He’s not elected, he has no impact on your life and you can pretend he doesn’t exist. But other than that I can see how you would get them confused. Can you not get someone to show you how to change your radio station? Or at the very least, turn it off.
Cindy Munford on March 5, 2009 at 11:34 PM
So, deliberate exclusion of Allahpundit. I got nothing against El Rushbo -never heard his show- but don’t mess with Allahpundit

Mojave Mark on March 5, 2009 at 11:42 PM
It can’t be full retard, man, because I still can relate to ya. You put up with way too much cr*p man; you’re one of the foundations of this site, whether you admit to it or not; when Michelle stopped doing the vents, I stayed with it because I enjoy your stuff, whether I agree with you or not. Keep at it.
You made me spit up beer. Not funny. Huckabee is a conservative. Yeah. Well, at a casual glance, he governed remarkably like Bill Clinton, except he didn’t expose himself to women. Oh. It’s the bible thing. Since he beats you about the head and shoulders with bible quotes, he’s a conservative. Well, Bill Clinton used to carry a big honkin’ bible around. I guess he must have been a conservative too.
Look, I’m all for the GOP killing itself in a spectacularly disgusting manner; we had the 2008 faceplant campaign with Backdoor John…so who are we guaranteed to lose with in 2012. Personally, I’m hoping we can go full maverick and run McCain/Lieberman; just to shut the moderates up…but I’m betting McCain will probably demur, so my next hope is Specter. Now Huckabee would probably be a great runner up. No telling what kind of stupid sh*t will dribble out of his mouth during the campaign; if we’re lucky, he may say something horribly inappropriate about Barrack Obama that the media can tar us with for generations. Thing is though; he doesn’t have much ‘Stab you in the back’ Maverick cred like Specter does. Huckabee is just some backwoods hayseed that governs like a Democrat. Boring. But Specter..the media could ramp up the faux maverick enthusiasm with him right up until he gets blown out by 300 electoral votes. No, you gotta support Specter. Remember, this is the new GOP. We like to lose BIG. Remember, we don’t throw away our garbage; we eat it.

Hey, AP. Now that you’re all encouraged by Rush’s semi-mention of you, are you thinking what I’m thinking?
Tomorrow I fully expect a thunderstorm of Dude posts, cryptozoology, Octomom, Hitchens, midget videos and assorted curiosities. It’s what makes you great
Baphomet on March 5, 2009 at 11:43 PM
Yes it is sad. Don’t get me wrong, the FDIC can’t go under. But jeez all Pete, I thought we addressed FDIC problems with Paulson’s stupid plan. And this statement scares me:
Yay! Another source for hundreds of billions of dollars. And what does “systemic risks in the economy” mean? That seems a lot broader than simply insuring deposits. Seriously, what the heck is going on? Dude, I’m going to bed. Wake me when it all collapses.

I heard this live and laughed. AP, you’re awesome taking this in good stride. It didn’t seem an insult; more of a “I’m not sure what’s going on there…” He didn’t seem to have the scorn for you that he would a David Brooks.

Oh I have in spirts…over the years.
As I got older, got sick I’m just not that easliy led or impressed by the gasbag movement.
The end result is always the same. The only ones who ever seem to benefit is the gasbag, after they stir the pot one more time.
I realize why most people listen to Talk Radio – mainly to be assured by the gasbag, no matter whether it’s Rush or someone on the other extreme like Olbermann.
I don’t need to be assured by anyone other than my husband and my family. I’m more of the type who gains my strength from them than talk radio guys.

We are all in this together. The minute we forget that, it is all overwith.
Malkin/Morrisey 2012!

lsutiger on March 6, 2009 at 12:03 AM
I’ll take that as a thanks to all us real conservatives here at Hotair. Rush is the man and he is doing great at going after Obama, I think he needs to lay off Steele b/c Steele needs to be given a shot before he is taken down.

Good. Glad I got your attention. Oh, here’s a napkin.
Hahahaha…
KAHNNNNNNN!!!!!
Not funny.
Ding Ding Ding, We Have a Winner!
And that my dear Watson, is the primary reason why Huckabee was rejected by the republican establishment and why so-called conservative talk radio focused so much on smearing him, the real Christian, while ignoring the phony one they all collectively supported. They are not real conservatives. They are bought and paid for by multinational corporations who own the entire news media in America. And that is why if we don’t build an alternative media. If we don’t build alternatives to them. If we don’t start to build a mass movement to take this country back from them – we’re doomed.
apacalyps on March 6, 2009 at 12:07 AM
Allahpundit,
It’s great to see you interact with the HA community on this thread! On any thread for that matter. This is a nice twist.
Rush is right once again; the Powerline boys do a great job and have created a unique blog site for all of us to enjoy and participate in. Newsbusters is a site I have just started to explore. Michelle Malkin is simply brilliant, and Captain Ed Morrisey has a chance to be special, really special.
Personally, I enjoy you also AP. I think your willingness to get in these threads a bit and mix it up with us will only help us to get to know you better.
Ed brought some special people with him here from Captains Quarters. However, many brilliant people were already here, and I have enjoyed getting to know them by way of the comment section. Coldwarrior & onlineanalyst are brilliant, as are so many of you.
Of coarse, I think the world of Rush. My family stands with Rush, as I know so many of you do as well.

clnurnberg on March 6, 2009 at 12:30 AM
And for the record there are a lot of really decent people who listen to conservative talk radio, many fine Americans, true Bible-believing Christians. I’m just saying it is essential we build a real conservative movemement because these multinational billionare elites who own conservative talk radio now do NOT have Americans best interests at heart.

Rush is anything but a “gasbag” and we don’t happen to be living in very reassuring times right now.
Heard “gasbag” Jim Cramer lately?
The problems we’re grappling with are a lot bigger than your husband and family, but sooner than you think, NObama’s Socialist policies will impact them, also.
Jenfidel on March 6, 2009 at 12:36 AM
For the record, I was a lib before I began listening to Limbaugh. At first I found him and his humor repulsive but as I listened and began reading some of his sources, the more enamored of his approach I became. He does have AMerica’s best interest at heart. No so, Obama.
clnurnberg on March 6, 2009 at 12:39 AM
I’m tickled by the “oddball” mention, seriously.
Allahpundit on March 5, 2009 at 10:07 PM
Just wondering where that tickle feeling struck you, curious if this is a common condition with media type’s.
heshtesh on March 6, 2009 at 12:39 AM
Rush is a Christian, a fine American and always has Americans’ best interests at heart.
BTW, he doesn’t “own” conservative talk radio–he’s under contract to them.
The fact that he’s made himself a multi-millionaire doing what he does it the beauty of it.
What is a “multinational billionaire?”

I’m glad you qualified Oblerman as extreme. I’m sure strength can be had through family, friends, and even the occasional blogsite. When my wife and I work, we both like to listen to talk radio and Rush. That’s because today’s music radio stations tedious repetition drives us senseless. But I digress….
It’s the context of Rush’s monologue that’s entertaining and intelligently thought provoking. We also listen to NPR to gain a different perspective. Then a discussion on the value of the newsworthy stories and their presentation.
Guess what gets discussed most?
Kini on March 6, 2009 at 12:49 AM
he’ll tell you all about it but first you have to put on your Tin Foil Hat Protection Device so the waves won’t compel you to tune in from noon to three eastern…..”HURRY!”
sven10077 on March 6, 2009 at 12:50 AM
It’s men like Limbaugh who presch a personal responsibility sermon based on hard work and acheivement. It’s men like Obama who say “sit on your ass and government will provide as other people are responsible for your welfare”.
It’s clear to me who has our best interests at heart.
clnurnberg on March 6, 2009 at 12:51 AM
To them, the demorats, we are children. Unable to care for ourselves. The Great Unwashed Masses…
The question is…. have the GOP gotten the message?
Kini on March 6, 2009 at 12:56 AM
Well even if you accept the government as parent view, and I don’t, the goal of a responsible parent is to encourage the child to achieve and to leave the nest ready to care for his own needs. Again Limbaugh in a landslide and I do hope the GOP understands the message
clnurnberg on March 6, 2009 at 1:04 AM
Oddball was one of the biggest and greatest of Kelly’s Hero’s.
Mike D. on March 6, 2009 at 1:12 AM
I do not accept the government as a parent. I was making an analogy of Obama and the democrats policy of being a Nanny state.
I agree a responsible parent is to provide what’s needed to help the child grow and flourish. As I believe it is not the role of the government to assume the role of provider.
Even an atheists can see the value of the conservative lifestyle, the moral standards, economic level, etc., that together constitute the mode of living of an individual or group.
It is those that voted for Obama that need to have some kind of a “Come to Jesus” awakening before its all too late. And it may be too late.
There is… always the possibility of a recall.
Kini on March 6, 2009 at 1:18 AM
Not at the Federal level….that is what impeachment was for until Operation Free Willie! altered the meaning of impeachable offense forever….
sven10077 on March 6, 2009 at 1:21 AM
Point.
Kini on March 6, 2009 at 1:22 AM
It’s really amazing the way the donks and Bill’s lawyers got away with trying to sell the notion that impeachment had requirements for court of law levels of proof….I truly do think the idiotic OJ case is what saved Bill’s bacon….the idea the police are a TV show or crime ever ends in a Scooby Doo “I would have gotten away with it except that first Lady and her shaggy dog” routine is really quite profound…..

Allahpundit absolutely made this site what it is today. Bryan was great, and Michelle and the Vents were fun, but AP was the driving force in my (correct) opinion. Ed and Allah make for a delicious balance and MM’s blog rounds out the menu.
I don’t want to agree with everything I read. Why bother? Allah challenges our intellect and pokes just as much fun at himself as he does everyone else’s personal peeves and sacred cows. Like Rush, AP is not afraid to say that which he knows will be met with disapproval and disdain.

I’m late to this thread, and much has been said…
Ah, screw the poetry.
I heard this live, and the second he said the oddball comment I knew without a doubt who it was. Definitely Allahpudit! Just be glad you’re not Coddington Van Vorhees VII, or Chatsworth Osbourne Jr.
I can say for sure Rush did not mean any of the commenters. I have heard him say that to retain his sanity he does not read comments on blogs. I can understand that, given how our old friend Shelby the Protector of Arctic Wolves and Denouncer of Pregger Teenage Daughters Of Hot Governors made me nuts awhile back. Perhaps my sanity is far beyond preservation, given how much time I’ve spent on these threads of late. Most of you people are fun to converse with, but a few get under my skin from time to time:)
Congrats on the free publicity, Allah! Will you need to hire a PR firm to handle all the media requests? Going to chat with DL Hughley about that torchlight Nuremberg RNC rally? David “the tool” Shuster and Anderson Cooper 180 may be after you soon. Maybe Larry King will live long enough to get you to tell him what’s wrong with all those Bible thumpin’ NASCAR shittoheads (sooo clever that).
I kid because I care :)
Brian1972 on March 6, 2009 at 3:54 AM
Another thing:
Back before Ed left the Captain’s Quarters in drydock, he and Rush corresponded about that chronic back problem that led to the addiction episode, and Rush made a point of thanking Ed for his kindness on the air. Rush does not forget such things, and that is why he made a point of thanking Ed by name. He could not leave out Michelle either, having referenced her work often over the last several years. Such vicious thuggery, eh?
Rush is really a very nice and thoughtful guy, very generous too. As long as you are not dumping on conservatism or freedom there is no hostility from him. He’s all good humor, unless you mess around with Reagan’s legacy. That gets him teed off, and he will turn his large-calibre rhetorical guns on you, and fire away. That is how I see it.
