Video: Stephanie Miller wants Rush executed, Larry King shrugs

I’ve decided to move this from the headlines, as it bugged me all night long and I was still chewing on it this morning. It reflects a cult of personality gone psychotic among the Left for Barack Obama, where any kind of dissent equates to treason. However, we’ve (almost) come to expect that, but as the Newsbusters point out, Larry King — who gave Bobby Jindal a tough interrogation the other night over something somebody else said — doesn’t even bother to follow up:
STEPHANIE MILLER, LIBERAL TALK RADIO HOST: I guess that is what Nancy and her friends want. As long as you have a place to listen Rush on the radio — if he fails we all fail.
KING: If his policies fail, he fails, right?
MILLER: Exactly. To me that seems treasonous.
King’s hard-hitting response?
KING: Lars, a fair question. [Arianna Huffington had jumped in after Miller to gripe about George Bush]
Later, Miller tried to get a reaction from King again:
MILLER: Nancy, you are right about one thing. We love this episode of Republican. It’s delightful and it’s not solving any of the serious problems that the country is facing. You know who is it good for? Rush Limbaugh. He loves this attention.
If I could say something tonight that gets me that kind of attention, like maybe Rush Limbaugh should be executed for treason. How about that?
And King’s hard-hitting follow-up?
KING: It is true that any kind of — Rush is a personality — is enjoying this, isn’t he?
Gee, I wonder what King would have said if Rush, Sean Hannity, or anyone else had appeared on his show in spring 2007 and called Harry Reid’s declaration of defeat in Iraq on the Senate floor treasonous. Somehow, I think he would have given that person the Jindal treatment, and not the pass he gave Miller on Tuesday. Contrast the vastly different ways in which King handled Jindal and Miller this week, and the word hack comes quickly to mind.

So if everyone doesn’t march in perfect lockstep to Obama’s tune, his minions suggest execution? And people wonder why some of us are worried that we’re repeating the 1930’s….

Are we sure that was Stephanie Miller and not Allah in drag?
Just askin’…

People have always said that Larry King is the king of the softball interview…personally I think it’s more like tee-ball.
But yeah, this deserves to get airplay, if only for its instructional value.
Cylor on March 6, 2009 at 8:18 AM
Again, this is what you would expect from a media that has become a propaganda organ. The liberals have embraced Obama as a divine right absolutist monarch–the worst nightmares of Jefferson and Adams have come to life.

Can only hope Rush makes no mention of this on his show. You know that’s exactly what this libtard twat wants.

They are still obsessing about Rush?
I love it when the people who are giving Rush all the attention, complain about Rush getting all the attention.
Step 1 Demonize Rush and try to marginalize him with a media blitz.
Step 2
Step 3 Profit
Step 4 When plan backfires, blame for Rush for causing all the attention.

There is why we were clinging to our guns and religion. Let’s By God get this revolution started before it’s too late.
RandyChandler on March 6, 2009 at 8:20 AM
Again, I’ll ask. Couldn’t you make the same argument about any President? That rooting for him to fail is in effect rooting for the country to fail? That didn’t seem to stop anyone on the left from demonizing Bush from day one.
Doughboy on March 6, 2009 at 8:21 AM
Treason = destroying the country by stealing 2 trillion and surrendering to Russia and Iran. Though the execution of the traitor better not be by hanging – that would be racist…
Aristotle on March 6, 2009 at 8:22 AM
Larry King is the worst interviewer there is.
And if the executions are about to begin, better put me on the list. I want Hussein to fail too, so long as what he’s trying is coming from Marx and Lenin instead of Washington, Jefferson and Madison.
wildcat84 on March 6, 2009 at 8:23 AM
Yeah, Rush has a larger audience in the first 15 minutes of his show than the whole libtard talk radio industry.
wildcat84 on March 6, 2009 at 8:25 AM
The best part about all of this is, Rush says in advance, “watch, they will take this out of context [explanation] Yes, I want him to fail. [more explanation]…” and they do it anyway.
I used to listen to Rush in waves, I usually listen for a few months, then I stop for a few months.
I’ve been listening pretty steady for a long time now because I think it’s so damn funny watching him play so many people for fools. On both sides of the aisle.
reaganaut on March 6, 2009 at 8:25 AM
They passed that threshold even before the election. The Germany campaign stop (which should have ended any American politician’s aspirations – even ones who aren’t natural-born, to begin with) signalled that the Left was running emotionally amok in public.
The left doesn’t think in terms of “treason”, other than for reasons of convenience. The left doesn’t even know what the term “national sovereignty” means.
Look, Ed, what we have now, in our country, is the French Revolution, and all that that entails. It is going to be so ugly, since all of their ideas are moronic and will kill our nation. They will resort to heavier-handed tactics to keep everyone in line and stop their idiocy from being discussed openly. That’s just how the left is. That’s how they’ve always been. That’s how they always will be. They’re just, plain nuts.
progressoverpeace on March 6, 2009 at 8:25 AM
This is CNN.
SouthernGent on March 6, 2009 at 8:26 AM
Without a doubt Ed, the hatred on the left for any opposition to their ideology has been out of control for several years now. The hatred took a new life following Al Gore’s defeat in 2000, and like most things evil, this sickness has grown and grown over the past (8) years to the point where it has become a national embarrassment. Ann Coulter nailed it perfectly and accurately in her book “Godless, The Church of Liberalism.” Michael Savage nailed it in his book “Liberalism, a mental disorder.” But nobody describes this evil illness better than Rush Limbaugh.
When you get these sicko Liberals in a group together (such is the case at the view), the illness takes on a new life, and the people so inflicted feel embolden by their hatred. They feed off each other like coyotes killing fresh meat. Larry King has fallen so badly as his disease has spread throughout his spirit. It’s sad really, as Larry was once a very decent man.

I always figured he was just something that the elderly turned on so that they could be comforted by the sound of human voices in the background of an otherwise empty house. Like JAG or Perry Mason.

That said, I’m sick and tired of the idiots in the Dem and GOP parties giving their insipid talking points, instead of taking the blame for the mess they have created.

BacaDog on March 6, 2009 at 8:38 AM
What a perfect example of an unhinged liberal. Also, in another perfect example of breathtaking hypocrisy, the loons on the left don’t think that it’s treasonous to bankrupt our country and leave our children a colossal mess that they will never be able to clean up. They don’t think that it’s treasonous to allow an invasion from our southern border, and follow in Hugo Chavez’s footsteps in socializing/nationalizing our society and economy.
That stuff is OK as long as a conservative isn’t allowed to complain about it. The good news…their stupidity is driving people to Rush in droves. They never dispute what Rush says, because they can’t make a valid argument for what the liberals are doing to this country. Now that more people (hopefully more Democrats) will be listening to Rush, they won’t be able to refute his arguments either. Maybe some of the people who elected the “traitorous” liberals will re-think their views.

Around the country are tea parties galore, the left have rewritten history so much that they cannot remember that in America tea parties preceed armed violent revolution. If the left continues to ignore the polite knocking on their front door that polite knocking will cease, and be followed by a very loud and violent kicking in of their door.
Then they will indeed get their wish for those engaging in treason to be executed, but holy $hit are they going to be surprised at just whom it is that is designated to have been committing treason.
doriangrey on March 6, 2009 at 8:45 AM
I was being facetious of course. This is frankly an absurd and downright insulting topic that the media seems intent on hammering away at every day. If you oppose the President’s policies, obviously you want them to fail. That doesn’t make one a traitor or a political hack interested only in their personal gain. It simply means he or she has a different vision for America from the President’s.
The media strategy is pretty obvious. Intimidate Republicans into falling in line with Obama’s agenda, and for those few who don’t, don’t report on any of their alternative plans they propose, lest we actually make the American people think the GOP is more than just the “party of no”.

That was … what the hell WAS that? That’s insane. And he just let it go by like it was nothing. WTH is wrong with these people? You know, for the longest time I thought the uptick in gun sales was a little extreme – partly because I don’t understand why everyone doesn’t already have a fully stocked gun safe but also because it’s not a good first line of defense against crime. The first line of defense should be making your home as inaccessible as possible. But them someone suggested that it wasn’t criminals they are arming against it was the liberals and I thought that was just nuts. But now? Not so nuts.
.
She just casually SAID that – like it would be an easy and needed thing to do. She said it like we execute people for treason every damned day or something. I thought liberals were against the death penalty under any circumstances. I completely f’ing MISSED the “lovable little fuzzballs are ok to execute” clause in that doctrine.
.
Jesus. That is more frightening – to see a perfectly normal looking woman talking in a company of mostly normal looking people and casually talking about executing ANYONE for treason because they disagree with a president’s policies – that is more frightening than even Hannibal Lecter’s calm invitation to dinner.
.
Is it lead pipes? Are we missing some element in our daily world that is causing ordinary people to act normal while saying the most insane things? What IS it? And King just sat there – like Frost when Bhuto said Bin Laden was already dead and didn’t question it. And then she was executed not long after saying it.
.
These people are starting to creep me the hell out. I mean it. Creep.me.the.hell.out.

From the WAPO:
By one measure, Rush Limbaugh is a clear winner this week: His ratings have nearly doubled since his feud with the White House burst into the media limelight.
But the Obama administration’s strategy of trying to elevate the conservative radio commentator to leader of the opposition has prompted a vigorous counterattack, with a key Republican senator saying the move is an “outrage” that “reeks of hypocrisy coming from a president who campaigned against these very cynical political tactics last fall.”
That letter from Sen. John Cornyn (Tex.), chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, and a Washington Post opinion piece by House Minority Leader John A. Boehner (R-Ohio), also accusing the White House of cynicism, underscore the GOP’s attempt to make President Obama pay a political price for the rhetorical assault on Limbaugh.

The American people are busy watching their life savings get flushed down the Liberal sewer, and the WH is busy having some fun trashing the opposition and partying it up with million dollar dinners-concerts paid for with tax payer dollars.
Yep, that’s going to go over well with the average citizen.
Keemo on March 6, 2009 at 9:04 AM
Can we get real, here? Miller makes clear her context. She’s equating two statements. Making the case that she wants Rush executed is a neat gotcha, but not part of a serious discussion.
The real marvel is the two statements she equates!
Rush: I hope [a political opponent] fails.
Miller: [a political opponent] should be executed for treason.
It is a reasonable statement to hope that an opposing agenda fails. It is quite UN-reasonable to want somebody hanged for that same sentiment.
That, Arianna, is how conservatives will get back some mojo, Americans can see the whackjobs on the left and their sense of “equivalent” propositions. It’s amazing ALL the spin the left has tried to put on this simple phrase. From the original explanation, it is clear that Rush hopes that Obama fails to enact his policies–not that the country suffers at his hands.
I have faith that the American people can still see you guys for the loons and plate-spinners you are.

The rivalry between King and Rush goes back 20 years.
A lot of readers probably don’t know Larry King was once the leading talk radio host in America. He really was a big fish, with a very popular and actually a very good overnight radio program.
When Rush went national in 1988, callers to Larry King’s show used to ask what he thought of the new guy on the radio, Rush Limbaugh. And King would always say “never heard of the guy.”
Well you knew darn well King knew about Rush, so his dismissive attitude showed a lack of class.
I don’t think King ever acknowledged Rush’s existence until some time in the 90s when he could no longer deny it.
Now that Rush has eclipsed King in every possible way, I can imagine there is some bitterness there on King’s part. That’s part of the psycho drama here.

Not the way I figure it because the grabs will have to start in the cities, and those won’t be easy nuts to crack. There will be signs of what is coming allowing people like me to take step.
I live in the exurbs and a goodly portion of my guns are already ensconced in gun safes on my land up north. If a grab begins, the balance of my iron will disappear; I keep a couple of cheapies around that can be used to mollify the BATF or whomever. They get a couple of run-down .22’s and an old bolt action shotgun while my serious shooters are safe in the cabin.

Before anyone can discourse on this subject, basic premises must be agreed to:
.
Obama’s policies (healthcare, welfare, education, etc) have NOTHING to do with any type of “stimulus”. These are all intended to create more dependence on gubmint.
.
If Obama’s policies *succeed*, America (as a country) will fail. (i.e. socialism, welfare state, nanny gubmint, etc.)
.
If Obama’s policies *fail*, America will continue to thrive.
.
.
It matters not whether the Porklosi/Ream Porkulus package can or will help the national economy… the money spent on all the supposed “bailouts” will bankrupt the country for several generations. This, in itself, will only hasten the demise of the Republic.

“treasonous.” . . . If that’s accurate then we’ll charge every one of those idiots with treason for their behavior toward Bush. The left is ruthless but they’re also so stupid.

I’m certain I read that Santelli was told to shut up now. He didn’t? That is one very brave man.

This is to all you folks (liberal or conservative)who have a negative opinion about Limbaugh that’s based on listening to the media talk about him, rather than actually listening to his show. I have always been pretty conservative but I didn’t start actually listening to Limbaugh until I got a job which allows me to be in my car during his show. I started tuning in about 6 years ago. I thought, based on the media reports, that he was a gas bag. Well, after listening to his flawless logic and dissection of the media’s bias, I am a big fan. I don’t listen every minute of every day but, when I do tune in, he’s always affirming what I know. Conservatism, capitalism, liberty and self-determination are the antithesis of liberalism, aka progressivism, aka socialism, aka communism, aka totalitarianism, aka MISERY.

I forgive Miller, she is as dumb as a rock. People that slow can’t be held accountable for everything they say, they just don’t have the mental capacity to understand.

Let’s have a Rush/Obama death match. Loser is declared guilty of treason, and is summarily executed.
Fair enough?

Thanks for the trip down memory lane…I had forgotten about that riff, and you are accurate, flash back when you said “never heard of him”, I remember that and can still hear Kings voice.

There’s no denying these people are absolute Nazis (King and whatshername).
ErinF on March 6, 2009 at 9:35 AM
I’ve said for a long time that when the Left was back in power that their blind, insane hatred for Bush would translate into a bline, insane hatred for all conservatives. We’re seeing that now, Rush is simply the biggest target.
crazy_legs on March 6, 2009 at 9:35 AM
Thanks to Obama’s attacks on Rush Limbaugh, Rush’s show listening audience has doubled in the past few weeks. No better way to teach Conservatism than to have the country tuning into RL (3) hours a day!

Stephanie Miller should stick to her dumb radio show. Her political analysis doesn’t even rise to the level of what you can get on Opie and Anthony (and that’s not an insult to O&A). As for Arianna Huffington, is it me or is it nearly impossible to follow anything she says because of that impenetrable accent of hers? Like a poodle discussing Plato.
Miller’s attempt at shock-jockery tells you all you need to know about why Lib talk radio dies on the vine.

Who is this Stephanie Miller you speak of?
