Uh oh: Matthews sounding fed up with Obama’s earmark hypocrisy

posted at 8:24 pm on March 4, 2009 by Allahpundit
Share on Facebook | printer-friendly

Buckley turning on him was predictable, Brooks turning on him was a pleasant surprise if not unthinkable — but Mr. Leg Thrill? This isn’t the first time he’s expressed exasperation with The One’s performance lately, either. If he’s losing Matthews, whither the rest of the media’s Hopenchange sycophants?

As Ace notes, Obama’s not indifferent to all extravagant spending. Just the kind that might improve America’s defense.

if you’ve lost Chris Tingle Bambi you may want to go crash another USMC mess event in your “home state” again….

sven10077 on March 4, 2009 at 8:27 PM

Like I said, March is now

The Month of the Epiphany!!!!

blatantblue on March 4, 2009 at 8:27 PM

Time to amputate, Chrissywissy.

snickelfritz on March 4, 2009 at 8:28 PM

Why shouldn’t he be fed up? With evidence like this, I am beginning to wonder about those so called leaders in D.C.

carbon_footprint on March 4, 2009 at 8:28 PM

Maybe Chrissy has finally got his meds right.

TheSitRep on March 4, 2009 at 8:29 PM

Wow. Next thing you know, Matthews will be saying “I regret my vote for Obama.” After that, we’ll be up to our ears in flying pigs.

Physics Geek on March 4, 2009 at 8:29 PM

some of these guys have to define themselves as opposition, give it time, the Bush did Iraq so the lies of Obama are okay thing has about a year left if less then that.

rob verdi on March 4, 2009 at 8:29 PM

WHEW! We really dodged that Palin bullet!

RedSoxNation on March 4, 2009 at 8:30 PM

Maybe Matthews hasn’t been invited to the WH yet.

If he’s losing Matthews, whither the rest of the media’s Hopenchange sycophants?

There will always be Olbermann.

The day he loses Olbermann is the day he’s done for.

Tacitus_SGL on March 4, 2009 at 8:31 PM

Beware the Ides of Matthews!

It tingles in your back.

Et tu, Chrissy?

profitsbeard on March 4, 2009 at 8:31 PM

So, that tingle down Matthews’ leg is now tinkle?

token disagreement, just for show.

However, you have lightyears to go until you make up for your bias.

carbon_footprint on March 4, 2009 at 8:34 PM

Matthews learned from the Master, all proclamations come with an expiration date…. heh, heh, heh….

Hog Wild on March 4, 2009 at 8:35 PM

JeffinOrlando on March 4, 2009 at 8:36 PM

genso on March 4, 2009 at 8:36 PM

I finally have a tingle up MY leg.

txag92 on March 4, 2009 at 8:36 PM

Nice job, CM. I actually think he’s more of an insider then a hack. Meaning, he loves the process, leans hard left, but more then anything else he likes being emotional about politics.

Spirit of 1776 on March 4, 2009 at 8:36 PM

It is amazing how Obama manages to say one thing while doing its opposite without batting an eye. I still remember that radio address after he signed the stimulus bill where he talked about the need to reduce the federal deficit. Just unbelievable.

kc8ukw on March 4, 2009 at 8:36 PM

Once GE gets that bailout money, Chris Matthews will have to go back to getting those tingly feelings.

On a slightly more serious note, I have noticed the last few times I’ve tuned into Hardball for a couple minutes(I can’t take more than that before I start feeling nauseous) that Matthews is getting visibly frustrated with Obama.

Maybe he really bought into the myth as apparently did many others that this was some sort of transformative, post-partisan figure who would change Washington. Why anyone living in the real world who took 5 seconds to look up Obama’s political background would believe that nonsense is beyond me. Maybe I’m just a cynic. But as long as these dupes are willing to admit they were hoodwinked, I’ll at least give them an ounce of respect for doing that.

Doughboy on March 4, 2009 at 8:36 PM

Oh please, the president just needs to give Chris one of those come hither looks and all will be forgiven.

Cindy Munford on March 4, 2009 at 8:37 PM

JiangxiDad on March 4, 2009 at 8:37 PM

His annual physical revealed it was Restless Leg Syndrome all this time…

Christien on March 4, 2009 at 8:37 PM

1. Why the question mark after the line about McCain? Is MSNBC really going to try to pretend that McCain hasn’t been an anti-earmark activist for years?

2. Matthews appears to be angry that he fell for a pathological liar. Well, I’m not sure he’s fully aware of it yet, but I have hope that he is smart enough to get it eventually.

The last few months have been surreal, kinda like being caught in a terrible soap opera where seemingly intelligent people all got into serious relationships with the wrong guy….and I mean the very wrong guy…..the guy who was already married–to Karl Marx and Bernardine Dohrn.

funky chicken on March 4, 2009 at 8:37 PM

for the next 4 years at least.

Never happen. It’s only been 6 weeks. Either he goes or I do. Unless he’s under WH arrest–maybe with a cuff around his leg after he’s been caught doing drugs in the oval office.

JiangxiDad on March 4, 2009 at 8:42 PM

Matthews says McCain is the only Republican we know or could recognize. Shoot. I know who these various Republicans are, and I’m not even a Republican!

I think Chris Matthews should try something brand new and somewhat modest, and try to NOT speak for everyone.

On the other hand, it cheers me to see him getting irked at the financial ruination that faces so many of us. I guess he is losing his money, too, and he’s just none to fond of that. Kind of surprising, since you would have thought he would lay down his life for Obama, in addition to his life savings.

That other guy on there, who kept excusing Obama – what a wimp. Of COURSE wall street cares that every sign coming out of Washington – including not cutting down this budget – is anti-business and anti-economy.

Alana on March 4, 2009 at 8:43 PM

Chrissy might want to tread carefully here else he end up as “The worst person in the world!” Olbermann will not take this lightly.

Oldnuke on March 4, 2009 at 8:44 PM

Looks like McCain is back to being Chrissy’s favorite democrat.

JeffinOrlando on March 4, 2009 at 8:36 PM

several of us here correctly added 2+2 when McCain’s crew started slagging Palin….Mav wanted “Top Dem” back in the sentate and thus far he’s gotten it.

sven10077 on March 4, 2009 at 8:44 PM

I’m guessing those “butt-boy” comments by Rush are finding their mark.

Joan of Argghh on March 4, 2009 at 8:45 PM

Maybe Chrissy’s accountant explained to him what his disposable income would be after all the Obama tax changes.

Wethal on March 4, 2009 at 8:45 PM

I see two possible reasons for Mr. Tingle`s sudden “awakening”
He`s either hopping on the (hopefully growing) bash Obammie bandwagon, OR he`s seeing the writing on the wall and is looking to backpedal. Either way tingles is pure human scum but it is a little schadenfreude-lishious. When olby crosses (it`s only a matter of time, none of those hacks have any form of spine or credulity) THEN you know bammie in the shyte.

NY Conservative on March 4, 2009 at 8:47 PM

Sorry, Chris, but this is what you get with a candidate who’s about little more than celebrity.

What’s worse is that Obama is what the country gets when a majority of voters decide to support a candidate with supposed intelligence (the jury is still out for me) and supposed oratorical skills (saying one thing and doing another leaves my unimpressed) when the candidate has no character and integrity.

Intelligence and presentational polish without character and integrity combine to make a pretty useless human being.

I am not sold that Chris has lost his loving feeling yet. I saw him earlier with Pat Buchanan and it was pretty surreal.
