Hmmm... Dare we plan a good pitard hoisting on the Dems? They say," blah blah, Cantor, blah blah." and we say "ANTI SEMITES! Look at the track record of the Dems, look at how they treated Lieberman and now Cantor!" You know, just like <em>they</em> do with the word "racist".

Rinse & repeat as needed.

Just a thought.

One thing is for sure, the Left is looking to vanquish the GOP from the political arena. They won everything last time around and yet they have not let up. I admire that. We just don't have that "killer" instinct on our side.

<blockquote>BTW: from cnbc.com:

Some market pros, however, are skeptical that the banking sector—or the market itself—is turning the corner.

Stocks also gained after Rep. Barney Frank, chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, said the uptick rule would be reimposed soon. The uptick rule bars investors from shorting a stock unless the last price change was higher. The rule helps prevent short-sellers from piling on a stock and driving it lower to make a profit.
This 300 point rally is shortlived and based on manipulations on rules that should have never been imposed in the first place. Wait for the end of the day profit taking and see what the trend looks like in a week. The rest of the DOW components are not doing as well.

I think a lot of the rally was short covering due to talk of re-instating the uptick rule, nothing more.

I like your spirit, but the conservative base would have a hard time fielding the manpower to pull off these non-violent counter-protests you envision, because we all have jobs. Admittedly, the Obama Administration is working on correcting this...

Alinsky's tactics assume a highly motivated base of radical operatives with time on their hands - the long-term unemployed and student radicals. The conservative student base is too small to provide the foot soldiers you need - and don't think for a moment that university administrators could not brutally crack down on conservative student protesters, while serenely ignoring or encouraging leftists.

You'll never engage the media by sabotaging them. It would be a mistake to assume the news-worthiness of such activities would compel the media to cover them, and get your message out as a kind of rabid viral meme. This is the same media that can completely erase gigantic pro-life and anti-gun-control demonstrations <em>on the Washington Mall</em> from history by failing to report them, but treats six feminists turning up at a supermarket to protest Rush Limbaugh's endorsement of orange juice as a huge national story. Your conservative commandos would be featured in movies of the week with swastikas and jackboots before they were one-tenth as "activist" as ACORN.

There's really only one way to compel the media to put conservative messages front and center: use charismatic, articulate, passionate spokesmen they can't ignore. Count the number of opportunities John McCain missed on the campaign trail, and imagine someone with fire in the belly, and an ability to articulate conservative ideals and the failures of liberalism, had been given those opporunities. The only conservatives the media <em>must</em> provide ample coverage to are leading political candidates.

The way you deal with ACORN is to support Republican politicians with the guts to get federal investigations under way, and start putting both its leadership and foot soldiers in prison. Election fraud is rampant because it's never punished. If the next bunch of college radicals who decide to vote in three different states goes to prison for ten years, ACORN will suddenly have a hard time finding enoung willing recruits to make an impact on anything.

The way to deal with Obama-scale campaign finance fraud is to junk the massive and confusing McCain-Feingold laws, and replace them with simple legislation calling for absolute transparency in political donations - American citizens can give whatever they want, but their identities must be made public. Failure to comply with these simple laws results in the immediate termination of a candidacy, followed by criminal prosecution, as Obama's campaign should have abruptly ended on the day his web site fundraising hijinks were discovered. The only time you should be seeing him on the news these days is during his grand jury testimony.

The way you prevent Alinskyite radicals from getting into public office is to require an FBI background check on all House, Senate, and presidential candidates, and require them to earn top-secret clearance before allowing them on the ballot.

Yes, but then (call me naive if you will) I've never understood this syndrome either. As an anecdote, I told my husband many years ago, "you better never hit me, but if you're dumb enough to do that, one is all you're going to get because then I'm gone"

AND I wish to offend no woman who has ever been put in this tenuous situation, it's a horrible fact and needs to become a nonexistent problem. I'm just saying I personally would not stand for it and in this context do not understand why the Republican party will not stand up for their beliefs and policies - why they allow themselves to be bullied and not fight back.

<blockquote>BHO has 65% support.</blockquote> Check again, numpty. Also, your ham-fisted play of the race card nullifies any possible cogent debate.

Liberals perpetually accuse conservatives of faults and shortcomings they see in themselves. The clinical term for this is "projection". Seek help.

Excellent ideas, truly. I've often wondered why the Republicans didn't fight back. Remember, McCain didn't want to focus on Ayers, Wright, lack of release of documents etc...during the campaign, how did that work out for us all?

I'm all for being civilized, but unfortunately the Democrats/liberals and their minions cry out for a return volley. We HAVE to stop being doormats.

My only concern is that the left doesn't hold the patent on extremists and that violence would ensue. I'm sure there would be many who choose to ignore your call for "no violence"

Do you want to put an end to all this Saul Alinsky crap?

To do so, we need only escalate our response to their tactics. How so? Alinsky's Rules can only work under the premise that their targets (and society) will act civilly, within the law, and within "normal, polite" behavior, while they violate every norm and use every dirty trick, including breaking the law with impunity. As long as our responses are predictable and traditional, they will win every time.

Change our predicted behavior, and your disrupt the Alinsky program.

The following are suggestions on how to beat them at their own game. They are not for the faint of heart. And I do not advocate violence. These are ideas, and ideas only.

When they try to destroy the reputation and credibility of Cantor or Limbaugh (or anybody else like Joe the Plumber), they we return the favor by going after one of their "heroes" or their leadership cadre. They have data miners sniffing dirt on us, we should have data miners doing the same to them. Pick both national and local officials and leaders to investigate.

When Democratic Party officials start breaking privacy laws as they did with Joe the Plumber, then respond with tactics such as "dumpster diving", or hire private detectives to research their background looking for any and all dirt. Any other criminal or suspicious behavior in their individual histories get turned over to the US Attorney, become our press releases and useful blog fodder when the traitor media tries to spike the story.

If the Democrats uses proxies like Moveon.org or ACORN or even the media against us, add to the scumbag-liberal target list the local personel and leadership and media personalities. Cockroaches run when you turn on the kitchen light, after all.

When the leftist activists (like Codepink) or SEIU thugs try to disrupt peaceful demonstrations or assemblies by our side (Republicans and conservatives) by using loud behavior or disruptive behavior, our side need only pull out electronic megaphones and begin loudly calling these leftists "scumbags" and "thugs" or whatever. Don't remain silent in the face of the leftist thuggery attacks, because silence IS death for us. They expect us to be silent and polite. Surprise them and push back. Then make plans to crash their assemblies and parties to return the favor.

Find the headquarters of the local Democratic Party and/or Democratic Party incumbants. Or thelocal offices of ACORN or Moveon.org, etc. Then stage an office sit in, loudly demanding "no justice, no peace" or similar slogans. Sieze it, pin it, isolate it, then destroy it - isn't that Alinsky's rule 12? So, simply chain yourselves together. If you're arrested, unless there were real crimes that were committed, you can expect the charges to either go away or lowered to an ordinance violation (a "ticket" in other words). That's what happens in real life when the Alinsky's get arrested.

Be sure to wave signs and shout loudly enough describing the proceeds of the dumpster dive and investigation. Let the media know that Representative X has a gambling and drinking problem and/or has a mistress, takes bribes, what ever. Look, it's working to bring Rolan Burris down. Burris' polling numbers show he has only 5% support among Democrats, and far less for non-Democrats polled. And the "annointed one", the "trail blazer" in course to being removed in 2010 instead of reelected.

Dealing with the lefting, Obama rectum-sucking media is rather simple. Normally, they'd spike any show of opposition to Obama or demonstrations favoring our ideas. Look how they are ignoring the "tea parties." However, they always praise in glowing terms the behavior of the leftis protesters - "truth to power" and all the BS. This can be turned to our benefit. When the first TV truck/news crew shows up, send the troops over to loudly picket and protest the "Obama media lackeys." I guarantee it'll be on the news. In fact, count on other TV/radio stations to provide their own footage for their own news broadcasts. Help them out; give them something to record. Give them the bum's rush, too.

In fact, after a few times, you can offer the media a deal: If they HONESTLY protray our cause that day, we'll let them alone. If they refuse to go along, then escalate by non-violently sabotaging their ability to report. Accidently trip over their feed and power cables. Have pump sprayers loaded with green pea soup (or similar non-toxic, non destructive stuff) and treat the cameramen to "free soup." Yep, this is intimidation and in some jursdictions a battery or assault. But given the fact that the media (and/or their behavior) never wants to BE the story, charges are unlikely to be filed or pressed. As long as nobody is hurt AND their equipment not permanently damaged.

If they attempt to assault Ann Coulter, or David Horowitz, or any other person on our side at a college campus, pick a leader of there's and throw a cream pie in their face too. The law demands that everybody be equal under the law, that means they can't charge our side without being inconsistent, which will reduce both side's charges to ordinance or misdemeanor violations, if not thrown out outright.

So, the way to deal with Alinsky tactics is to give them a taste of their own medicine. There are many, many other non-violent things that can be used to push back against the left and their media allies. Be creative enough, be persistent and stubborn enough, be "in their face" enough, and the left will be left with only two choices: cut it out and offer a defacto truce (the desired result), or they'll let their inner Nazi out and become violent. Remember, the first party to cross the violence line LOSES all public support. If they "go violent" first, then they lose in the court of public opinion and they get emasculated.

Everything I've postulated in this post boils down to the concept behind this quote from the Kostner movie, "The Untouchables."

<blockquote>"He pulls a knife on you, you pull a gun on him. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. That's the Chicago Way." Sean Connery to Kevin Costner (playing Eliot Ness) in "The Untouchables."
</blockquote>

The left always plays for keeps. If we want to derail their vicious attacks, we have to use their tactics against them, and let them know that their mau-mau tactics will not only no longer be tolerated, but will be returned and then some.

Do you want to put an end to all this Saul Alinsky crap?

To do so, we need only escalate our response to their tactics. How so? Alinsky’s Rules can only work under the premise that their targets (and society) will act civilly, within the law, and within “normal, polite” behavior, while they violate every norm and use every dirty trick, including breaking the law with impunity. As long as our responses are predictable and traditional, they will win every time.

Change our predicted behavior, and your disrupt the Alinsky program.

The following are suggestions on how to beat them at their own game. They are not for the faint of heart. And I do not advocate violence. These are ideas, and ideas only.

When they try to destroy the reputation and credibility of Cantor or Limbaugh (or anybody else like Joe the Plumber), they we return the favor by going after one of their “heroes” or their leadership cadre. They have data miners sniffing dirt on us, we should have data miners doing the same to them. Pick both national and local officials and leaders to investigate.

When Democratic Party officials start breaking privacy laws as they did with Joe the Plumber, then respond with tactics such as “dumpster diving”, or hire private detectives to research their background looking for any and all dirt.

When the leftist activists (like Codepink) or SEIU thugs try to disrupt peaceful demonstrations or assemblies by our side (Republicans and conservatives) by using loud behavior or disruptive behavior, our side need only pull out electronic megaphones and begin loudly calling these leftists “scumbags” and “thugs” or whatever. Don’t remain silent in the face of the leftist thuggery attacks, because silence IS death for us. They expect us to be silent and polite. Surprise them and push back. Then make plans to crash their assemblies and parties to return the favor.

Find the headquarters of the local Democratic Party and/or Democratic Party incumbants. Or thelocal offices of ACORN or Moveon.org, etc. Then stage an office sit in, loudly demanding “no justice, no peace” or similar slogans. Sieze it, pin it, isolate it, then destroy it – isn’t that Alinsky’s rule 12? So, simply chain yourselves together. If you’re arrested, unless there were real crimes that were committed, you can expect the charges to either go away or lowered to an ordinance violation (a “ticket” in other words). That’s what happens in real life when the Alinsky’s get arrested.

Be sure to wave signs and shout loudly enough describing the proceeds of the dumpster dive and investigation. Let the media know that Representative X has a gambling and drinking problem and/or has a mistress, takes bribes, what ever. Look, it’s working to bring Rolan Burris down. Burris’ polling numbers show he has only 5% support among Democrats, and far less for non-Democrats polled. And the “annointed one”, the “trail blazer” in course to being removed in 2010 instead of reelected.

Dealing with the lefting, Obama rectum-sucking media is rather simple. Normally, they’d spike any show of opposition to Obama or demonstrations favoring our ideas. Look how they are ignoring the “tea parties.” However, they always praise in glowing terms the behavior of the leftis protesters – “truth to power” and all the BS. This can be turned to our benefit. When the first TV truck/news crew shows up, send the troops over to loudly picket and protest the “Obama media lackeys.” I guarantee it’ll be on the news. In fact, count on other TV/radio stations to provide their own footage for their own news broadcasts. Help them out; give them something to record. Give them the bum’s rush, too.

In fact, after a few times, you can offer the media a deal: If they HONESTLY protray our cause that day, we’ll let them alone. If they refuse to go along, then escalate by non-violently sabotaging their ability to report. Accidently trip over their feed and power cables. Have pump sprayers loaded with green pea soup (or similar non-toxic, non destructive stuff) and treat the cameramen to “free soup.” Yep, this is intimidation and in some jursdictions a battery or assault. But given the fact that the media (and/or their behavior) never wants to BE the story, charges are unlikely to be filed or pressed. As long as nobody is hurt AND their equipment not permanently damaged.

If they attempt to assault Ann Coulter, or David Horowitz, or any other person on our side at a college campus, pick a leader of there’s and throw a cream pie in their face too. The law demands that everybody be equal under the law, that means they can’t charge our side without being inconsistent, which will reduce both side’s charges to ordinance or misdemeanor violations, if not thrown out outright.

So, the way to deal with Alinsky tactics is to give them a taste of their own medicine. There are many, many other non-violent things that can be used to push back against the left and their media allies. Be creative enough, be persistent and stubborn enough, be “in their face” enough, and the left will be left with only two choices: cut it out and offer a defacto truce (the desired result), or they’ll let their inner Nazi out and become violent. Remember, the first party to cross the violence line LOSES all public support. If they “go violent” first, then they lose in the court of public opinion and they get emasculated.

Everything I’ve postulated in this post boils down to the concept behind this quote from the Kostner movie, “The Untouchables.”

“He pulls a knife on you, you pull a gun on him. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. That’s the Chicago Way.” Sean Connery to Kevin Costner (playing Eliot Ness) in “The Untouchables.”

The left always plays for keeps. If we want to derail their vicious attacks, we have to use their tactics against them, and let them know that their mau-mau tactics will not only no longer be tolerated, but will be returned and then some.

To play devil's advocate: IF they were banned, are we not then stifling freedom of speech? One of the rights I fear we're in danger of losing in this new era of socialistic proclamations.

Trolls only exist to annoy and incite with their thrusts of ignorance and stupidity. I know it's difficult to ignore their inane ramblings and the need to respond is overwhelming. If we refuse to "feed" them, they will soon lose interest and go away all on their own. What purpose do they serve if they get no response?

just a thought.

And by the way, where is the Grand Plan that Tim Geithner and Barack Obama promised? When can we expect Obama and his Gang That Couldn’t Gift Straight to do the jobs they were elected to do, rather than just plot the next campaign? Or is that above everyone’s pay grade?
Ed Morrissey

Goodness, Ed, keep this up and I will develop a man-crush.

Ha, what losers. If you want to talk about destroying people before they have a chance to grow, Lee Atwater was the man. His first campaign he was running a Republican against a Democrat who was jewish, and so Atwater got a third party candidate to run on the "Because I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ" platform. It's real dirty, but I love it. He was a brilliant man.

<blockquote>Or am I completely wrong and the old-timers here at HA have tried this in the past and, unlike any other website, “not feeding the troll” doesn’t work? Am I in violation of HA posting etiquette by suggesting these things? Quit letting them steer the direction of the conversation. I mean, I saw a post earlier where the trolls hadn’t even shown up on the thread, yet there were HA posters wondering “why getalife hadn’t shown up yet”. WTH? Do you actually need to verbally spar with a mental midget to justify your posts? If this is the case, someone let me know! I can try this method out for myself (although I am going to take the liberty of preemptively questioning its effectiveness).
Thanks,

Oh sure. That would have just required invading an ally of ours -- Pakistan -- that has nuclear weapons and was cooperating with us hand-in-glove, and probably causing the government of the country to be overthrown.

Brilliant plan.

If the bush depression is over, then anything else that goes wrong with the economy is now Obama's fault.

Yep. I expect you to be backing away from that statement within 48 hours, if not sooner.

[ I'm ignoring, for the moment, your constant attempts to implant the idea of a "bush depression" in our minds. I know that's what you're aiming for, but it's not going to work. ]

<blockquote>Nations in the region that had been pursuing WMD without being listed in the “Axis of Evil” have come clean and put those development programs on hold. That’s more than just a “marginal victory” - it is a solid “strategic victory.”

The WMD story goes even further. It was Libya's capitulation, as you mentioned, that not only stopped its own nuke program and came clean, but revealed to us the true depth and mechanisms of the AQ Khan network, which was the most dangerous flow of nuclear technology on Planet Earth. The Iraq War ended up netting far more WMD (and far more important WMD) than anyone had ever imagined.
