He's still looking for the Wright church.

Maybe he'll go to church when Louis Farrakhan marches on Washington.

I don't want to be judgmental of BO as far as his religion or lack of it is concerned. But then again I don't have to. God will judge him in the end, and there's no escaping that.

Maybe BO doesn't know what the true Christian gospel is, all he has heard in his life is the social liberal gospel and so therefore he has never heard of repentance and that Jesus is the only way to Heaven. Religion is not what gets you into heaven but only a personal relationship with the Lord does. I don't think he heard that gospel in Wright's church and has ignored it elsewhere because of his love of this world.

Triple play for Allah today - one headline on Sarah, a second headline on homeschooling (which predictably 'evolved' into a debate on creationism vs. science answers all questions everytime) and finally the ever-popular diests vs church affiliated founders discussion. The only thing that would make it better would be a headline about Joe the Plumber/Journalist.

most of the founding fathers were deists…

ernesto on March 13, 2009 at 9:36 PM

That can be said of Jefferson. Washington and Adams were most definitely Christians. Thomas Payne was agnostic, I think.

well, we've found at least one who drinks the kool aide and is willing to rush off a cliff with the rest(ernesto).

Can you name most of the founding fathers who were deists? I'm willing to bet you're just repeating something someone else told you.

First of all, READ the Danbury Letters. You will see that Jefferson is actually talking about separation of the STATE of Connecticut, the Catholic STATE CHURCH of Connecticut and the Danbury Baptist Church Association, saying that the State and the State's Church (which existed until 1836) could not discriminate against the Danbury Baptists.

The "Establishment Clause", which truthfully does NOT exist in the Constitution, was created in Everson V Board of Education in 1947 where Protestants sued a New Jersey Board Of Education and the State of New Jersey for allowing Catholic School Students to ride public school busses.
Arch W. Everson openly admitted to being a member of the Anti-Catholic League and the suit was thinly disguised as a Constitutional issue.
Justice Hugo Black, who wrote the Decision in 1947, was an open and admitted member of both the Ku Klux Klax and the Anti-Catholic League. Black not only misquoted the Danbury letters, but used that quote out of context and mistakenly commented that Thomas Jefferson has been involved with the writing of the Constitution. Black also lied saying ""The 'establishment of religion' clause of the First Amendment means at least this: Neither a state nor the Federal Government can set up a church" yet 10 of the original 13 States had State's Churches up until 1837.

The First Amendment plainly states; "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof", refering to CONGRESS and ONLY Congress as is stated in every other reference to Congress contained in the Constitution.

I wouldn't care so much if it weren't for himself (sorry, Himself) and others portraying him (sorry, Him) as being such a righteous, religious soul.

Besides, only crackpots like Palin and Bush actually go to church.

How many Evangelicals and Roman Catholics voted for this guy?

ROTFLMAO!

True, but you would think that he would at least back up what he claimed during a campaign...or do you believe that a campaigner can say anything and not be held accountable...

most of the founding fathers were deists…

ernesto on March 13, 2009 at 9:36 PM

Do you know who the "founding fathers" were? Do you even know how many?
Me thinks you threw out the words "founding fathers" without even realizing what they mean.
Are you confusing them with the framers?
What, you never thought about that?
Out of the 55 signers...52 were affiliated with a church.
Here is a quick breakdown, for you to put in your memory banks so you don't continue to repeat this lie.

3 Roman Catholics
28 were Church of England (Episcopalian)
8 Presbyterians
7 Congregationalists
2 Lutherans
2 Dutch Reformed
2 were Methodists

Jefferson, Franklin were not included, a couple others may have been deists...but basically out of the 55, only a few were not conventional Christians.
Sorry to spoil your day...

I pray Barack Obama gets saved and becomes a Christian. Finding a church is the least of his worries.

As I recall, Reagan didn't attend church either, for logistical reasons, so there's that. If I were POTUS I would (among other things) invite local ministers and other guests to conduct services in the WH. It'd drive the libtards nuts and there's nothing they could do about it.

Obama's attitude towards organized religion, or degree of self-worship, would seem to matter very little in the total scheme of things. I would imagine security issues are high on the list for consideration. It's not as if he and the Mrs can just take the girls and hop in the car and drive down the street to wherever. Anyone who has lived and/or worked in DC for one year can tell you this.

Twenty-eight years, in case you were wondering.
