It might be because a moderate is someone without a coherent governing political philosophy. They make compromises for comfort and little else.

He now gets booed where ever he goes now.

No one likes an opportunistic traitor.

I like some of his policy ideas and I used to like Frum! He is a decent man and he means well. So why doesn´t Frum focus on his ideas, instead of going out of his way to throw stones at other conservatives? If he´s such a moderate, why couldn´t he make his case to them all nice and friendly-like?

To 90 % of all people who have taken notice at all, Frum is now known as the conservative who agrees that conservatives are embarrassing. And that´s it. They don´t know his ideas, only that conservatives are too stoopid to appreciate them.

How did that help? Whom did that help? And why exactly should conservatives not be pissed off?

Don´t forget that Frum couldn´t even stick with McCain, who is supposedly the kind of moderate people like Frum want. The truth is: a guy who panics so easily over the pro-lifers and Limbaugh is unlikely to stick with any conservative position as soon as it´s sufficiently demonized by liberals.

Thanks to his obsession, he´s gone from GOP ideas man to obliging tool of the liberal media.

That was a hell of a good question there. I note there’s been no response in the several hours since it was posted.

Again — can anyone name a single David Frum policy idea? Let alone a good one?

Perhaps he’s having a hard time rationalizing his involvement in the Bush administration, that he still believes in the halfhearted faux-conservatism of Bush 43 and still can’t figure out why he failed.

Hope Scotty is enjoying his dirty thirty pieces he’ll be overtaxed on. He’s probably not answering his phone lest he be asked how he feels about the guy he endorsed engaging in his own “permanent campaign.” When alleged genius Rove did that in the Bush WH, it was so, so, troubling to McClellan, he accepted a promotion and became a key cog in the machine.

i’m not bothered by this because i’m resigned to the idea that this is the fate of conservatives who care about ideas. they are being forced to walk the plank on the s.s. gop already, so they may as well abandon ship, move to the democrat party and try to blue-dog it to the right.

I’m still waiting for the maddog Frum “ideas” that come after “don’t sound like a meanie,” “throw social conservatives overboard” and “grow government slower rather than reverse its expansion.” Can you tell me what nuggets Frum has churned out lately worthy of fine jewelry rather than flushing?

I would agree. Clinton broke ground in lying with a straight face that left decent, normal people just stunned. And it wasn’t just the lying; Clinton was impervious to shame or humiliation, too. I’m still amazed that he ever showed his face in public, again – even knowing that the guy is a sociopath.
