Video: Limbaugh brings down the house at CPAC; Update: Full video added
posted at 8:42 pm on February 28, 2009 by Allahpundit
I’ve been waiting an hour and a half for the complete video to appear somewhere, but Townhall’s feed isn’t working and there are only bits and pieces of the speech up at YouTube. The full transcript’s posted at Rush’s site; I’ll give you the first hour or so of video that’s available now and then update accordingly. Check back periodically.
Haven’t watched yet myself, but his point about certain other people wanting certain other presidents to fail is well taken. Meanwhile, here’s the result of the CPAC straw poll: Romney 20, Jindal 14, Paul 13, Palin 13. I’m shocked that Jindal beat Palin, especially after the atomic bomb he dropped on Tuesday night. And what happened to Huck? Sixth place with just seven percent of the vote after that stemwinder he delivered on Thursday? If anyone’s chances for the nomination smell dead after this, it’s his.
Update: Part seven added.
Update: Part eight added.
Update: Part nine added.
Update: The tenth and final part is hereby added.

I don’t want my country to fail either.
I do want Obama to fail, because wants to revise the Constitution to make it about what citizens must do for the government rather than what government is limited to doing to the citizens.
Obama’s definition of success is the destruction of the system of limited government that Madison et al struggled so mightily to achieve.

Lets not forget, it was Obama who mentioned Limbaugh by name at the start of his presidency.
What other president has done that?
RobertInLexington on February 28, 2009 at 9:55 PM
So, other than great sounding words, what was Rush’s plan for stopping Obama’s mad rush to create a new “America”?
What is he and Coulter willing to do personally? What specific risks are they willing to take to get the people of America informed, and interested in conservatism? What are they going to do to get Americans interested and motivated enough to vote for conservative candidates next election?
I’m tired of motivational speeches to the choir! It isn’t us who need convincing! We have to convince Americans who are not Conservative, to realize the value and worth of Conservative principles. Moreover, we need someone to come up with a workable plan to stop this administration from selling us all down the river.

Rush and Hannity he likes to bait
But if he had any wisdom to go down that road he would hesitate
As Obama’s snake oil starts to be seen through
He will add to his bag of tricks some more venom too
If scarin’ folks dont do the trick
His health care system will make you all sick
With Harry and Nancy he likes to whore
Wont be forever till more and more know the score
Neville Chamberlain he would never emulate
As he thinks that he thought too small and gave too little too late
When it comes to preaching hate
The Obama team just can’t wait

Mr. Beck is a fine man, are you suggesting that Rush isn’t? I think you will find that Mr. Beck has been none to gracious about Sen. McCain also. This is just a matter of different styles appealing to different people. I prefer optimism and motivation to go out do what I can to make things better. That’s not where you are and that’s okay. Just don’t try to bring me down, because you won’t succeed.

I love Rush and certainly appreciate what he does. But when our champions who purport to love our founding documents screw up like Rush did – it just makes me wonder how much some conservatives and many on this site truly do love our founding documents.
The Preamble of the Constitution does not contain the inarguable truths that we are endowed by our creator with certain unalienable rights – it is the Declaration of Independence. I have heard lots and lots of beating up of Joe Biden (who I admit is despicable) for screwing up his Constitutional knowledge.
Come on Rush!

I voted for Palin. Be honest and tell me why did McCain throw the race? You cannot tell me he did his best to win. Time and time again he had no fight in him. Then he doesn’t tell Sarah of his real plan. He knew from the start he wouldn’t win. Why did the Republican’s pick McCain? McCain wanted to give Amnesty to illegals. I didn’t want BO to win so of course I voted for Palin/McCain. There is no way McCain is a Conservative. Other wise he wouldn’t have voted for the first Bail out package. I truly admire McCain, but he proved to be a chicken in this race.

Rush ROCKED THE HOUSE!
What an inspiring speech. Made my freaking day.
American Glob on February 28, 2009 at 10:00 PM
I don’t get it.
In his CPAC speech he has basically said it is not a problem that we bailed out these banks and they squandered the money or like Northern Trust spent it on party central.
He believes people should basically look the other way. He asked of the CPAC audience – something like, “Will it make it better for you if someone like John Thain is thrown out for what he did?”
The country doesn’t feel this way, most were angry about how the banks spent the taxpayers money – including Michelle Malkin the owner of this blog.
When Rush speaks like this it doesn’t really help, he sounds like a typical wealthy person out of touch with reality – no different than Hollywood or Paris Hilton.
AprilOrit on February 28, 2009 at 10:01 PM
I imagine MSM is torn over this. On the one hand, they’d like to sweep him under the rug to minimize his public exposure. On the other hand, they want to bash him to shut him down. But the more they bash him, the more face time he gets from MSM, and the larger grows his audience.
Fortunately for us, Rush can play the MSM like a fine violin. He knows just how to tweak them to generate the desired response.
I have the feeling Rush is going to take a more visibly active role in our political life during these next several years. At least I hope so. We need his leadership.
Next to Ronaldus Maximus, Rush rules!

Any doubt about whether or not it was right to wish for Obama’s failure was removed by his insane budget plan.
Unless you can imagine Obama being judged a “success” after his domestic agenda was exposed as destructive where not deranged, and defeated – or reversed where already enacted – then wishing for his failure is the only conceivable position for a conservative. A government shutdown for four years would be better than “success” on the terms Obama himself has proposed for himself.

Prioritize practical education over bibles and guns. Get skills. Get a passport. Go see what life is like in places where your local news isnt on the tv. And stop thinking that the “evil-doers” are interested in blowing up your local Walmart.
That would be an excellent start.

Rush said that Northern Trust was one of the banks that didn’t want TARP, but was forced to take it. Since it was forced on them, perhaps there should be a little less condemnation.
Not to mention that Northern Trust spent the money in the normal course of doing business, not on something extra. They would have held that golf weekend regardless of TARP.
Also, Rush says that none of the companies should have taken the money, nor should it have been offered in the first place.

All the parties that the libs throw are on the tax payers dime as well. He was just illustrating the double standard.

A message dear to my cold little conservative heart. If we could learn just this — to stop letting them name the game, make the rules and later change them, frame the debate and define its premises and terms — if we could learn only this, we could regain the offensive and start winning again at the polls.

“In his CPAC speech he has basically said it is not a problem that we bailed out these banks and they squandered the money or like Northern Trust spent it on party central.”
You must not have heard the whole segment. Northern Trust was forced to take the bailout money! They sponsered this golf event last year and it was already booked this year. John Thain remodeled his office before any bailout money was received.
It’s a slippery slope when the government starts telling businesses how to do their business and what executives can earn. I suspect that’s why Ford turned down the money. Anyway, once they start this, they’ll be setting everyones wages down the road. It will destroy productivity, incentive and the economy right along with it!

Silly comparison. There’s stupid rich and stupid poor. No one is right 100% of the time. There’s stupidity and greed on both sides of the fence.

Funny, that is exactly the advice I’d give to liberals. Don’t let Olbermann and Matthews do all your thinking for you. Get your fat ass off of the couch and do something besides asking for a handout from your government where you continue to fail. The people that made this country were a hearty bunch that relied on both their guns and Bibles. I’m not ashamed to say I have many of both.
As far as education, my kid was part home schooled and part educated in a Christian private school and I’ll put her grades up against any of your children.

It gives one a deeper look into things like what Rush had to face. I have to admit I did lose some respect for him when I heard about his addiction. Now, after what I have been through I can better understand how easily it actually can happen. A person has to be very vigilant and even then depending on the situation there simply may be no controlling it. The thing that scares me most is universal health care. If we were under that system I would not have been able to just find another doctor. I would have been stuck with it. Not only that, just one treatment costs the hospital pharmacy about $2800. That’s not including what they charge for the infusion. Right now I have one of those a month which may be increased to twice a month. So, if the socialists (I won’t even call them democrats or liberals anymore) get their way with the healthcare system they will likely say my condition is too expensive to treat and let me live a miserable life until I finally die.

petefrt on February 28, 2009 at 10:19 PM
Thank you for asking, Robertinlexington!
First off, stop letting the left dictate the rules of discourse. If Coulter is going to go on the View, then go on ready to take them on with serious arguments – and do your homework! Coulter thinks she is the cleverist, and funniest thing to ever come down the pike. I like Ann a lot, but she is no Conservative Lenny Bruce, or Mort Saul! Same thing with Rush, although he isn’t as bad as she is with the schick. When you go on national television against the likes of David Letterman, then be prepared! Rush was unprepared for Letterman’s attacks and it showed. He should have known what he was going to do and been ready for it. If they can’t, then don’t go on these shows.
Second, put your money where your mouth is. There are a number of wealthy conservatives (Rush and Ann are two of many) who could be doing, or leading the way to do what Soros is doing for the Democrats.
Third, lead! Call for rally’s and press conferences pointing out the vacuous notions the left has for policy. Expose the leftist bias of the media! If Bill Clinton can point his finger in the face of Chris Wallace and decry the unfair treatment of Fox News of liberals, why can’t Coulter do the same with Matt Lauer?
What am I willing to do? I will attend the rallies, subsidize their organizations, volunteer my services, and stand up for conservative ideals in my sphere of influence.
Speeches to the troops are fine, but unless you have a plan of attack to crush the enemy, you are sending your troops to their death!

Ditto. Been saying this since before the election – the true conservatives need to now make the sacrifice. Our FF’s gambled everything – and some lost all – for the foundation of Liberty.
Time for the rich blowhards to get organized, thrown in their money, and take back over.
The little guys, like me can do the work as well. I recently got certified as a teacher and take every opportunity in class to point out liberal bias in texts when I see it. While I teach others to THINK and not what to think, I make sure both sides of the argument are heard.
Let’s all get off our asses and do something.

I agree! Loved it! Rush speaks the truth, but sadly, many people can’t handle the truth. Unless it’s couched in euphemisms, some don’t want to hear it, especially Libs. They don’t want be confused by facts.

Like I said, I moved here from So. California, with a 3 year stop over in Austin, TX. I love Lexington. It is very modern and very historic. It is not something that many cities do well, but Lexington has it down to a science.
It truly saddens me to see what is becoming of California. California is such a beautiful state, but it is going to hell in a hand basket.

A conservative candidate, who espouses conservative principles is what it takes to win. RINO’s,( McCain, Lott ) with democrat lite, will not win.

But damn, you guys on the left have to help me get this straight though. Do you think we’re elite rich old white guys who don’t care about the poor? Or are we poor stupid unwashed masses who need to be enlightened by you guys?
