CNN: Limbaugh’s angry, sinister speech “crossed a line”
posted at 12:32 pm on March 1, 2009 by Allahpundit
I haven’t had time to watch the speech but doubtless those who have will have plenty to say in response in the comments. I did see that Rush revisited his point about wanting The One to fail, which gives the media ample excuse to run with it, sans context, for another week. Stephanopoulos used it to make Cantor squirm on “This Week” this morning and Rahm Emanuel took full advantage by painting the GOP as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Rush Inc. All part of the strategy to make the party’s approval rating among independents look like Limbaugh’s does.

Wow. More than thirty years ago, I went with my girlfriend (now my wife) to buy a pair of shoes for her. They were blue. When we got back to the car, I must have said something about not wanting to talk about the shoes anymore, and she burst out into tears. I was stunned, and didn’t know what to do. I didn’t know about happiness and clothing.
Slowly, I learned to read her face. Now I love what makes her happy. It’s such a small thing.

To be just a hair more specific… Our current Secretary of State is no doubt a laughing stock before, during (text messages during), and after meetings with foreign heads of state et al. Why… She publicly (world wide coverage for years it seemed) defended her lecherous husband (at the time, our President) while he (the smartest man ever (Rhode Scholar… Ha!)) left evidence on the dress of a woman half his age (she tricked him no doubt) and then committed perjury so as to drag him, Hillary, and the American people through one of the countries lowest points in my life time. Scum is insulted when we refer to the Clintons as scum (so please don’t). But the Democrats love them…

Just one example of the awesome team that Obama put together for us.

This Bill Schneider was a flat out cheerleader for Obama during the campaign so in a speech that nails democrats to the wall he is bound to be upset and talk about an angry tone. Others would call it passionate but that term isn’t reserved for Conservatives especially Rush. It was completely unnecessary in his anaylsis to frame Rush as the leader of the angry “white man vote” in 1994. He tries to change the subject completely. Does anyone think that he would phrase Obama or the Democrats as the “Angry Minority vote”? Would he phrase THEIR victories in derogatory terms? Did he mentioned the joke about Biden’s racist comments? Did he mention Biden’s stupid “we will keep the bridge open comment”? No, he never addresses Rush’s points where he nails Democrats instead he fills the CNN audience with anti-Rush propaganda. What an a$$!!! Why isn’t ever pointed out that he Borger are Democrats instead of political analysts?
Conan on March 1, 2009 at 2:26 PM
John Podesta. Axelrod is their Goebbels, the minister of propaganda, but Emanuel and Podesta are the brains of the operation. They’ve had this coup planned since the day Bill Clinton left office. Barack Obama was a convenient front man for them. The really scary part is that Barack Obama actually believes he is president.
rockmom on March 1, 2009 at 2:27 PM
People were asking what good the tea parties will do. This is part of the answer.
I think a very public display of displeasure with Obama is not only helpful, but necessary – no more punching a chad in a voting booth and keeping our mouths shut in public. This guy doesn’t like us telling him what we think, which is one very good reason why we should do it, and loudly.

“Angry”? “Sinister”? What is that pundit smoking? I wonder if he even watched it, only relying on a second-hand critique.
onlineanalyst on March 1, 2009 at 2:34 PM
By the way, Rush didn’t seem angry to me at all – unless he was talking about things like the way the Left tears people at the top down, instead of building people on the bottom up.
And he’s 100% correct about that. It also needs to be said.
What anger he expressed was righteous, I thought. And mostly, his speech was very uplifting. I don’t think we should allow the Left to frame what he said, so if you haven’t watched it, please do so you can discuss it from a position of knowledge.
capitalist piglet on March 1, 2009 at 2:34 PM
All Shcnieder did was show why CNN is irrelevant and Limbaugh is. That was no angry speech. Yeah there was criticism, but it was done with humor and grace.
And what’s really great, is that it helps to shine a spotlight on Obama’s policies.
Iblis on March 1, 2009 at 2:36 PM
You know, I go to Real Clear Politics, I read stuff from the NYT, the LAT, Politico, I watch Cspan, I get a lot of info here at HA, and I still find that the most articulate, valuable information I get is from Rush Limbaugh. I resent libs who try to paint FOX news and Limbaugh as liars- you can go to the source, you can read transcripts of speeches, you do have to appreciate the politics of whoever is imparting the information, but in this day and age there is no excuse for ACCEPTING anything other than actual fact. Everything else is opinion and we’re all entitled to one, but I’m finding more and more that I have no interest in hearing “pundits” give me their opinion. I want the facts, and I get them from Rush Limbaugh.

Amen Brother! From page 1 of the comments. And it won’t be just the democrats! Stay strong!
Mr_Magoo on March 1, 2009 at 2:37 PM
What a shame that Rush’s speech went right over the head of Bill Schneider’s head. His only analysis of the speech was based on feelings rather than looking at the substance of what was said. I too HOPE that Obama fails with his plans on turning this country into one giant welfare state. Rush was spot on in what he said and it came at the right moment for the Conservative movement. We all need to look to the best among us on a local level to champion the spirit of the constitution. Well done rush and well done to CNN for once again illustrating why they are so out of touch with America.
fazoolius on March 1, 2009 at 2:37 PM

Atlanta Voter on March 1, 2009 at 2:40 PM
Oh, BTW, you can totally see CNN’s slant if you watch the little comment box in the bottom left. Rush said, “We hate to see capitalism insulted, I mean, assulted.” The CNN thing stuck with insulted, even though Rush corrected himself. They were not paying attention and they tried hard to pick things out that sounded bad.

Schneider has been a cheerleader for Democrats and liberals for twenty years. In the 90s he cranked out a decent article about ‘The Class of ’74′–which lionized the many far-left Demos who took over Congressional seats which had been Republican for a generation. It was like 1964, only worse in some ways.
Nixon and Watergate took a lot of good men down, and some of those seats ( in blue states ) are still held by
The best known of this group is George Miller of Kallyfornia, but the House leadership is rotten with them. Schneider is worthless in analyzing Demos because of his man-crush on them all, and worthless in analyzing Republicans because they’re Those Who Must Be Defeated.

doriangrey on March 1, 2009 at 2:48 PM
Exactly my point in another way piglet. Schneider had to go back and frame the argument as the voice of “angry white men” from 1994. That pkrase is a democrat talking point NOT a point made by a neutral analyst. It is used to demonize the speaker from the right. He had no business other than to try and ruin Rush as you say with the CNN audience. It is intresting that they never analyze Rush as anything but as an extremist with extreme ideas. They really can’t afford to let him be heard because then they would make up their own minds.

Emanuel still thinks Limbaugh is responsible for the Republican takeover of the House in 1994 and the takedown of Hillarycare and Clinton’s gun control bill – his two favorite policy obsessions. He has had an unnatural obsession with taking down Limbaugh ever since.
Don’t forget that the Clinton years started out almost as radical as this Administration has. That’s no accident. Bill Clinton was not a left-wing ideologue, but his wife was and Rahm Emanuel certainly is. They overreached in their first two years and got their asses handed to them in 1994. Rahm is running the same playbook this time, only he thinks that if he can silence Limbaugh he will get away with it this time around.
Limbaugh’s most important comment yesterday was when he said “this Administration’s agenda is not new, it is not Change, and it is not Hope.” This was direct shot across Rahm’s bow. Limbaugh knows what is really going on here. Obama’s agenda is nothing but the recycled leftist garbage that Emanuel tried to peddle under Bill Clinton.

Nancy Pelosi is the real leader of the Democratic Party, She writes the bills and Obama is stuck with them. It is a tradgedy that the real source of decisions about the future of America are in the hands of this woman who seems to be utterly clueless about business, economics, markets and what really creates wealth in a country.
The election of 2010 is not against Obama, it is against the radical left Congress. We need to make Pelosi and Reid the face of the opponents; not Obama. 2012 can wait.

Yeah well, attempting to appeal to Independents really worked for us in the last election. That said, personally I think that even Independents want people to stand for something. And the Rinos and many of the Gop have not been able to do that for years. Maybe it was the fact that Obama at least appeared to stand for something that drew Independents to him?

FAR from a Rush ‘Fanboi’ am I, but other than a few personality related things that detracted from his message, His speech is the best socio-political speech I have heard since MLK’s “I Have a Dream” speech.
Anyone who says it was angry, sinister or anything less than the pure truth about real conservativism either didn’t listen to more than a few soundbites taken out of context, or is just a flat out liar. (or both)
