Notably religious president still hasn’t found a church after a year

posted at 7:59 pm on March 13, 2009 by Allahpundit

I knew there was something I liked about him.

Dude, the t-shirts are coming.

The delay reflects how the economic crisis has crowded out some personal considerations since Obama’s inauguration in January, but it also underscores the complexities of this personal decision by a public man.

Past presidents have grappled with how and where to worship, but Obama’s pick is especially guaranteed to provoke interest and scrutiny…

As America’s first black president, Obama faces another unique conundrum: whether to join a historically black church.

Then there are standard logistical concerns: What churches could accommodate frequent presidential visits without seriously disrupting the existing congregation’s ability to attend services? Which can the Secret Service best secure? Which routes work well for a motorcade?

What church could possibly be good enough for a man at the center of his own religion? Exit question to D.C. residents: Any congregational recommendations for The One? We’ll want to make sure he feels at home, so pastors who think the government invented AIDS and are known to run Hamas propaganda in the church bulletin are a plus.

Blowback

Oh, c’mon, aren’t there any Marxist, black-separatist, anti-American churches in DC?

What treacly garbage. I’d say he hasn’t picked a church because it isn’t politically important right now.

The Annointed One doesn’t FIND a church. They are built FOR Him.

TugboatPhil on March 13, 2009 at 8:06 PM

Following in the footsteps of Jesus, The Messiah’s role to to establish a new church, not to go to an old and busted one. Besides, being a former resident there, none of the DC churches I know of are big enough (for his ego).

Exit question: Who is “the Rock”/St. Peter for the Risen Obama?

Awwww come on – he has his own church. It’s a new one. The White House – worship Washington we rule you and we determine your destiny. This guys is trouble with a capital “T”. Meanwhile…. because of the dummies we sit in our own pew (puuuuu) and have to put up with this idiot. Enough. States are organizing for a Constitutional Congress. It’s about time. Let’s take the Country back to the people. They report to us, not the other way around.

Hasn’t the man already taken two “work breaks” now?

Lots of churches offer Wednesday services, but it seems Wed. nights are booked solid at the White House.

That doesn’t even make sense. If anything additional stresses of high office would drive a man of faith, which the filthy liar has never been, into finding a church sooner rather than later. The problem is that he spent 20 years in a place of hatred of white people at Trinity Lutheran and he doesn’t dare practice that faith with so many white people looking on.

I’m sure Calypso Louie Farrakhan could recommend one or quota-perfesser Cornel West. President Zero will have to find a red bow tie, master a shifty gaze and practice his sneering a bit. With Zero’s arrogance the last bit should come naturally as would the shifty glances. Zero could call it teleprompter practice.

Any church will have to be near the Potomac so that Obambi can do the walk on water bit on occasion.

Percy_Peabody on March 13, 2009 at 8:21 PM

I often attend the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception downtown. I bet a lightning bolt would strike Obama if he entered it. The guy thinks he is a god on earth, and plus if he can’t attend the mosque on Massachusetts Avenue, where he would surely attend if it would not bring negative press, I guess he won’t go to any church. It is his way of letting the Islamic world know where his true loyalties are.

Don’t be silly. BO don’t need no stinkin’ “church” now like he needed the TUCC years ago. Barry has already reached the pinnacle of his political career. As AP notes BO is the centre of his own universe…. at least for the time being.

Besides, there are too many parties to attend, too many conga lines, too many socialites to schmooze, so much bling and glittering objects to grasp. And in the meantime Barry needs his naps.

This is a guy who can’t focus on domestic economic policy, foreign affairs or anything else for more than ten minutes. Does anyone think religion is on his mind? Nah.

You know Regan didn’t attend any specific church while he was President? He didn’t start attending again until he left the office of President. But no one questioned his faith in God.
Again an (AllahPundit) snipit I find nit picky.
I guess what I am saying is, if Obama went his whole term without picking a church to attend, I don’t really care. But…if he were to attend a church similar to Wright’s with the same sermons being preached then I would find that interesting.

Gabe on March 13, 2009 at 8:22 PM

The hypocrisy here is that the filthy liar suggested he was a deeply devout Christian. Yet that “faith” disappeared when he couldn’t worship at the altar of hatred of whites.

As President, the filthy liar has all sorts of options open if he doesn’t want to go across Lafayette Square like most recent Presidents have done. He could go to the National Cathedral (the “nation’s church”). He could invite faith leaders in to worship in private. He could even head up to New York Ave. Presbyterian where Lincoln worshipped.

Fact of the matter is that faith never really played a part in the filthy liar’s life. He kept attending Trinty Lutheran because that is where the “First Ho” felt most comfortable since she clearly is an out-and-out racist.

Given the schedules and demands of office, I can’t recall a single modern president who has attached himself with a specific congregation in DC. Not even Jimmy Carter who was supposedly a devout Baptist.

My only criticism is Bill Clinton who used his faith like a prop. We only saw him going to church when he was caught screwing that fat ugly intern and then he had the audacity to wave his Bible at us on the way out of services. He also told us that Jesse Jackson was his “spiritual advisor” in dealing with his infidelity up until the time it was learned that Jackson was trying to keep his bastard daughter’s mother happy and quiet.

Good point about Reagan. As for BO he lied about Wright and the TUCC. After the 2004 election I checked out their website doing some research on my own about BO. Most of the information that was available on their site at that time has been scrubbed. What I saw was standard issue BLT similar to what I saw during my college years on a big campus. BO’s association with that church for 20 yrs convinced me of many things, but basically it confirmed my view that this is man who does not embrace mainstream American ideals and should never be president of this country.

ernesto on March 13, 2009 at 8:39 PM

And I would counter with the comment that it isn’t about our leaders being Christian (the word is capitalized even if you hate them).

It’s about being grounded with a faith. The filthy liar could be Jewish, Muslim, or even Druid and it wouldn’t matter so long as the resident of the White House is guided by a higher being and that reflects in their everyday life. The filthy liar claims to be a Christian despite the fact he has spent 20 years in a church that is CHINO (Christian in name only) because the word of God is secondary to a hatred of white people. I guess I need to explain to you that Christ didn’t teach racial hatred.

The filthy liar in the White House has only one faith and that is the atheism of the socialist movement. God doesn’t even enter the bastard’s mind when he is considering issues. He is truly evil.

To a certain extent that privacy disappears with high public office. I’m not suggesting that the public should weigh in on whether or not to have a third child or be present for the actual act of conception. But, this normally private moment is just as public as one of the Ford kids getting caught with pot, Amy Carter misbehaving on a field trip, Chelsea Clinton seeing somebody at Berkeley, or the Bush Girls drinking underage.

I suspect the idea of a third spawn of the devil in the White House is moot. They are too old and they’ve cranked out the family necessary for high public office. Michelle Obama is not a nester. Her womb is closed.

He’s got a church. He just can’t admit which one it is just yet.

JellyToast on March 13, 2009 at 8:58 PM

After Wright, it’s hard to find a lower hate.

The filthy liar in the White House has only one faith and that is the atheism of the socialist movement.

I think it’s even more primal than that: Power.

Perhaps the local Mosques are full up at the moment?

Frown when you say that, pardner!

Don’t see anything wrong with the black churches either as long as they do not have Rev. Wright’s philosophy. This is one area where I wish them luck and success in their choice.

Somewhat off-topic —

I was watching one of the networks when Obama announced that he was going to run for president. I’m sure I heard him describe himself as a pro-life Christian, because my ears perked up when I heard that. I keep my eyes peeled for pro-life Democrats because they are so rare.

Anyway, I have not been able to find any video of this, so I wonder if I am misremembering. Anybody know about this?

SheofTwoMinds on March 13, 2009 at 8:59 PM

I think by Easter time he’ll have the walking on water thing all worked out.

ericdijon on March 13, 2009 at 8:52 PM

Why bother? The filthy liar has spent so much of our great grandkids wealth on “shovel ready” projects he’ll just have somebody build a bridge.

So, he can find time to go on vacation (see survey) but not to find a church.

No wonder this economy is in the sh*tter.

Any church that incorporates the “belief” of “Global Warming/Climate Change”, along with “Social Engineering”, and “Slave Reparations”, that damn the United States of America, and hope more “Chickens will come home to roost…”, along with the before mentioned “Holy Teleprompter” will do just fine……….

Eewff… MO always looks like she’s 4 mos. prego. She’s built that way. That’s why the MSM freaks are talking about her biceps. There isn’t much else that anyone could compliment. Anyway, I doubt that MO will pop out another one or even a litter for political purposes. She’s too self-absorbed. After a one term presidency for that fool she’s married to she has plenty of career opportunities to look forward to.

“What church could possibly be good enough for a man at the center of his own religion?”

Maybe The Goracle can make a suggestion. Of course, there’s always Flip Wilson’s “The Church of What’s Happenin’ Now”.

You saying he’s voting present? Or something more sinister?

In all honesty, I have never seen the filthy liar as devout in any faith. He attended Trinity Lutheran because it looked good for his constituency and his racist wife felt at home among her own (think a black version of the KKK without the hoods). The liar himself is too politically ambitious with too much of an ambiguous faith background to ever latch on to one particular faith. Hell, some of his kinfolk on his dad’s side are probably being held at Gitmo under whatever term has replaced enemy combatant.

Can’t we just impeach him and let him go back to Rev. Wright?
