Zo wonders: Is Rush Limbaugh more like Hitler or Malcolm X?

posted at 8:10 pm on March 3, 2009 by Allahpundit

His conclusion, after a brief CPAC recap and ode to my beloved boss: Not at all like one, very much like the other. I wonder where Rush critic-in-chief David Frum would come down on that question. Both Hitler and Malcolm X were, after all, “saturated with race consciousness”:

The same applies to Rush’s yearning for a domestic failure for President Obama. His wish sounds (and will certainly be made to sound) like a wish for more economic hardship, more bankruptcies, more layoffs, more foreclosures. Nor is Limbaugh content to offer that wish for disaster only in his own name. He added in a broadcast last Friday, “The dirty little secret …is that every Republican in the country wants Obama to fail, but none of them have the guts to say so.” Those words too will be tossed into the teeth of every Republican in an economically hard-pressed district. “You won’t admit you want the recession to be worse – but Rush Limbaugh admitted it for you.”

Limbaugh explained at CPAC that he has some reserved private meaning to his words. He means only that he wishes the president’s harmful program to be rejected in Congress – or in some other way prevented from going into effect. But that’s not what the listener of the Limbaugh radio program hears, and frankly, I don’t think that Limbaugh’s CPAC explanation is precisely accurate. When Rush goes on to say that the only reason Republicans refrain from openly wishing for disaster is their fear of challenging a black-skinned president, as he again and again does, he is revealing that there is something more going on here than a mere call for more economic individualism. Limbaugh’s wishes for Obama’s failure are saturated with race consciousness – a race consciousness that Limbaugh (again falsely) attributes to the whole Republican Party. And he’ll be believed on this too.

Reid’s already pushing the “Republicans want Obama to fail” meme, in fact. I don’t think Zo addresses the subject directly, but I can’t be sure — my head’s always spinning after I watch one of his clips. Enjoy.

I’m tired of this stupidity. Why should rush concern himself with what a moron like frum “hears?” How about frum puts a little effort into what rush is litterally saying? People cannot and should not be held responsible for what dumb people hear.

tarpon on March 3, 2009 at 8:23 PM

I couldn’t believe that video of Larry King (of all people!) aggressively pushing the “GOP wants the country to suffer” meme. But the card the left is trying to play, as I see it is, “but what if it works, shouldn’t you support it?” That’s what King kept trying to get back to, and I’ve seen others do it as well lately.

I’ll probably take a (rhetorical) beating for this, but to me that seems like the rapist demanding we stop fighting and saying, “but what if you have an orgasm?”

There’s no room for honest policy disagreement anymore. There’s no room for the idea that I might honestly believe that these policies are harmful in and of themselves – that the loss of freedom and the encroachment of government is objectively harmful, EVEN IF we don’t have to relive the Depression, but especially if (as I believe) we may have to do. And that really just pisses me off.

His rants on the “plantation”, “slavery”, and the “40 years of spell” were fabulous.

He explains socialism, Hitler, the loooter/moochers being like Hitler, and Malcolm X, better than the media could ever imagine to, not that they’d want to.

When Rush goes on to say that the only reason Republicans refrain from openly wishing for disaster is their fear of challenging a black-skinned president, as he again and again does, he is revealing that there is something more going on here than a mere call for more economic individualism.

Did Rush really say that, or has it been misrepresented? It doesn’t sound like Rush to me — unless he was making some convoluted point about racism — because he has frequently stated that it doesn’t matter to him what race the President is.

I want the dems and Obama to fail so badly i want their policies to fail so badly that liberalism/progressism will be a curse word for 200 years into the future. I want Obama to do to liberalism what bush did to comassionate conservatism. Relagate it to the dustbin of history. I want all the idiots that voted for the twit to understand what a massive mistake they made and I esp want the liberal white guilt crowd to lose their life savings because of their boneheaded vote.

We hear all the time that elections have consequences. Maybe if the idiots that voted for this man see their entire personal wealth go down the crapper maybe then they will understand the consequences of their actions.

It is called tough love and liberals have never had to deal with it in their lives.

I hope and pray that Obama is a laughing stock by the time he leaves office.

progressoverpeace on March 3, 2009 at 8:41 PM

Lenin almost failed. He came pretty close to failing. The only reason why he didn’t was because he bailed on true Communism/socialism at the last possible second and instituted market economics. Stalin undid those changes and almost bit the dust himself, but the US recognition of the USSR (from communist democrats on our side of the pond) came at a critical time.

If you get the chance, read ‘The Naked Communist’ by Skousen. It’s a pretty good view of Communism in that time frame (but it’s severely outdated! Nevertheless it’s a good read). Better yet, google ‘A time for Decision’ (or something like that): it’s a speech given by Ronald Reagan during the Goldwater campaign. It will make your head spin about what the goons in FDR’s admin did back then.

A Time For Choosing, Rendezvous With Destiny, October 1964

Mallard T. Drake on March 4, 2009 at 12:42 AM

The 25 points of Hitlers Nazi Party

Note in particular point 24 and point 25:

24. We demand freedom for all religious faiths in the state, insofar as they do not endanger its existence or offend the moral and ethical sense of the Germanic race.

The party as such represents the point of view of a positive Christianity without binding itself to any one particular confession. It fights against the Jewish materialist spirit within and without, and is convinced that a lasting recovery of our folk can only come about from within on the pinciple:

COMMON GOOD BEFORE INDIVIDUAL GOOD

25. In order to carry out this program we demand: the creation of a strong central authority in the State, the unconditional authority by the political central parliament of the whole State and all its organizations.

These read as very similar to liberal or “progressive” ideas.

You go, Zo!

I think it is safe to say Rush is neither Hitler or Malcolm X. I realize that Democrats want to make the GOP all Rush all the time in the hopes that their guy will look all wonderful in comparison..but they might live to regret that.

Rush on the other hand will get lots of publicity out of all this. It can only help him professionally.

Saltysam on March 4, 2009 at 9:29 AM

ZO is what makes U.S. strong and vibrant, why you ask? Because, he is real. He speaks his mind and is not afraid to tell us the truth – unfortunately many of U.S. do not want to hear the truth.

His delivery (the acoustics and speed) are what makes U.S. listen. The chosen acoustics keep the message coming back 2-3 times so we do not forget. The speed is intentional, the brain is capable of fully understanding a message delivered at 750 plus words a minute, but to understand the same message in text can only be digested at 200 words a minute. So the speed of delivery makes your mind to focus so you do not miss a word and the acoustics reinforce the spoken words.

The bottom line – listen and read later to reinforce your understanding.
