Video: Cramer goes nuclear on Obama, White House rips Cramer

I think he’s worked up here but I can’t tell for sure: Much like Glenn Beck, because his default state is one of unnerving intensity, it’s hard to tell when he feels passionately about something from when he’s behaving normally. But here he is on last night’s show, teetering between Hayekian wisdom and madness in laying blame for the Dow’s downturn at the feet of Zeus’s Olympian throne. These aren’t the comments that caused Gibbs to take a shot at him at today’s White House presser, incidentally; those came on the Today show this morning, but were really just a precis of his longer argument here. Follow the link to TV Newser for the vid and Gibbs’s reaction (which, in fairness, isn’t inaccurate). Exit quotation from Cramer: “This is the greatest wealth destruction I’ve seen by a president.”

I don’t even know what sort of male (alpha, beta, etc) Beck is.
Weird Male?
blatantblue on March 3, 2009 at 5:51 PM
And this guy voted for Obama.
Norwegian on March 3, 2009 at 5:51 PM
Gibb’s reaction “isn’t accurate”. NO, can’t be. He’s the white house press secretary.
Skandia Recluse on March 3, 2009 at 5:52 PM
Well I guess he won’t be invited on The Colbert Report any time soon.
Tacitus_SGL on March 3, 2009 at 5:52 PM
Yeah. Any guy who says “weep” as often as Beck does is clearly in the weird camp.
lorien1973 on March 3, 2009 at 5:52 PM
I’m more suprised about how quiet the media has been about Obama’s snub and international FLUB of both Russian relations and the Iranian problem simultaneously.
(Or maybe I’m not).
This just shows Obama’s Alinskyism in action again.
Anybody remember how much flac Bill Maher got when the Bush White House just insinuated a personal attack on him?
Oh that’s right… NONE because all the flac was on the Bush White House for attacking individuals.
Skywise on March 3, 2009 at 5:52 PM
You know, these NBC business folks better be careful. They might end up having to move over to Fox and bigger audiences.

Hey, how can I be attacked by this White House. I want to be attacked by this administration. If I were to be criticized by this regime I would consider it a high honor.

Didn’t Cramer criticize Santelli for this sort of televised behavior last week?

I like his radio show, but the theatrics on TV kind of pisses me off. It’s entertaining on the AM on the way to skrewel, but IDK, his TV stuff…
blatantblue on March 3, 2009 at 5:55 PM
This calling out of American’s by name to silence them is horribly unAmerican! Free speech is one of the best things about living in America and now they are trying to censor citizens one by one. They are a bunch of thugs, very uprofessional. I really hope that this backfires on them. Maybe the coveted independents will wake up by 2010, if not, maybe at least by 2012.
TampaBayBull on March 3, 2009 at 5:57 PM
BTW – did anyone catch Matt Lauer’s reaction to Gibb’s targeting of Santelli? Check it out at 2:19 Basically Lauer said “well, you criticized the President, so don’t you expect the President to criticize you back?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AQW4zDvsqgA
Do a search on YouTube for Santelli, Lauer, and check out the video that folks are posting. Yeah, nobody’s going after Santelli after Gibbs punked him. People are calling him lying punk, lying p***y, etc.
hawksruleva on March 3, 2009 at 5:58 PM
Santinelli and Cramer better watch it, or Mr. President’s friend Jeffery Immelt will be wishing them well in their future endeavors.

The Obama Euphoria is wearing off about 6 months too early. AxelRove needs to use more potent toxins next time.
portlandon on March 3, 2009 at 6:01 PM
The Obama administration’s M.O. is to get ahead of all criticism. They witnessed a Bush administration that barely ever responded to its critics and whose approval rating plummeted. Ironically, by doing the opposite, by actively counteracting every critique, Obama comes off looking like a demagogue; and in lieu of his aggressive socialist policies, even more like a despot.
dugan on March 3, 2009 at 6:02 PM
I can’t believe anyone would even use Cramer as some sort of criticism of Obama’s policies.
That’s like listening to Karl Rove talk about ethics and responsibility.
ckoeber on March 3, 2009 at 6:02 PM
Aren’t you the wiener who was whining about we need the massive govn’t spending in order to pay for healthcare on another thread?
Tacitus_SGL on March 3, 2009 at 6:03 PM
I wonder what kind of a temper tantrum little Miss Lauer would have had if GWB personally called him out, while President.
Douche.
George Orwell on March 3, 2009 at 6:04 PM
Yep, that sucking sound you hear is the sound of reasonable democrats leaving the Obama train-wreck in droves. Expect much more of this in the years to come.
These same people will be known as Palin/Jindal/Whoever the GOP nominates/-Democrats in 2012. Just like the Reagan Democrats in 1980.
Norwegian on March 3, 2009 at 6:04 PM
Cramer’s a lib, but he’s also a capitalist. I know, I know. Don’t ask me to reconcile capitalism and liberalism because I can’t do it using actual math. Nevertheless, Cramer believes in the market.
flyfisher on March 3, 2009 at 6:04 PM
One of the most ethical men and skilled political operatives ever. The left must be jealous.
hawkdriver on March 3, 2009 at 6:04 PM
It’s going to take a while for all moderate democrats to grudgingly admit they were ah, “mistaken” about Obama, but I’m confident it’ll happen. These guys in the financial biz are just admitting it faster.

Gibbs attacks and snarky comments will wear thin in time – just wait. Obama knows that he’s gone all in with his stim/budget and if it doesn’t pan out BIG – he’s in trouble- I mean the ads in 2010/2012 will write themselves. Even Alan Colmes said today that if in a year from now, we don’t see results, that O is in trouble.
O’s problem (potentially) is that he’s tied himself to all of this so tightly that he has very little wiggle room if it tanks (can’t blame Bush forever). He got exactly what he wanted with little input (and support) from Republicans. So, in short he owns it and (I would presume) he knows it. Cramer’s right though, O’s policies will destroy any economic growth that the stim. may have created (little to none to begin with). I do, however, believe that if we go into 2010 with UE above 10% and a DOW below $6k that the Dems will be crucified – and they should be.
volnation on March 3, 2009 at 6:11 PM
Obama said today that “umm…the stock market is kind of like umm…a big tracking poll…”
OH MY GOD!!!

5 seconds in (after the ad starts) cue Albinoni’s Adagio in G Minor. It syncs up with Cramer’s show like Dark Side of the Rainbow. It’s pretty trippy.
chunderroad on March 3, 2009 at 6:12 PM
That and he’s facing stockholder lawsuits for his comments about dividends several weeks ago. I, for one, can’t wait for that to hit.
genso on March 3, 2009 at 6:12 PM
If I’m hearing Gibbs correctly, the plan is to make us all just equally destitute, since there is no way Obama can make every one rich. So the parties with $100/lb. steak and conga lines will continue at the White House, while the rest of us lose our shirts.

He seemed somber in my opinion and he wasn’t yelling and screaming. That speaks volumes louder than if he were yelling and screaming. To me it shows that he is truly frightened and not just being a “chicken little” or just going after ratings.
MobileVideoEngineer on March 3, 2009 at 6:16 PM
Ok cramer has been a big supporter of Obama and the democrat party. when Obama starts to lose people like Cramer within a MONTH of taking office To ME that is overreaching. The impact is hitting wall street hard right now. It has not even began to trickle down to the main street yet. We have another 6 months before the losses on wall street hit main street or in other words right around christmas and the holdiays. which will be worse than this years retail which will cause another bout of massive closings and layoffs. etc.
What we have is a negative feedback deflationary event in process and one of the things adding to that feedback loop is Obama. This is his economy now not Bush’s. Obama could have been different buty his stimulus bill and his budget destroyed any hope for recovery from the big money people. Now they will layoff people, pull their money out and hide it. It is no surprise that the Admin picks this time to start going after tax evaders placing their money overseas. We are seeing a massive outflow of wealth from the USA. $10 Trillion in assets has been lost in the last 2 months. There is not enough money to be pumped into the system to cause iinflation. Gold will be the next bubble that bursts. then T-bills. And cash will become King and the gov is broke.

Cramer is an Obama supporter and has been donating to Democrats since 1986.
How long before the left claims him as a leader of the Republican Party launching petty and partisan criticism?
amerpundit on March 3, 2009 at 6:19 PM
Cramer seems completely demoralized to me. Gibbs response was kinda sick in a chuckie-laughing kinda way. Beck has some emotional issues to work through. He needs to meditate or something. Drive A1A along the ocean with the top down. Something.
.
Obama could give a rat’s ass about anyone but himself, but we knew that already.
BrideOfRove on March 3, 2009 at 6:19 PM
What’s to criticize? This is dead on accurate.
drjohn on March 3, 2009 at 6:19 PM
I long for the days when the White House refrained from commenting and challeging news editorials. Thats where Bush was classy..the guy truly put his nose to the grindstone and knew what he had to do. The fact Obama is nervously making moves, then rushing to the TV to see if he did the right thing, is quite scary indeed.
malkinmania on March 3, 2009 at 6:19 PM
Cramer may be a loose cannon, but he’s right. Obama’s awful. Don’t get hung up on the messenger. It’s that message that is important.
Same with Glenn Beck.

In a world with limted resources the ONLY way for everyone to be equal is for everyone to be poor. It is why there was such massive poverty during the dark ages. and why in high population countries the poverty rate is higher than say countries like Kiwait. there just is not enough resources for everyone to be able to have everything. thus the lords will horde the resources for themselves and let the people eat cake.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t the proposal for tax increases to start in 2011? The economy may start to recover and then President Gubmint will whack it back below 8000 as soon as it starts. I’m sure he’ll claim that his policies are starting to work b4 the tax cuts expire and capital gains tax increases kick in, but what good will that do?

“I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs.
” – Thomas Jefferson
Sound familiar?

The SOCIALISTs in power in WDC ARE DOING THIS ON PURPOSE!
Why else announce huge tax hikes?
Why else announce a five times in the current year deficit?
Why else say crisis or catastrophe 40 times in what is labeled an UP lifting speech.
The great man that saved democracy in the 20th century said it best:
“Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.”
Winston Churchill
IMHO socialists is too light a term for the evil triad of pelosi, reid, and obama.
jukin on March 3, 2009 at 6:22 PM
Jim Cramer just earned himself “Worst Person in the World” dishonors and a spot on the Obama administration’s enemies list.
Boy Wonder Tim Geitner gave testimony this afternoon in which he pledged to crack down on tax cheats and said that the financial rescue plan was going to be more expensive than anticipated. The Dow Jones, which had been building on a solid 80 point gain, immediately reversed course and finished 37 points down for the day.
If these people owned cemeteries no one would die.
