Civilization ends: 46% of Boston teens say battered pop star deserved beating
posted at 5:32 pm on March 13, 2009 by Allahpundit
If anyone needs me, I’ll be out back committing seppuku. Click the image to watch.
Update: Oh, did I forget to mention that not only did Rihanna take him back, they’re recording a duet together? Anyway, back to my ritual disembowelment.

Civilization ends indeed.
joe_doufu on March 13, 2009 at 5:37 PM
Yeah, and their parents vote for Barney Frank, John Kerry, and Teddy ‘I need another scotch’ Kennedy…..
This surprises you? The idiot doesn’t fall far from the tree.
HornetSting on March 13, 2009 at 5:37 PM
This shows how desensitized youth have become to violence. That or how much they exalt completely worthless celebrities. Maybe both.

That’s just awful. Stupid kids.

Do you expect less from kids in Boston? I mean if you could like the Red Soxs and John Kerry odds are your a douche.
Rbastid on March 13, 2009 at 5:42 PM
This is what happens when we teach children that there are no absolutes, and every opinion is as good as every other opinion. Why would they then think that right and wrong are anything other than a matter of opinion?
DrMagnolias on March 13, 2009 at 5:43 PM
Given what their parents have voted for in dear old Mass., are you surprised?
GarandFan on March 13, 2009 at 5:44 PM
This is the equal rights meme gone down the wrong road.
canditaylor68 on March 13, 2009 at 5:45 PM
Well Chris Brown’s & other hip hop/rap lyrics pretty much spell out how to:
“slap da Ho down”
“B*tches ain’t Sh*t but Ho’s & Tricks”.
Suddenly people are surprised the children might be absorbing the Rap/hip hop culture? Come on, this stuff isn’t Pat Boone or The Carpenters.
portlandon on March 13, 2009 at 5:45 PM
This does not surprise me…they can’t teach morality in school, they don’t teach “right from wrong”, everything is relative.
Get used to it, and BTW, these are the kids now, who in a few years, will be on juries.
right2bright on March 13, 2009 at 5:45 PM
Well, she did start the fight. I’m not saying what Chris Brown did to her was right, but she was the one who hit first and then he hit back.

totally jk
“She started it.”
Well, thats good. You still dont whale on her face for it
blatantblue on March 13, 2009 at 5:50 PM
I think it either stems from one of two things:
- either the teens are saying it’s her fault for being around a guy who had (probably) shown abusive behavior in the past…
or
- it’s the “perpetrator-is-the-victim” mentality come to rear it’s ugly head.
Either way, it’s a wrong way of thinking and it needs to be squashed.
yellow_railroad on March 13, 2009 at 5:50 PM
Excellent. You push me, I shove my stilletto up your arse. You totes deserved it. Thanks, baby!
mjk on March 13, 2009 at 5:51 PM
My best friend is a woman who counsels LGBT youth, many who have survived domestic violence and / or are homeless. She thought this would ruin Brown’s career and looked annoyed when I laughed in her face.
Another friend is a criminal defense attorney in Boston who defends murderers, rapists and pedophiles. It looks like business will be booming for him over the next few years.
chunderroad on March 13, 2009 at 5:51 PM
She started the fight? And how do you know this? Were you in the car?
carbon_footprint on March 13, 2009 at 5:51 PM
Unbelievable! Some of us keep saying that abandoning Christian morality is not good for society. Our founding fathers said the same thing. They were right! This is the beginning of where it leads. It will get worse.

Who cares if she did? In what way was she a threat to this turd such that he needed to back her off with a roundhouse to the face?
Allahpundit on March 13, 2009 at 5:53 PM
What do you expect from morons that listen to rap and live in Boston where they elect Kennedy and Barney Frank? Yikes, I’m surprised it’s only 46%!

Liberal’s embrace of this philosophy troubles me more than anything else. It is the one thing that will, if embraced by the general public, make this country unrecognizable from what it once was.
Joe Caps on March 13, 2009 at 5:54 PM
Exactly, I should have been clearer. It makes no difference who started it. Brown is a thug.
carbon_footprint on March 13, 2009 at 5:55 PM
Civilization ends? Come on this is nothing new when it comes to society.

46% of Boston teens need their *sses kicked.
Guardian on March 13, 2009 at 5:56 PM
Doesn’t she have all sorts of friends in hip hop? Surely there are some strapping lads among them willing and able to put their boots to Brown’s face.
Meanwhile, she’s back together with him and they’re recording a duet together. Back to my seppuku…
Allahpundit on March 13, 2009 at 5:56 PM
Not even beta males hit their girlfriends.
Thats saying something
Chris Brown is such a POS dbag f-face
blatantblue on March 13, 2009 at 5:57 PM
46% of teenagers can’t READ OR WRIGHT either. Makes their opinions quite irrelevant.

blatantblue on March 13, 2009 at 5:58 PM
Truth is, we were never really that civilized. Sin nature or barely evolved primates: your pick, but the effect is the same.
TheUnrepentantGeek on March 13, 2009 at 5:59 PM
This isn’t an uncommon response to domestic violence. The real question is whether she’ll break the cycle before it kills her. God I hate stuff like this.
TheUnrepentantGeek on March 13, 2009 at 6:00 PM
I knew teenagers were messed up but damn.
And I agree with Allah. Maybe if he had slapped her once or something it would matter whether she had “started it” or not. But he beat her half to death, there’s no possible justification for that its just sheer animalistic brutality.
Kronos on March 13, 2009 at 6:01 PM
Allah, supposedly Jay Z (a rapper) said that Brown was a ‘dead man’ right after it happened but backed off from the remark.
carbon_footprint on March 13, 2009 at 6:01 PM
Judging from the picture, it was several roundhouses. Kanye, call your office.
Repurblican on March 13, 2009 at 6:02 PM
Not to be a dick, but if you are going to rant about opinions and use bold, you should at least spell “write” correctly.
Or were you making a Rev. Wright joke?

Chris Brown needed the street cred. Looks like he got it.

I think they’re trying to be edgy.
Good Lt on March 13, 2009 at 6:05 PM
I’m not buying into the whole ‘battered woman too afraid to leave her abuser’ mantra. She’s got friends and wealth enough to simply pack off if she wanted to. She definitely doesn’t deserve to get beaten up, but if she gets back together with Chris Brown I’ll be significantly less symapthetic the next time it happens.

My son’s about 6.0 and 125.
Tall and skinny.
I told him that if a female goes after him that is of similar height/build he has right to defend himself.
If all things aren’t “equal”-he is to walk away.
I’m only 5.2 but my son is being raised to be a gentleman.
Btw-I had an abusive parent.
No battered woman(or battered man-I know some former ones)EVER “deserves” it!

blatantblue on March 13, 2009 at 6:09 PM
Oh crud, a story that shouldn’t matter has everybody talking.
Some of the comments here are more disturbing than what the Boston teens said.
He was dumb for hitting her. She is dumber for staying with him. Dumb and Dumber would be a great title for their album, if it weren’t already taken.
If this goes on to what happens in many of these relationships, will these same teens mourn her passing or testify for the guy, or both.
I cannot blame it on the rap exclusively though; parents at children’s events, teens at any event, national championship celebrations, Selena…
cozmo on March 13, 2009 at 6:10 PM
That’s the problem right there.
chunderroad on March 13, 2009 at 6:11 PM
This is where feminist nonsense leads us. Because if you believe the liberal propaganda that kids get fed since birth, men and women are totally the same. Therefore, if she hit him, he can hit her. Thats fairness. Chivalry is something that is mocked and considered “sexist” so when you grow up with that mentality it doesnt surprise me these kids think its her fault. Gender roles are disappearing and civility is going down the tubes because of it.
nswider on March 13, 2009 at 6:11 PM
two things:
1. I’m not sure if in our current culture you can expect teenagers to give serious answers on a poll
2. maybe she was kicking his ass first. She’s a big gal and he’s a puny little moron. Maybe he was just lucky this time and got the upper hand.
from what I know, they were both drunk. Therefore, she was probably getting out of hand and he finished it. Big deal. These idiots deserve each other.
Next.

Hip-hop and rap have absolutely nothing to do with this, right?
J.J. Sefton on March 13, 2009 at 6:14 PM
This is very disturbing! And yet the libs rail on against poor Levi Johnson as if he’s the most dangerous criminal since Billy the Kid.
There’s a real double standard going on here. Hollywood celebs inhabit a rarified dimension where they can do no wrong. And I am sorry to admit the thought has occurred to me that maybe he will kill her next time.

Per my earlier comment, Hip-Hop and rap are merely the symptoms of the disease. I think much of the blame lies in what the Great Society wrought and 50 odd years of a people being brainwashed into perpetual victimhood.
Keep on voting liberal Democrat. As you sow, so shall you reap.

Such a shame. I’m actually a fan of Rihanna and she always seemed like she had a good head on her shoulders, apparently not.
clearbluesky on March 13, 2009 at 6:20 PM
What happened after the first punch?
Looks like subsequent blows landed, so I’d think that the police would be involved (domestic violence charges?) with or without her consent.
How much do you want to bet that the kids that voted that she got what she deserved are also hip-hop fans?
Geministorm on March 13, 2009 at 6:23 PM
Let’s say this fourth-grader is trying to win over KP or MKH. Admit it, your beta male instincts would kick in and you’d…write him a strongly worded letter. Or poem. Poems are nice, too.
****
Note to men who need this explained to them: An 80-pound girl smacking you does not provide justification to send her to the hospital.
amerpundit on March 13, 2009 at 6:23 PM
It’s only a matter of time before he knocks the crap out of her again, or worse, it turns deadly. Sadly, many women believe a guy when he gets on his knees and begs forgiveness and promises no harm in the future. But I’d bet my job he does it again.
That’s just wrong. On so many levels.

Why would these results suprise anyone? When teens have dysfunctional “movie stars/celebrities” as role models it affects what they view as normal.
katiejane on March 13, 2009 at 6:37 PM
I would have been more shocked if she had not gone back to him.
Three-phase cycle of violence: tension rising, physical
violence, and honeymoon.
She’s in the honeymoon phase. A common misconception is
that if a person is abused in a relationship they will automatically leave. Instead, battered women leave an average of 5-7 times before they leave for good.
Blake on March 13, 2009 at 6:37 PM
I have a feeling there was a lot of strong arm tactics from managers, agents, publicists, etc. for her to “forgive him” and show everyone he was worthy of a second chance.
BLECH.
anniekc on March 13, 2009 at 6:38 PM
Well. My 16 yo son thinks Chris Brown needs his ass kicked and said if Rihanna doesn’t have a dad or brother to defend her then he’d be happy to step in on her behalf.
.
If she had family that cared about her the outcome would have been different. No one deserves that. Ever.

This infection called moral relevance that the liberals have unleashed on us is horrible. In a situtation like this they “might” take sides but that is how we see all conflict as a 50-50 proposition of blame. Al Qeuda=USA..PA=Israel you name it. These same kids are violent because they have been taught their victim status entitles them. The only way you can justify the comment by the kids that she shouldn’t have jeopordized Chris Brown’s career is to say Brown had his rights to a career violated when she told.
Conan on March 13, 2009 at 6:44 PM
And part of the syndrome is also him telling her that if only she hadn’t been such a b word, he would never have done this. And that maybe she should see a doctor about her hormone levels, or that he just loved her so much it made him crazy. Then there’s the “but no one else will love you like I do” plea.

my take on this is women cannot date down. Men can date the fry cook at McDonald’s if they are hot. I think Clooney’s latest girlfriend was his wattress. Women aren’t built that way, (feel free to disagree) they have to have someone at their success level or higher. For a twenty-something black woman that leaves only twenty-something black musicians. She looks around and is not attracted to anyone lese and that makes her feel her choices are just these guys. look t the choices of famous women in show business and tell me this doesn’t force their hand to what you see in their relationships.

My mother told me when I was a child, if any MAN hits me, once is on me, the next is on them. I would make sure any heavy object within my reach would make him sorry he hit me. There is no reason for this to happen! The rop is making this ok here with the ‘honor’ beheading, etc. The blacks seems to thing woman are what ever they want to do with them.
