Video: Terrorist mosque in Minneapolis?

CBS News actually produced a probing look into the growing concern here in the Twin Cities that a local mosque may be producing terrorists in the Somali population. One member of the Abubakar Islamic Center has already conducted a suicide bombing in Somalia and 20 more members have disappeared, which has the FBI worried that some of these American citizens may return with a mission in mind:
Some 20 vanished last year – all American citizens – an exodus the FBI has noticed for a troubling reason.
“A man from Minneapolis became what we believe to be the first U.S. citizen to carry out a terrorist suicide bombing,” said agency director Robert Mueller.
The October attack by 27-year-old Shirwa Ahmed killed 30 near Mogadishu, and there is alarm that the skills acquired abroad could be brought back to America.
“He could have done it here,” says Omar Jamal, a Somali advocate in Minnesota. “We don’t see anything that would have prevented him from doing this right here in the heart of Minneapolis.”
Neither do the rest of us in the Twin Cities. And while the Abubakar Islamic Center uses the we-can’t-be-guilty-because-people-harrass-us defense, it looks like a lot more than coincidence that these radicalized American citizens all worshiped at the same place just before they left. Minnesota was settled largely by Scandinavians. They are, as we now know, very liberal in their world outlook. They are very nice but very naive people. I know because I went to a Scandinavian church as a kid and those people are basically like Ned Flanders. Just as Homer Simpson walks all over Ned and Ned apologizes for it, the immigrants to Minnesota are doing the same.

We’re a pathetic bunch to allow crap like this to go on in this country. We give special privileges to groups who publicly state their intentions to destroy us and elect a peckerhead-in-chief who has publicly stated that he wants to “unionize” the workforce and “redistribute the wealth” (sounds like socialism, smells like socialism, walks like socialism) of this once great nation and the FBI is “worried.” Well….that certainly makes me feel better. Of course, I don’t live next to a mosque…maybe that’s why.

This is very concerting. The way I see it we have a foreign terrorist organization recruiting (perhaps even against their will) American Citizens (or nationals living in the United States)into a foreign civil war. In my opinion, this is pretty devious at least, even if it were public (unless it’s Al Qaeda, then it’s outright wrong).
As for the lefties wanting to live under forced submission, I think they want us to join them too, so they can be our officers, or at least gloat at our misery.

We are like the town folks of Hadleyville, hiding in safety while the sheriff faces the bad guys alone. The only problem with that is we don’t have a sheriff, just a bunch of lawyers more concerned about the rights of terrorists than their potential to do harm. Eventually, someone will take one for the team and get themselves killed so that we can rile ourselves to action. My guess is that law enforcement under Dear Leader will spend more effort defending the mosques than protecting the citizens.

I had a Somali coworker a few years back. She was 19 years old and had come to the U.S. when she was six and grown up in Seattle and was going to community college.
When the towers fell she basically said (after she worked up the nerve) that America got what it deserved and that it, like Rome, wouldn’t last forever.
She said that Osama Bin Laden was “handsome” and would make other remarks from time to time about how she admired him. She responded to the events of 9/11 and the aftermath by becoming “more religious,” which meant putting on more clothes and hating America a little bit more.
She refused to discuss religion. No one who wasn’t a Muslim was allowed to mention the name “Muhammad” in her presence.
Other than that, she was a normal, intelligent, well-spoken American young adult who enjoyed her freedom and enjoyed life in the U.S.
She was studying for her citizenship test when I knew her. I’m 100% sure that she would have taken up arms against the U.S. in a second.

Alright, I have about zero confidence in the Obama administration’s efforts to keep us safe. I like civil liberties, but it needs to be kept in context, and Obama doesn’t seem to have any understanding of that. It also creeps me out more than a little that the Director of Homeland Security is someone who’s idea of security is volunteering her services to framing Clarence Thomas.
But for God’s sake, this is the United States of America. We have the best security forces, both at home and abroad, that the world has ever seen. Unless Obama’s people get in the way the FBI, CIA, and NSA are all over this. And it really creeps me out that there are people here talking about banning Islam, and not differentiating between radical mosques and the rest of the mosques. If this was a third world country that couldn’t afford to collect intelligence and act on it, then I could understand having to paint with an extremely broad brush, but we do have these resources and so there’s no reason to throw the free exercise clause, the due process clause, and any number of other core principles out the window. And it strikes me as more than a little unpatriotic to presume that we need to throw Americanism under the bus.
After 9/11 Bush made sure we didn’t get attacked again, and he didn’t have to throw out the bill of rights in the process. He exercised some emergeny powers, sure, but it’s one thing to use mergency powers, and another to just dismantle the Constitution out of paranoia.

Look, my church might be against gay marriage, but, we certainly denounce Westboro Baptist as apostate/unchristian. Well, and we don’t have a huge amount of raving lunatics like Westboro committing crimes against humanity like the Muslims do. So, their job is much harder…but it must be done.
Otherwise, I do broad brush…because, in actuality, the Koran supports the violence these “radicals” espouse and perpetrate. Knock out half the text and you might have a legitimately peaceful religion.

Minnesota’s “open arms” attitude toward the “downtrodden” of this world is noble but careless. They are having problems with this Somalian population group and has had social problems within the Hmong neighborhoods as well.
I believe the state needs to step back and take a sober look at how their policies have endangered the rest of the country.

I didnt read through all the comments, so apologies if I missed something. But I have a question:
What do you propose that we should do about this?
I saw one person suggest that Islam should be outlawed. Obviously that’s not a practical or rational solution. So what should be done?
If these allegations are true, then I’m with the rest of you: I dont want that going on. But obviously we dont have proof at the moment.
I assume (and hope) the FBI is looking into this very closely. If they havent found anything prosecutable, then what should be done? Or if they are pursuing leads, perhaps to tie this mosque in to catch some bigger fish, then do we necessarily need to prevent that from happening?
I dont mean to frame this in some left-vs-right issue (some of the comments are already laying in to Obama over this, which is a bit silly since it’s not as if this mosque suddenly appeared on January 20). None of us wants the US to suffer another terrorist attack. I just want to know what we should do that is not already being done.

Hmmm…interesting. After listening to the lefty loons screaming for the last 8 years that Bush was destroying our consitution and taking away our rights by eavesdropping on certain communications under the pretense of keeping America safe (pretense according to the left as the left never did and still doesn’t think there’s a terrorist threat) one would think after hearing all of that lefty rhetoric for the last 8 years that we no longer have a constitution to be dismantled as the evil Bushitler had already destroyed it and declared marshal law…just saying.
I also don’t see anything wrong with identifying enemies of the state and taking the required and necessary steps to eliminate the threat. Had these Islamic radicals been conducting such things (plotting and inciting jihad against the West and their host nation) just 50-60 years ago our government would not have hesitated to start breaking down doors and dispatching them by throwing them out of the country, locking them away in prison, or shooting them dead for being the treasonous America hating biatches they are!
As some have stated, if we are attacked again and our government fails to act upon these radical elements within our nation to protect the union (our governments first priority) then there will be many of us that will and should step up to do what needs to be done.

The next time they hit us with a big attack they’ll use recent white converts from prison who will claim Sarah Palin, Newt, Mitt and Mormons were their inspiration. They learn and adapt while we reinforce our PC willful blindness.
