Quotes of the day

posted at 9:45 pm on March 14, 2009 by Allahpundit

***
“I have been teased about my weight and body figure since I was in middle school, and I decided a very long time ago to embrace what God gave me and live my life positively, attempting to set an example for other girls who may suffer with body image issues. I have nothing to hide: I am a size eight and fluctuated up to a size ten during the campaign. It’s ridiculous to even have this conversation because I am not overweight in the least and have a natural body weight…

The question remains: Why, after all this time and all the progress feminists have made, is weight still such an issue? And, in Laura’s case, why in the world would a woman raise it? Today, taking shots at a woman’s weight has become one of the last frontiers in socially accepted prejudice.”

When challenged, liberals often strike back emotionally, with name calling, character assassinations and discrediting anyone that disagrees with them because their feelings and self esteem are hurt when someone tries to prove that their opinion is faulty.

Liberals often think that those who challenge their ideas are attacking them personally and they become combative. They would much rather discuss topics with like minded people who validate their opinions, rather than those who would challenge them.

Liberal views are generally based on their own self esteem. They espouse opinions that make them feel good about themselves. This is why good intentions often outweigh unintended consequences.

Liberals are easily duped into supporting those who articulate positions that make them feel better about themselves. Tough love is wasted on liberals. Liberals often dismiss the cold hard truth as mean spirited.

Juan Williams, NPR commentator and a liberal political pundit, recently said that although most of his views are quite liberal, sometimes his views are not liberal enough to please those on the far left. He said that the criticism that he receives from the far left is far more vicious and personal than the criticism that he receives from the far right. Dennis Miller, a left wing Hollywood comedian who turned conservative after 9/11, says the exact same thing.

….

To sum it up, liberals prefer to commiserate with people who validate their views, rather than debating those who disagree. Liberals find it offensive when someone else thinks that they are wrong.

If a liberal can not convince you that he is right, then you are being narrow-minded, irrational, unscientific, bigoted, offensive or inflammatory.

Liberals do not seek to find common-ground.

Liberals do not respectfully disagree.

Often liberals will make excuses for not engaging into a debate in the arena of ideas. They will say that they don’t want to lower themselves or they will discredit their opponent

Why Liberals Cannot Debate Rationally

What Laura was doing was poking a little fun. We can have fun are our own expense. Can’t we?

I don’t like caustic either, but your point is untenable.

Joe Pyne on March 15, 2009 at 2:19 AM

Laura ingrham, why did you do that? What do you care about? Meghan McCain’s weight? Why? That is below you. I understand why having to listen to her views is frustrating considering the fact that her mindless views generate attention but you just accompanied those stupid views with sympathy. Bad combination as far as your political agenda is concerned.

Zetterson on March 15, 2009 at 2:23 AM

Geez, are you people for real? Laura Ingraham wasn’t saying that Meghan is fat. She was making the point that HOLLYWOOD thinks she’s fat. Hello? The show “The Real World” wouldn’t accept her. That was Laura’s point. Meghan sounds like a vacuous valley girl, someone who would try to become an actress in Hollywood and be rejected because of her weight.

Hal-9000 on March 15, 2009 at 2:44 AM

She is just disgusting to me.

Coulter mentioned well-known christian doctrine about how all people, including people who dont believe in christ, like Jews, need to be perfected in Christ…and that is anti-semitic? Only somebody looking for a reason to attack
Ann on that one. When people criticize Ann Coulter for that remark, they criticize ALL christians…well except for maybe the most liberal types but certainly that is accepted doctrine in the vast majority of christian churches. So, that is a shot at us.

Secondly, she wants to represent republican young people? Who nominated her for that position. Donny Osmond would be abetter hip person than her.

Finally, cool it with the oreos and cheetohs, pig.

The Wall on March 15, 2009 at 2:46 AM

Diogenes of Sinope on March 15, 2009 at 2:49 AM

Come on Allah, you should at least give the whole quote, not just the little snippet there.

You can find the whole piece for free on Laura’s website. Laura was mocking the vacuous words of Meghan McCain, a new voice being paraded through the mainstream media as a reformer of the Republican party. Meghan McCain was being interviewed by Rachel Maddow and McCain is picking sides and doesn’t seem to like conservatives.

You guys are so anti-Laura. Please tell me I’m wrong. Laura never said Meghan was fat. She referenced an MTV show that usually has thin people in it. Laura agrees with all of us. It’s WRONG when “The Real World” rejects plus-size models. They would reject Meghan if she ever applied. What Laura was doing was mocking Meghan’s accent and speaking style.

A good measure of the ethics of what you’re doing is, if Dennis Prager would never even think to do it, it’s probably the wrong thing to do. And that includes making snarky fun of Meghan McCain. She’s allowed to have her own opinions, and she’s not running for anything. The fastest way to make her go away is ignore her.

RBMN on March 15, 2009 at 3:06 AM

I think Laura is hotter than hell.

I sometimes dream of me and her hanging out, going to the movies, walking hand in hand on the beach, getting a good night smooch….and then I wake up.

Same goes for babe Ann Coulter.

Meghan McCain doesnt exactly provide that type of pleasant dream for me. Do you think she can buy clothes off the rack or has to get special order clothes?

By the way, what all this Katherine Hamm stuff. She is maybe kinda sorta cute but there is no way in all of holy hell that she is nearly as attractive, to the hetero male, ass babe Ann Coulter and babe Laura.

I bet Laura would dig me if she gave me chance. Except I am married with 3 kids but I would sacrifice for her….to the max.

because Laura just gave her another (hopefully her LAST) 15 minutes.

It’s just a shame For Laura Ingraham (and way too many people here) cede the moral high ground to an intellectual nitwit like Meghan McCain.

I do think it’s funny how Meghan tried her best to pick a fight with Ann Coulter but Ann just ignored the Paris Hilton of Politics. But then in swoops Ingraham to take Ann’s table scraps. Laura is either way to insecure or really in needs of some sort of fight to boost her ratings.

I think it’s ok for Meghan to want to have debates about the future direction of the Party, but talking to Harry Smith and Rachel Maddow will NEVER get you there. Off Meghan and onto Obama planning to get us into more than two wars at a time given his reckless abandon.

…”the Obama administration would be seeking to come up with “a multiwar, multioperation, multifront, walk-and-chew-gum construct.

Reality always exceeds force planning.”–Thomas Donnelly, defense policy expert with the American Enterprise Institute.

NYT, Washington, By Thom Shanker

Sounds like Obama’s going to carry through on his promise to restore the DRAFT. His career data mined who’s who statistics on our population. Will he avoid or pinpoint drafting his supporters; wait and see. When they report for duty, their ability to walk-and-chew-gum will define assignment.

While Miss McCain is cute, she sickens me. She (much like her father) is no conservative. They represent the far left wing of the republican party. The MSM is desperate to break up any efforts on our part to mount any meaningful resurgence as a movement and threaten their beloved democrats in the mid term election cycle. So they promote every opportunity to split us and get us arguing about minutia that takes the focus off of the failures of this administration and congress. i.e. the flap about Rush wanting the president to fail, Ann Coulter being too mean and venomous and now this one. Miss McCain is a media whore, and she will all too gladly accept the opportunity to get back on TV and play the victim because of something one of our pundits has said about her. And the media is all too giddy to put her on and enable her to be a victim of some right wing hater!

Here we have a Beltway D lister sucking up to liberals in lieu of a social life, and Laura Ingraham called her out on it. Meghan McCain was never politically active. In my honest opinion I agree with her on Coulter and her with her response to Ingraham. No matter how on point their conservative message may be, I can’t get past the fact that they seem to be angry, caustic, miserable women who have nothing to offer to people but negativity and anger. I can’t imagine that they have any joy or love in their lives and I can’t imagine them accepting of it. They both remind me of my mother in law. Her very presence in a room an leech out all the positive energy. The conversation could be about the love of Jesus Christ and how beautiful the world is and she can manage to turn it around about her various ailments and relationship woes and how broke she is and how bad everyone around her is and how miserable her existence is.

I can’t stand anything about Sean Hannity including the sound of his voice and I strongly disagree 50% with Michelle Malkin and can find some of the snarkiness a turn off. But I can imagine him a loving father and husband, I can imagine her a nuturing mother and loving wife. Malkin’s smiling is beautiful and they both seem they have the ability to be kind and speak kind soft words. They come off as people that have love and joy in their lives and love and joy in their hearts.

I know its heresy to speak against Coulter, but people like her on either side I find not to be an asset but a drain.

As does Orczy I presume?

valley girl

I think it sums Ms. McCain perfectly.

I just can’t see taking shots at other republicans does any good.

If I squint, John McCain looks an awful lot like democrat.

Mark me down as someone who wants to drive all the RINO types out of the party. If you wish to act and vote democrat then join the correct party ASAP.

Now I’ve heard it all. McShanesty’s fatty (read sarcasm) daughter is The Messiah for the republican party.

Week after week Hot Air presents us with a new Meghan McCain quote or story. Why?

Not once have I clicked on a link.

Relevance?

None.

I don’t agree with the physical appearance attack angle either, particularly against women, but must say it’s very effective at getting into our skins–don’t care if you’re Miss Universe or Miss Frumpy Dumpy, it works. Notice how Michelle Obama has been slowly but surely trying to morph into Halle Berry as the msm eggs her on and finds any feature on her (her toned arms) it can to extol her beauty. When a woman speaks her mind and we don’t like it, we immediately attack her looks.

I’ve got nothing against M. McCain. I just wish she’d get it over with and turn Liberal. I’m sure she’ll be really popular over at HuffPost, if it’s popularity she seeks.

People like Ann Coulter are only considered a drain when they’re conservative. Otherwise they’re “lovable but caustic and hard-hitting tellers of truth to power”.

Exactly. Look at Olby and Chrissie for prime examples.

The only purpose Meghan is serving right now is as an arrow in the quiver of the MSM to ensure the continuing minority status of the Republican Party.

Ann is a woman after my own heart- Cuts to the bone, usually with crushing facts and raiper wit.

No patience for fools!

Ann vs the “valley girl mccain” would be short and sweet.

McShamnesty’s fatty (sarcasm) daughter is a valley girl. Ergo, she clearly would love to be on “The Real World” for the notoriety. But her weight would preclude her from doing so. Consequently, she jumps into politics a few months ago for the first time in her life in an effort to ride her dads coattails to stardom.

LI’s comment was on her personality, not her massive girth (sarcasm).

What is Republican about Meg McCain?

Jamson64 on March 15, 2009 at 9:49 AM

Speaking of Ann Coulter…she’s looking awfully thin. Too many of these woman don’t feed themselves and nourish their bodies properly. An apple a day and 4 hours on the treadmill will not keep the doctor away! (you see how contagious this is?) It’s all we know to do, criticize women’s physical appearances or make remarks. It comes naturally to our species.

Heh. Megan is a beautiful girl though. I believe her when she says she has accepted herself the way she is. Good for her. With all the money mom’s got, she can certainly avail herself to any or all the lipo, personal chef/trainers out there and be at least an emaciated size 2 by X-mas time

I know the above was an attempt at an insult.

1. I’m not a RINO because I’m not a Republican, so far.

2. I’m a married woman who I’d doubt Ms. MCcain would want to date.

3. I thought Conservatives/Republicans had the monopoly on countering arguments with substance instead of immature attacks? Some of you suffer from the same Liberal afflictions you complain about.
