Video: Cheney on Rush v. Obama debate

posted at 4:34 pm on March 15, 2009 by Michelle

Former Vice President Dick Cheney on Rush Limbaugh: “Rush is a good friend…I think he does great work and has for years.” Cheney says he would pay to see Rush and Obama debate. “I think Rush is a good man and serves a very important purpose.”

Rush vs Carville (even a Carville/Begala tag-team) would be fun, too. Would love watching Carville whimpering in a corner.

I can see the debate now:

Prez Obama, your opening statement.

Uhh, ah, um, er, well, uhh, ah, er, um…

Kini on March 15, 2009 at 9:28 PM

Dick Cheney’s comments about Rush are MUST viewing for Steele, McCain, and anyone else who considers themselves allied, if not acquainted, with the Godzilla of Talk Radio.

That is how you stand by your friends. I heart Mr. Cheney and wish him years of peace and happiness with his family.

My thought exactly . I am trying to think if I have ever heard Rush stammer like that.

How about

Mr. Obama, your opening statemnet.

Obama “Acme Teleprompter Inc.. Software Version 1.9.1.2 …. firmware version 4.3.2.1 … Status… Power on… scroll rate 3 lpm ….brightness 5 ….contrast 7… press any key to continue”

Then he would just throw a bunch of DVDs at Rush and run out of the debate…

The debate will be delayed as President TelePrompter’s software/internet guru is on a leave of absence due to an FBI investigation……

Interesting…now Obama continues this illegal war…is he a war criminal?

Jamson64 on March 15, 2009 at 9:42 PM

I will always believe that Cheney and especially Rove should have been out in the limelight more often. They were demonized and I think had people been able to see just how intelligent they are it would have only been good.

Carville can’t debate. All he does is yell and try to do the country-boy routine.

Yes indeed… Lays it out for all to hear. And the way Obambi tried shut him up was a big joke. No matter what else we’ve been told about that exchange, it cost Obama points.

RalphyBoy on March 15, 2009 at 10:21 PM

Remember when the Republican Party wasn’t full of total pussies eager to throw anyone under the bus in order to appear more “moderate”? That was pretty cool.

therightwinger on March 15, 2009 at 11:10 PM

However, if that can’t be arranged, I’d love for Cheney to take Obama hunting.

Jamson64 on March 15, 2009 at 9:32 PM

Don’t try to hard because he does it often enough so that it’s not rare. But he doesn’t try to hide it by cleaning up the transcripts and he doesn’t do it every day.

Contrast that with Obambi, who does it 99% of the time when he doesn’t have his bong TelePrompTer with him.

And it really isn’t fair any more since Rush is deaf and must read the words of the call before he can let his “brain clutch” engage. Did anybody notice how clunky-looking that cochlear implant is?

Can anyone seriously believe that Obambi would go out in public wearing one of those? He’d be too afraid of the ear jokes and comments that would follow.

platypus on March 15, 2009 at 11:57 PM

God bless Dick Cheney. What a great non-weenie answer. Everybody who asks the question about Rush should be reminded of the debate offer. Epic win.

you know who would beat Obama even worse that Rush? someone nobody on HotAir ever talks about… Neal Boortz!

Random Numbers (Brian Epps) on March 16, 2009 at 12:34 AM

He wouldn’t. I’d love to see that debate but there is no way Obama is going to let Rush make a fool out of him on a national stage and there is no conceivable way he could face Rush without that happening.

Guardian on March 15, 2009 at 4:49 PM

I don’t think we have to worry about Rush making a fool out of BHO, he is doing an excellent job of it him self. Rush would just finish driving the stake through him.

N4646W on March 16, 2009 at 12:48 AM

I, too, like the former VP Dick Cheney a lot.

VP Cheney should live and be well and continue to express his thoughts so that lesser Republicans may learn from him.

darktood on March 16, 2009 at 3:46 AM

I don’t know about that, but I do know that if Cheney were so inclined, he could rip out someone else’s beating heart and transplant it into his own chest all while manning the Situation Room.

myrenovations on March 16, 2009 at 9:33 AM

It will never happen…couldn’t fit the teleprompters in the radio station.

Well then you should get out more…the rest of us have seen and enjoyed listening to him.
Just a few weeks ago he was ripping Obama on being weak in foreign policy.
Then he ripped him on Gitmo.

I wish Cheney had a shot at the top spot for a term. He could have been a great.

Tremmy on March 16, 2009 at 10:23 AM

Everytime Cheney speaks, MSNBC devotes 2 days whining to it while the Obamessiah burns the country down.

Speedwagon82 on March 16, 2009 at 10:26 AM

I love Dick Cheney.

I, too, would pay to see that debate. Perhaps C-SPAN could set it up as a pay-per-view.

Oink on March 16, 2009 at 10:46 AM

I love Cheney even more because the whining liberals hate him so much!

ObamatheMessiah on March 16, 2009 at 10:57 AM

For eight years the classless and clueless Dems bashed Bush and he never defended himself.
Now it looks like for Dick Cheney the gloves have come off and President Pinnochio and his merry band of incompetents and nincompoops in congress are fair game.
Good hunting Vice President Cheney you have more class in your little finger than either current inhabitant of the White House could ever hope to have.

Will thwe MSM ever allow Cheney on again?

dhunter on March 16, 2009 at 11:04 AM

you know who would beat Obama even worse that Rush? someone nobody on HotAir ever talks about… Neal Boortz!

Dr. Mark Levin

Smartest guy on radio. He may go off on rants and scream a bit, but the guy is absolutely a razor on breaking down topics, economics, policies, history, breaking down what why representatives do things, and he’s not afraid to call people out (note his call with David Frum)…brilliant guy.

He would absolutely dismantle Obama and embarrass him so completely, that Michelle would have to get a wet-vac to clean up the mess.

Geministorm on March 16, 2009 at 11:11 AM

Would I be ‘tooting my own horn’ by stating Dick Cheney was my FIRST choice for President in 1999-2000? GWB sealed the deal for me when he chose him as VP.

As to the Rush/Obama debate….I wish Rush would have stated that the ONLY restriction was no teleprompters. That he would meet him any place, any time. Even with Gwen Ifilltingling as a moderator, Rush would wipe the floor.

Thank you, VP Cheney, for teaching Republicans how to respond to this question. Would that they would all learn…

WASHINGTON (AP) – The White House says former Vice President Dick Cheney is the second most popular member of the “Republican cabal,” behind only talk-show host Rush Limbaugh.

The only reason the ‘battle’ for conservatism is happening is because BCR abandoned the party right after emboldening the religious right in order to win in 04.

They let the genie out of the bottle and left.

Yes it has been an uneasy coalition for a long time, but at a minimum, under Bush the party has become a place of intolerance and bigotry. Our party is now seen as the party trying to control how people live their lives, that HAS to be someone’s fault, no?.

Our party now requires a Christian loyalty oath to feel welcome.

We have a party where Islam is the enemy, not political terrorists using an obscure fundamentalist interpretation of Islam to recruit members.

Do any of you think Cheney views Islam as the problem?

Do any of you remember the log cabin republicans?

Tony Perkins warns of a big, empty, tent.

How is that any worse than a small tent of fringe religious zealots that can only get elected in 11 states?

barkolounger on March 15, 2009 at 8:02 PM

Intolerance. Bigotry. Control people’s lives. Require Christian loyalty oath. Fringe religious zealots.

Credit where due. You have definitely established that Bush Derangement Syndrome is alive and well among certain supposed Republicans.
