Ultimate nuance: Global warming protesters forced to brave D.C. snow

posted at 7:52 pm on March 2, 2009 by Allahpundit

Alternate headline: “Blogger now believes in God.” You’ve probably seen it linked elsewhere today, but in case not, check out Greg Pollowitz’s “told you so” at NRO’s Planet Gore. So predictable has the coincidence of global-warming events with cold weather become that Pollowitz actually joked back in December when this rally was announced that we should plan for heavy snowfall in the capital circa March 2. And sure enough.

Pelosi was supposed to be there, but, well, you know.

As motley a collection of left-wing extremists as you’ll find this side of an ‘anti-war’ or ‘anti-globalization’ demonstration. And worse, this whole farrago was sponsored by the Obambi administration, with speakers from the White House.

Of course, the real agenda is Cap and Trade, i.e. taxes and power.

They look straight into the camera and on cue say, climate is different from weather…uh yeah tell Noah. How long has the planet been experiencing climate and weather. Does anyone know how many cultures have (A) Great Flood myth as part of there different cultures? But it’s different now it’s man made, talk about Flat Earthers. These people don’t want support for a clean environment, they want to feel special and superior. Well they succeed on the one hand, I do think they must be “special”

Seven top scientist saying CO2 does NOT causing global warming.

If you take CO2 as a percentage of all the gasses in the atmosphere, the oxygen, the nitrogen and argon and so on its .054% [.00054], its an incredibly small portion and then of course you’ve got to take that portion which supposedly humans are adding which is the focus of all the concern and it gets even smaller.

The atmosphere is made up of a multitude of gases, a small percentage of them we call greenhouse gases, and of that very small percentage of greenhouse gases, 95% of it is water vapor, its the most important greenhouse gas.

The ice core record goes to the very heart of the problem we have here, they said, if the CO2 increases in the atmosphere as a greenhouse gas then the temperature will go up, but the ice core records shows exactly the opposite. So the fundamental assumption, the most fundamental assumption of the whole theory of climate change due to humans is shown to be wrong.

Professor Tim Ball, Dept. of Climatology University of Winnipeg

[There have been periods] in earth’s history when we had three times as much CO2 as we do today, times when we had ten times as much CO2 as we have today, if CO2 has a large effect in climate then we should see it in the temperature reconstruction.

Professor Nir Shawiv, Institute of Physics, University of Jerusalem

We can’t say that CO2 will drive climate, it certainty never did in the past.

CO2 clearly cannot be causing temperature changes, its a product of temperature, its following temperature changes.

Professor Ian Clark, Dept. of Earth Sciences, University of Ottawa

None of the major climate changes in the last thousand years can be explained by CO2.

Dr. Piers Corbyn, Climate Forecaster, Weather Action

Water vapor is a greenhouse gas, by far the most important greenhouse gas.

Humans produce a small fraction in the single digits, percentage wise of the CO2 that is produced in the atmosphere.

Professor John Christy, Lead Author, IPCC, Department of Atmospheric Science, University of Alabama in Huntsville

Anyone that goes around and says that carbon dioxide is responsible for most of the warming of the 20th century hasn’t looked at the basic numbers.

Professor Patrick Michaels, Dept of Environmental Sciences, University of Virginia

CO2 began to increase exponentially in about 1940, but the temperature actually began to decrease [in] 1940, continued until about 1975.

Professor Syun-Ichi Akasofu, Director, International Arctic Research Center

Watch the above and other Top Scientists as they explain to you the absurdity of the Al Gore global warming scam.

From Australia: Anatomy of a firestorm

IN THE evolving history of Victoria there will be some days never forgotten because of the magnitude of lost lives and devastation from uncontrollable fire.

Black Thursday was February 6, 1851, when one-quarter of the emerging colony of Victoria burned. February 14, 1926, does not have a special name but 60 lives were lost in widespread fires. Seventy-one lives were lost on Black Friday, January 13, 1939, and vast areas of forest were destroyed in fires that continued for another eight days. On Ash Wednesday, February 16, 1983, fires erupted from the Adelaide Hills to east of Melbourne and 47 Victorians died.

Black Saturday, February 7, 2009, is now added to this dreadful roll call.

These were not the only days of fire devastation, just the worst. The climate of Victoria with its winter rains and summer heat sets the scene for annual danger…

Two characteristics mark the historic fire days. The first is a long period of significantly below-average rainfall; the second is special meteorological conditions on the day, with a combination of high temperatures, low humidity and strong winds.

Bureau of Meteorology published records show that since 1900 the average annual rainfall for Victoria has varied from 356 millimetres (in 1967) to 919 millimetres (in 1973). The same records also show that the rainfall for the year before each major fire day ranked among the lowest: 1925 ranked 16th lowest at 511 millimetres; 1938 ranked fifth at 412 millimetres; 1982 ranked second at 362 millimetres; and 2008 ranked 15th at 504 millimetres…

It is fashionable to promote climate change as being a contributor to changing fire frequency and intensity. The pattern of rainfall over the past century does not point to a trend of reduction in rainfall. Nor has any link been offered between global temperature trends and the meteorology of Victorian heatwaves. Extreme bushfire events are rare events and must be analysed according to the statistics relating to rare events; the breaking of a previous temperature record established 70 years earlier does not establish an underlying trend.

The above was written by: William Kininmonth is a former head of Australia’s national Climate Centre. He has been a consultant to the World Meteorological Organisation on climate issues and is author of Climate Change: A Natural Hazard (Multi-Science Publishing Co., UK 2004).

In case you missed this:

The recent fires in Australia and the loss of life and property were apparently compounded by a draconian policy that prevented people who lived in the fire threat zones from cutting trees and brush near their properties. We witnessed something equally tragic in Lake Tahoe fire in 2007, owing to similar eco driven government stupidity forcing heavy handed policies there. Residents couldn’t get permits to cut down brush and trees, the result was a firestorm of catastrophic proportions.

From last week in D.C., William Happer, a professor of physics at Princeton University, to the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee on February 25, 2009.:

Award-winning Princeton University Physicist Dr. Will Happer declared man-made global warming fears “mistaken” and noted that the Earth was currently in a “CO2 famine now.” Happer, who has published over 200 peer-reviewed scientific papers, made his remarks during today’s Environment and Public Works Full Committee Hearing entitled “Update on the Latest Global Warming Science.”

Look at this:

“Many people don’t realize that over geological time, we’re really in a CO2 famine now. Almost never has CO2 levels been as low as it has been in the Holocene (geologic epoch) – 280 (parts per million – ppm) – that’s unheard of. Most of the time [CO2 levels] have been at least 1000 (ppm) and it’s been quite higher than that,” Happer told the Senate Committee.

“Earth was just fine in those times,” Happer added. “The oceans were fine, plants grew, animals grew fine. So it’s baffling to me that we’re so frightened of getting nowhere close to where we started,” Happer explained. Happer also noted that “the number of [skeptical scientists] with the courage to speak out is growing” and he warned “children should not be force-fed propaganda, masquerading as science.”

Now look here Dr. Evil, it’s widely accepted that both Bigfoot and UFOs leave a hell of a carbon footprint. It’s relevant Dammit.

hawkdriver on March 2, 2009 at 10:15 PM

More of Happer’s testimony:

“I believe that the increase of CO2 is not a cause for alarm and will be good for mankind,” Happer told the Committee. “What about the frightening consequences of increasing levels of CO2 that we keep hearing about? In a word, they are wildly exaggerated, just as the purported benefits of prohibition were wildly exaggerated,” he explained. “At least 90% of greenhouse warming is due to water vapor and clouds. Carbon dioxide is a bit player,” he added. “But the climate is warming and CO2 is increasing. Doesn’t this prove that CO2 is causing global warming through the greenhouse effect? No, the current warming period began about 1800 at the end of the little ice age, long before there was an appreciable increase of CO2. There have been similar and even larger warmings several times in the 10,000 years since the end of the last ice age. These earlier warmings clearly had nothing to do with the combustion of fossil fuels. The current warming also seems to be due mostly to natural causes, not to increasing levels of carbon dioxide. Over the past ten years there has been no global warming, and in fact a slight cooling. This is not at all what was predicted by the IPCC models,” Happer testified.

The Senate can’t plead ignorance about this.

King of the Britons on March 2, 2009 at 11:11 PM

Look,,, it’s been getting so hot that the earth had to cool itself off somehow! This was a natural reaction of the melting ice caps subulating the ozone sphere. When the heat builds up from the increasing CO2,, the atmosphere particulates condensing in warmer temperatures, which triggers a sort of gag reflex in the trioneshpere,, thus, as even a moron would know,, you get a global warming snow storm with increasingly hotter and expansive cool air mass.

What I find most amusing is all of those people saying it has never been this warm before. Anyone who has taken a geology class, or better yet a paleontology class, knows that the Earth has been significantly warmer. At one time the Earth was completely ice free. During the Jurassic and Cretaceous period you could wander around in a pair of shorts in the arctic circle. I guess Bush was somehow at fault for that as well, but you would have to check with Green Peace to get the exact explanation.

Here is more about Harper and how he was fired by Gore because he would not bow down and pledge his allegiance:

http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=13773
Scientist fired by Al Gore was told, “science will not intrude on public policy”.

In 1991, Happer was appointed director of energy research for the US Department of Energy. In 1993, he testified before Congress that the scientific data didn’t support widespread fears about the dangers of the ozone hole and global warming, remarks that caused then-Vice President Al Gore to fire him. “I was told that science was not going to intrude on public policy”, he said. “I did not need the job that badly”.

Wow!!!

Not going to let the science (or facts) get in the way of Gore’s Global Warming scam.

What is getting scary though is that so many scientist are speaking out against this bogus global warming scam. Combining this with none of the predictions made by the eco-fundamentalist coming true does not seem to be slowing down the government in their quest to tax the he!! out of us based on this junk science.

.Gore’s movies struck down as political theater in Europe.

. Ice caps bigger than ever.

.Killer Hurricanes increasing never materializes.

.Hockey Stick theory shown to be a fraud.

.Thousands of scientist speaking out against Global warming
junk science.

.World Temperatures cooling instead of heating up.

On and On and On the wall of lies that the eco-fundamentalist built up is crashing down brick by brick
but our government ignores this and is pushing full steam ahead with cap and trade taxes. These energy policies that ignore the proven resources we have here while they pile money into unproven ones is ignorant to say the least. This is about appeasing their voting block, keeping campaign money coming in,and taxing us to death to pay for their social programs.

No wonder these criminals and their friends in the press keep talking about Rush,it keeps them from having to justify
corrupt policies like the global warming scam.

About those recent bushfires in Australia, they were so lethal because the Green movement had stopped the clearing of vegetation and trees to create fire breaks, so that there was a lot more material for the fire to really get hold in. The only thing the bushfires have proved that Greens kill, be it by preventing sensible forest management in fire prone areas or increasing the cost of heating so old people who can least afford it are found dead from the cold, I hope they are proud of being such fascists, I would not be…, after all they often say that the population needs to reduce!

And in terms of the environment, I personally believe that all this wasted money would be better of actually cleaning heavily polluted sites rather than give profit opportunities to people like Al Gore.

The crazy thing is that they might actually be correct – IF global warming wasn’t a process we don’t totally understand and it could be avoided by other methods than taking our society back to the stone age.

When people think ‘Global Warming’ for some reason they always seem to imagine the end result is that all Earth resembles Tattooine. That’s simply not true! In fact it is very possible that parts of the globe could become cooler if the globe warms up a bit.

But like I said, this just isn’t something we can totally halt. There are steps our nation (and others) should take to make responsible use of the planet’s resources. But expecting to stop a cyclical process that’s gone on for thousands of years is nothing short of absurd.
