Sorry, you’re totally wrong. See here and here for why you are wrong. I won’t hijack this thread to go into details. Smith was certainly not a pro-life candidate. He’s a registered Democrat and an environmentalist activist. Christen is a registered Independent and used to work for one of the more conservative law firms in the state. Neither candidate was one that she would have chosen. Palin is hamstrung by the Missouri Plan which is used in Alaska. She had two choices: one was an environmental activist and the other was Christen. She chose the one that was best for her state — a state which relies on resource development.

Ha! Hi, Rush!
I still don’t get the criticism of Allah, though…I like him and it is my persoanl mission to “christianize” him! (kidding.) Anyway, Hotair is lifeblood for me…I love this site.
Mommypundit on March 6, 2009 at 5:10 AM
Now having been mentioned on Rush’s show Hot Air is officially the coolest place on the planet! Muwahahahahahah!

Mommypundit
You’d have more luck trying to “christianize” Osama bin Laden. He would certainly be less snarky about it.
But I also need a daily helping of Hotair, so I’m with you on that.

Allah is still not getting it… Rush is NOT a danger to America or Conservatives, or freedoms, or The Constitution.

The sides have been drawn, the line in the sand has been drawn. Rush refers to Democrats and liberals as “them” like the other side is somehow different from real people (i.e conservatives) Seems to me the voters decided who is right in 2006 and 2008. Just so you folks know, our will is much stronger on this side of the aisle. Your leader is Rush, talk show host, ours is Obama, POTUS. Touche
athensboy on March 6, 2009 at 7:14 AM
AP’s a big boy and handles himself quite well….the Frummian wing of the party is so large he has the inherent psychological wherewithal to know “oh yeah….I have the millions of Evangelical, faux libertarian, snarky atheists behind me……”
Really he’ll be fine.

I’m not worried. Just putting in my two cents.
Is that alright with you? Or should I have requested permission first?
blatantblue on March 6, 2009 at 7:16 AM
Congrats, Ed and AP, our treasured oddball.
I’d say that as a general rule, that’s right. Rush has said on his show that he doesn’t normally read comments any more because they’ve become so inane. But occasionally he makes references and remarks that suggest he sometimes scans the comments here, and probably a few other sites where the comments are more adult-like. Maybe more useful than message and bright ideas, comments give a sense of approval/disapproval and popular opinion about things that’s more readily accessible than anywhere else.

Your will is stronger? Please. You’ve all carried the war protest signs for so long now you actually believe you’re anti-war and not just a bunch of cowards. What you guys have done to this country in the last two years with the economy and last 7 with your treasonous opposition to the war has nothing to do with will.

That’s about sums it up in these, the early days of his Administration. That judgment will grow deservedly, though, as time goes by. I’m pretty sure it will pass EPIC FAILURE and ANNALS OF HISTORY FAILURE, too, and a new word will eventually have to be created to describe it accurately.

MartianOddball. My problem with Terryonline is that she is operating in the realm of ignorance. She offers no substantive criticism of Rush or Coulter because she can’t.

Buy Danish on March 6, 2009 at 8:15 AM
Quite true. She makes statements that she doesn’t back up with a reasoned argument, and then resorts to saying she just feels that way. That’s fine, and certainly the way most people work, but not those you want to have a serious conversation with.
JiangxiDad on March 6, 2009 at 8:20 AM
No big problem with Rush’s quote here, but perhaps a nit or two. Rush’s own schtick is a “playful arrogance.” Allah’s is a “playful contemptuousness,” which had me from day one of his defunct blog–that ol’ prophet Allah had a shiver running up my leg.
The term “oddball” though, is a hair too pejorative; “Refreshingly odd” or perhaps better, “Unique” is how many of us prefer to see his contributions.
And by the way, I, for one, am glad that HotAir’s hitting the jackpot of a major Rushbo plug didn’t set off a humpbot clip.
G. Charles on March 6, 2009 at 8:24 AM
Oh, come now. Allah is brilliant, interesting, and writes with a lovely acid. How dull would it be around here if, like some left wing site, we succumbed to an impulse to banish all perceived heresy, no matter how trivial? We would be the Roman Catholic Church of the 14th Century.

runner on March 6, 2009 at 8:45 AM
“the guys at Powerline”–how many guys manage that show?
“some oddballs”–the plural applies
But Allahpundit can reference AGAIN that Limbaugh shows ample and confident respect and appreciation for Malkin’s abilities.
So much for “some oddballs” who can’t see in front of their collective nose that Limbaugh is an equal opportunity thinker with the good sense to tap into what’s happening and recognize the big picture, seeing through masks and through charades to name things as they are. Real people mature in that way. Fakes and frauds don’t.
Limbaugh’s “highbrow” critics (not all highbrows are his critics, remember) are the sophisticate elitists who hate being called out for playing the scabs promoting “Socialism In Our Time”. Their anger intensifies all the more as what they deem as their right to their superiority complex dissolves under the heat.
I maintain that among Limbaugh’s innate gifts are an accurate sense for the Zeitgeist and the drive to hammer the implications home on a daily basis while interacting with his audience that includes critics.
Those highbrow critics envy both Limbaugh’s perception and his endurance, and take it upon themselves to muzzle ANY OPPOSITION. They muzzle through restraint on free movement or expression, through censorship, and through the forward, discharging end of their weapon armed with overt or covert presumed elitist privilege.

Yeah “fair media”
sven10077 on March 6, 2009 at 8:53 AM
Exactly. For example, I can cite one specific criticism I have of Rush, and that was the football analogy he used at his CPAC speech, which made me cringe.
When it comes to sports I think you should want your team to win because they do a better job, not because the other team screwed up or because a player “made a fool of himself”. When, say, you’re watching a tennis match or golf tournament, it is bad form to cheer when a player makes an error or misses a shot.
However, if the USTA or PGA wanted to change the rules so that less competent players were rewarded at the expense of better players then it would be fine to say you wanted them to fail.
Buy Danish on March 6, 2009 at 9:04 AM
sven: the problem with W is that he never, ever fought back against the press. he would send cheney (who i personally love) to the Sunday morning news shows, but Cheney isn’t exactly perky/positive. and i thought Bush was wrong for not saying something.

My gripe applies to all media: repetition of a point for hours at a time. But I understand the requirement to catch the coming and going channel changers up to speed after each break.
This past year, perhaps because the damned POTUS campaign lasted longer than ever, perhaps because there’s more to cover now, I have noticed more recently that Rush covers a lot more agenda per program than what I noticed before. I may simply be giving more attention now than in years previous. Then again, that sense may be based upon my having realized that I appreciate Rush now more than before.

Mark Garnett on March 6, 2009 at 9:50 AM
My gripe applies to all media: repetition of one trivial topic per days of threads while neglecting serious issues.
Of itself, unrecorded, a radio broadcast is finite in time. Whereas a blog site’s written record provides a more permanent referential access. So the persistence of TOO MANY THREADS on one stupid topic is a lazy public response when there are international events and implications that REQUIRE awareness and attention for effective response.
Newspapers are folding because people are using internet news sources.
Ed Morrissey takes the role of journalistic responsibility seriously, which is why the competitive Malkin got him to close his blog and join hers.
The nameless Allahpundit takes the muckrucking job seriously but not with journalistic responsibility. Though talented, he has yet to overcome an immature mental block. The effect of “anything for affect” is a pain in the *ss.
maverick muse on March 6, 2009 at 9:52 AM

Hmm, read it.
So, Candyass either missed me or he’s saying there’s no substance to what I post (sniff, sniff…sniff) I’ll admit I kid a lot when I post. I might make point here and there. He might be gay, black and live in DC but his “professor” creds are highly questionable.

Just to add my $0.02 to this shout-out. It seems to me that Rush was talking not only about the writers, but also the various topics that get posted here at hotair. I would gather that the oddballs are, well….the oddballs, the palate cleansers, the weird stuff that AllahPundit finds and posts, and may or may not comment on. So, Rush was generally calling out AP, but only for his unique choices of items that get posted here.
