Video: 14-year-old conservative prodigy predicts easy win in 2012
posted at 4:30 pm on March 1, 2009 by Allahpundit
I’m, er, highly skeptical, but I like his spirit. A safer bet is that he’ll have his own talk show by then. Fun fact: He’ll be 31 in 2026, just old enough to run for the Senate seat that’ll be up in his home state of Georgia. Hey, politics is like basketball: Gotta scout ‘em while they’re young.
Exit question: “Principle, not policy”?

No. You misunderstand. Leftist ideology and its trained monkeys such as yourself are so fatuous that the Right only need to trot out a 14 year old to refute them with aphoristic precision.

Tiger Krohn.
How is it when an obviously programed kid shovels liberal emotional crap in public, that’s protected absolute moral authority, but when a fourteen year old kid has an understanding of real conservative principles, has an actual confident understanding of politics, that’s brainwash and this kid will be subject to the liberal need to crush this child, his family and his life in its every aspect?

Guess he’s getting a head start on the 47 year-old occupant of the White House who is acting like a President eh?
I remember being quite politically interested back in my pre-teen and teenage years. I had read (and understood) 1984 and Animal Farm before I got to High School. I had a family that was very much politically aware and it rubbed off.
For those of you worried that college will turn him — if he is this well-rooted at 14, there’s a very high likelihood he will emerge from college unscathed. He may have to write fiction on some of his exams in order to pass the most rabid liberal professors’ classes, but he’ll be fine.
I think what is disturbing the trolls so much is that you have a 14 year old spouting conservative core values. They are most likely thinking, “how did this happen, the
indoctrinationeducation system missed one!”AZfederalist on March 1, 2009 at 7:21 PM

Agreed. Results of the last elections as well as the public opinion about the “stimulus” make it all but obvious that the conservatives are in a position to be so confident about their ability to win any debate.

chunderroad on March 1, 2009 at 7:50 PM
There was a poll toward the end of the “stimulus” debate that showed that the more people knew about the details, the less likely they were to support it. We could debate the reasons why this is so, but it seems to me that it shows that the conservative side of the debate is a winner. The issue is actually communicating it.

CCRWM on March 1, 2009 at 8:00 PM
I don’t think you’re totally incorrect about that. However, where’s the outrage? I mean noticeable public outrage outside of conservative blogs. If this is how the conservatives plan to win every time, I’d rather they lost for once.
More to the point, isn’t CPAC this one grand event, which is a reflection of the state of the conservative movement in the country? If so, shouldn’t we see tons of prominent conservatives bottom lining the event on radio and television? Would you seriously say that in a situation where the GOP is to face once again an extremely well funded and powerful Democratic election machine, it is acceptable to take advice from 14 year olds?
More specific question along the same lines. Would you say that the speech of a 14 year old was in the top 5 of significant events happened at CPAC or it was not? Depending on how you answer this question, tell me why we’re listening to him or what it says about the current state of the adult GOP?

Ltlgeneral64 on March 1, 2009 at 8:06 PM
Somebody can only be smart after they reach puberty? Then I’m sure you’re looking forward to it.
Jim Treacher on March 1, 2009 at 8:09 PM
Nah. That’s when the Left trots out William Schneider.
GT on March 1, 2009 at 8:12 PM
Jeez.
No one’s in your bedroom, sweetie*.
Marriage vs. civil unions: “marriage” denotes heterosexual pair bonding as a contract which also involves the natural production of offspring, should the parties choose to do so (illnesses notwithstanding). Want a civil union with another woman (presuming you are a woman)? Knock yourself out.
As to abortion, the highest principle (there’s that word again) of law is to protect a person’s rights so long as their actions do not infringe upon the rights of others. As nature has endowed the act of conception with the ability to become life, on its own (without medical intervention except in extreme cases), conservatives protect the right of the conceived person to be born.
“[S]tay[ing] out of people’s bedrooms” makes for a great emotional statement.
Further proof of Jonathan’s point. Try arguing logically next time, sweetie*. Least of all, any of us.
(*Note: if Obama can call female reporters “sweetie”, then the word must be OK for general use, right?)
Wanderlust on March 1, 2009 at 8:12 PM
I agree with you. Consenting adults behind closed doors and all that.
It does bring up an interesting conundrum, though. What if my preferred activities behind closed doors aren’t “green”? Am I going to have to pay a special tax?
Clearly, the sheer amount of “busybodyness” on the left is far beyond what the right does at this point.

kingsjester on March 1, 2009 at 8:22 PM
I just back tracked to the previous comments…. Hey you libs – you guys fight for sex with people of the same sex, etc. and beyond. I’m happy to report that conservatives have great sex that means something with people of the opposite sex that we happen to love and respect (now there are exceptions agreed…) and we raise great kids like the 14 year old at CPAC that have values. We don’t abort children or such. We home school them or send them to private schools to keep them out of the hands of the government and teacher’s unions, and we instill values. You should try it some time. Be worried you libs – white, black and other colors are not like you. We have values and we love this Country – you want to destroy it. Want to know why Iran hates us? Look at Hollywood movies and music videos. There is your answer. Also, they hate wealth and I happen to love it and hope to achieve it through my hard work instead of government checks.
suzyk on March 1, 2009 at 8:23 PM
Part of the reason there’s no outrage yet is that the bill hasn’t come due yet and Obama’s still singing his song about taxing the rich to pay for it all. Well, as the WS Journal showed, the math on that promise doesn’t work.
Having the kid show up is kind of gimmicky, but, at the same time, the kid obviously put some effort into learning about the issues and took time to write a book about his opinions. That’s more than 99% of adults do and I think showing him a little recognition is fine. No, it’s not “significant” in my mind, but I don’t see how adding another speaker to describe the state of the conservative movement in dire tones would have been significant, either.
venividivici on March 1, 2009 at 8:24 PM
I have to admit its actually been quite amusing watching the rezident [sic] sock puppets and trolls getting all worked up over a 14 year old kid because of the eloquent and passionate way in which he talks about conservatism.
Its just a shame that there aren’t more young people like him (of any political persuasion) who are throwing off the political apathy and conformism of popular culture in order to pursue personal principles and values that actually mean something to them and then applying them in meaningful ways in their own lives.
Dreadnought223 on March 1, 2009 at 8:24 PM
Like I always say – The Far Right and The Far Left have destroyed both parties.
It’s the extremists on both sides who are the problem.
AprilOrit on March 1, 2009 at 8:32 PM
This comnment is a perfect example of a Far Right loon answer. A nasty, sour grape swallowing loon.
I do not live in San Francisco, I am a married jewish woman, not gay but could care less – again small gov’t doesn’t regulate or legislate social issues – and I am a Moderate Republican who voted for McCain.
This is what we have allowed into our Party. With the Dems they have their own problems with the Far Left Moonbats they have allowed in, I only care about the GOP and the nasty-whiny-tinfoil-wearing-na-na-na-na-na-sour-grapes-swallowing rhetoric we get from the Far Right loons we have opened the door to. it has not been positive for the GOP – at all.
I am not sure how my comment became yours – venividivici Weird we must have submitted our comments at the same time and they got mixed??
AprilOrit on March 1, 2009 at 8:35 PM
From my point earlier, I recall during the primaries last year that during BillyJeff’s and Obama’s attempts to buy off the Democrat Party’s “superdelegates”, there was this one guy who had become a “superdelegate” by the time he was age 21 or so. I vaguely recall that this guy had first become active in politics around the age of 14, if not before.
Anyone help me out on this? I remember that this guy was very active at an early age, and that no libs were upset about it.
Should be worth a hypocrisy post by AP, at least.

There are no far right members of the Republican Party. Ron Paul and his nut roots are off the main axis. The socialist democrats want us to believe that Hitler’s National Socialist Workers Party are their polar opposites to make us afraid to be truly conservative.

Seven Percent Solution on March 1, 2009 at 9:06 PM
Wow.
I’m really thankful that there’s a kid out there around my age who thinks in the same way I do, who is able to articulate what he thinks clearly and without fear.
I know that a lot of adults think that kids are too young to really express an opinion on issues that impact our world today because they’re so inexperienced, but some of us are just too aware of what’s going on around us to simply ignore it. I’m in high school now, and at times I get a bit irritated, or even disgusted at how little my friends know about what’s outside of our little town.
Bravo Jonathan, keep on giving us young conservatives out there a voice.
(I’d also like to add that I read Hot Air everyday along with a few other political websites, and later discuss the topics with my mom. This is actually her account, I missed open registration last time because I was at school. (:)

We’ll see about the bill. I have noticed McCain had mentioned some of the most ludicrous pork in the stimulus bill. We’ll see if it’ll get any traction in the media.
As for the kid, I didn’t say I wanted another adult telling us how the conservative movement sucks. On the contrary, I was hoping they could tell us how they were going to aggressively pursue their agenda primarily in the area of economy but perhaps elsewhere as well. Instead the star of the meeting is a 14 year old kid.

See, I’m not seeing anyone putting him on a pedestal as “the star of the meeting”.
I’m not betting it will get traction. Anyone looking to find out how bad the bill was will have to do it on their own. I’m just saying that there are going to be tax hikes in certain people’s not too distant future that were told by Obama that their taxes wouldn’t be hiked. Either that, or he’s going to have to renege on his promise to cut the deficit in half (which itself was already based on bogus economic growth forecasts). My point is that when that happens, if the GOP can put a credible tax cutter and spending cutter up against Obama, they can win. Just because I can see what is coming down the road (income tax hikes for almost everyone who pays income tax) doesn’t mean the median voter can.
