The only reason the ‘battle’ for conservatism is happening is because BCR abandoned the party right after emboldening the religious right in order to win in 04.

They let the genie out of the bottle and left.

Yes it has been an uneasy coalition for a long time, but at a minimum, under Bush the party has become a place of intolerance and bigotry. Our party is now seen as the party trying to control how people live their lives, that HAS to be someone’s fault, no?.

Our party now requires a Christian loyalty oath to feel welcome.

We have a party where Islam is the enemy, not political terrorists using an obscure fundamentalist interpretation of Islam to recruit members.

Do any of you think Cheney views Islam as the problem?

Do any of you remember the log cabin republicans?

As to the Rush/Obama debate….I wish Rush would have stated that the ONLY restriction was no teleprompters. That he would meet him any place, any time. Even with Gwen Ifilltingling as a moderator, Rush would wipe the floor.

Smartest guy on radio. He may go off on rants and scream a bit, but the guy is absolutely a razor on breaking down topics, economics, policies, history, breaking down what why representatives do things, and he’s not afraid to call people out (note his call with David Frum)…brilliant guy.

He would absolutely dismantle Obama and embarrass him so completely, that Michelle would have to get a wet-vac to clean up the mess.

Well then you should get out more…the rest of us have seen and enjoyed listening to him.
Just a few weeks ago he was ripping Obama on being weak in foreign policy.
Then he ripped him on Gitmo.

I don’t know about that, but I do know that if Cheney were so inclined, he could rip out someone else’s beating heart and transplant it into his own chest all while manning the Situation Room.
