once Hollywood secures it’s special tax treatment they will go back to their same old tired populist message of attacking the rich while exempting themselves and their own industry. To think that these people are ever going to change into republicans or conservatives is to assume they believe in fundamental fairness in tax policy. Something that is clearly nonexistent.
