Video: Coulter at CPAC

I tuned in halfway through, caught a bunch of well-delivered one-liners, and stuck around to the end of the Q&A to hear her tell Obama he’s kidding himself if he thinks we can win in Afghanistan. Evidently we’re the anti-war party now. Or the party that opposes The One just for the sake of opposing him.

You have an Adam’s Apple but aren’t a man, either, so why does she have to be?
Kensington on February 28, 2009 at 7:20 PM
Yet when Bush was president and the “left” said the same you saw that as unpatriotic. Got hypocrisy my morally challenged shrink?
Bradky on February 28, 2009 at 7:20 PM
lol !!!
jerrytbg on February 28, 2009 at 7:21 PM
I agree with Coulter on Afghanastan.
AnninCA on February 28, 2009 at 7:21 PM
A commenter here, I wish I could remember who, called him Pres’ent Obama. I thought that was quite clever to use an apostrophe to replace the “i” and “d”.
INC on February 28, 2009 at 7:21 PM
Yeah, she use to do your mother in neighboring back alleyways for $5 bucks a pop to pay for your cleft palate operation. How’d you make out?
RepubChica on February 28, 2009 at 7:21 PM
We agree, why come here to whine about Allah and/or Ed. Really bad manners to ask for their dismissal.
Cindy Munford on February 28, 2009 at 7:22 PM
Bradky, my long-time e-friend, it’s sad to watch you dance to the same tune with getalife & co (clones of the same union), happily and automaton-like. I always thought of you as the special and reasoning one, no matter whom you’d vote for.
Entelechy on February 28, 2009 at 7:22 PM
I love Ann! Don’t worry about how she may be used by the Left to hurt Conservatism-they would use anything, any possible controversy or controversial figure to help their cause-notice how they abused Joe the Plumber. I don’t worry about what Liberals think of Conservatism. Never take advice from your opponent.
And if you don’t agree 100% with Ann…so what? I don’t either-but I love where she stands on Conservative ideals.
I also love her writing-she writes well, which puts her in the company of Mark Steyn, Victor Davis Hanson and Thomas Sowell.
Doug on February 28, 2009 at 7:24 PM
Ann Coulter shouldn’t be ashamed of being a transexual. This shows the diversity of the Republican Party.
Atlanta Voter on February 28, 2009 at 7:24 PM
I didn’t know that – Good for her. Thanks for the news.
sherry on February 28, 2009 at 7:25 PM
There is no joy in watching the extremists destroy a proud, effective and inclusive party.
Bradky on February 28, 2009 at 7:26 PM
you’re a democrat, and used to bendign over, so I see why you want her to be a he..
right4life on February 28, 2009 at 7:26 PM
I’m trying to have a respectful dialogue about the fact of Ann Coulter’s transexualism. I won’t jump into the mud pit with you.
Atlanta Voter on February 28, 2009 at 7:26 PM
how dumb are you? you had your ‘diverse inclusive’ candidate in mccain…he lost, big time…withotu palin he would have lost even more…
your ‘inclusive’ people like AHNULD are TOTAL FAILURES…

Last thought, because I actually have a life, “Bradky”. It didn’t bother me in the least when Bush was criticized. To be critical of your president, is your right. As a like minded conservative, I didn’t find all that much to be critical of Bush with- and just to get your panties in an even bigger wad, I REALLY loved Cheney! Obama and Biden are like, well, they’re incredibly incompetant and simply not up to the jobs they were elected to.
anniekc on February 28, 2009 at 7:29 PM
Well, you’re in the mud and you just got a facial. Good day.
RepubChica on February 28, 2009 at 7:29 PM
As Ann so aptly stated…
No major power has EVER conquered Afghanistan ….
It is a tribal state and at best we will keep them at bay and deny the muslims a base to attack us from…period.
jerrytbg on February 28, 2009 at 7:29 PM
it depends what you think they’re job is…if you think its to keep the USA free, independent, and prosperous, wrong…its to socialize the country, and turn us into a fascist state
and they’re real good at that…
right4life on February 28, 2009 at 7:31 PM
As Republicans, we should welcome transexuals like Ann Coulter.
Atlanta Voter on February 28, 2009 at 7:31 PM
The two parties are both not “proud” any longer. There is no Republican, nor Democrat party to be proud of. They both sold us in favor of power, stuffing their pockets and destroying everything which once was good in this special land. The children will suffer direly and the plankton haven’t realized it, yet. When they wake up, it will be way too late. I can tell you novels about what that form of life is like. I lived it.
Atlanta Voter, who cares what she is? You, on the other hand, are a very poor soul, with the brain of a gnat.
Entelechy on February 28, 2009 at 7:32 PM
It doesn’t really matter which candidate runs if you have ostracized the moderates and independents who can be persuaded to vote for the GOP.
McCain wasn’t appointed – he won the nomination legitimately. Get better opposition the next election is my advice if you are so against him.
Bradky on February 28, 2009 at 7:33 PM

Not that I concede your idiotic ‘points’ about Buckley or “Birchers”, but what kind of loon are you?

If you believed it to be true and if you approved, you would have respected her privacy. You are just silly and not very creative.
Cindy Munford on February 28, 2009 at 7:37 PM
You truly are a fool if you think that. How many people here parrot that line? Answer: Zero. Do people quote comments from Rush? Absolutely. Why? Because those quotes are often succinct observations of the true lunacy of the left. These are the same people who may quote Jefferson (the federalist, not the guy on your side who was caught with ill-gotten cash in his freezer), Locke, or Reagan to make a point regarding peoples’ need for freedom and freedom from government’s reach into every aspect of their lives.
People don’t listen to Rush or Coulter because they need a leader to tell them how to think, they listen to Rush or Coulter because those commentators articulate what people listening to them do think and that they don’t hear from the punditry in the leftwing media. … and that is why Obama, Pelosi, and Ried are going to try to shut down conservative commentators. Tyrants cannot stand to have opposition views that serve as rallying points for the
peasantscitizenry.AZfederalist on February 28, 2009 at 7:37 PM
you do realize that mccain was the moderate of your heart’s desire, right? he was the moderate SAVIOR…he would bring LEGIONS of moderates into the party to vote for him….what happened???
why didn’t all those ‘moderates’ vote for the moderate hero and savior mccain??? hmmmmm???

I am also in the middle of a long and drawn out approval process so I can relate to the anxiety she must have gone through. Well worth the wait! Again, good for her.
sherry on February 28, 2009 at 7:38 PM
Entelechy,
For the conservatives to win over means they need effective strategies. That has been my primary point for the couple of years I have posted here.
There is a choice – get busy attracting a block of voters drawn to the GOP who agree enough on a short list of convictions that are “in stone” such as less tax, regulations and adequate defense. Let the “moral” issues such as abortion and the like be pushed to the individual voter at the state level. Either you trust that most people are moral and will make a wiser decision in the voting booth or you trust that power in the hands of a few politicians.
regards as always,
Bradky on February 28, 2009 at 7:39 PM
I’ll say prayers for a speedier approval. Being a mom is the best. Even though mine are all grown.
Cindy Munford on February 28, 2009 at 7:41 PM
At least she stuck up for Ed and Allah. I don’t know who the other folks she is talking about.
Cindy Munford on February 28, 2009 at 7:42 PM
Has it ever occurred to you that the moderates and center left democrats might have noticed the derision many of the well known conservatives heaped upon him. Heck they may even have thought “If his own party doesn’t like him why should I?” McShame, McAmnesty, Juan Mccain, etc. You remember all those endearments his own party used don’t you?
If you expect the party to support your candidate shoule he or she win you must be adult enough to support the one who wins the nomination even if they are not your primary choice.
Bradky on February 28, 2009 at 7:43 PM
Thank you. You are a very sweet person. Looking forward to hearing the word “mommy”
sherry on February 28, 2009 at 7:46 PM
Yet more proof chickenhawk AP Needs to be fired for not knowing what he’s talking about.
I’m in the military and will say that we cannot succeed in Afghanistan in the manner it is being handled now. There’s no strategy, no end game, no purpose or flag to be captured. No one I know in the military has any idea of what our goal is, and that’s asking for vietnam 2.
TTheoLogan on February 28, 2009 at 7:47 PM
all those ‘terms of endearment’ are true..but thats besides the point…mccain did NOT get the moderate voters..oh too bad about mccain not being liked by conservatives…like this is a newsflash??? come on, everyone has known this for DECADES…so?
the truth is when confronted by a democrat, and me-too republican like mccain, might as well vote for the man who is the real thing…
in other words, moderation is a loser politically. good riddance to the moderates…like arlen ‘grab the ankles’ spector…
right4life on February 28, 2009 at 7:49 PM
I no longer do. The mooches are now so many in numbers, including from the right, that I no longer will work hard to sustain so many. My aim is to take it much easier. I lost my admiration and faith in her people, and she no longer deserves so much sacrifice. I worked very hard throughout but I never believed to be punished for it, until now. I distinctly feel that being laborious, creative and honest will be punished, harshly, for the benefit of the opposite, just to garner votes for the serfmasters of today.
That the populace self-inflicted this upon their children and grandchildren, while singing
kumbayaobamaya, is more hurtful than anything. I will retreat in good time to reading and lots of apathy. Actions all have consequences. The mooches don’t think that far. Their masters do, but they don’t care. They are out to exploit the fools. The masses deserve it, from the entire political spectrum, which made this possible.Good luck to you and yours,
Entelechy on February 28, 2009 at 7:51 PM
I don’t think AP was expressing an opinion. Just a questions to get the conversation going. I believe that’s his job.

I think we are at a standstill. The venom is what is so different and I suspect you know that. Literally eating our own.
Bradky on February 28, 2009 at 7:52 PM
Oh Oh, we hurt the moderate’s feelings and that’s why they didn’t vote for McCain. Or do you mean they are not able to make up their own mind and took the hint from the rest of the party? The later makes sence, after all that is why they are moderates in the first place.
neuquenguy on February 28, 2009 at 7:54 PM

If you don’t mind my asking, who did you support in the primaries? I never got excited about any of the candidates.
Cindy Munford on February 28, 2009 at 7:56 PM
And to yours Entelechy. I wish I could post optimism that would cheer you up but don’t have that kind of writing talent.
Speaking of reading and changing the subject:
I’m reading Whitaker Chambers “Witness” – oldie but pretty good -my first time reading it. It is about the communist movement in the first half of the century in the US. Another one is Prince of Darkness by Robert Novak. Finished that one but it is a fascinating read about the behind the scenes journalistic view from Kennedy to Clinton.
Have a good weekend and I’ll see you around,
Bradky on February 28, 2009 at 7:56 PM
Anybody here think Bradky voted for McCain? Or would have voted for McCain if only the eeevil right-wingers hadn’t made fun of him? Oh, I know, the reason McCain lost moderates was because he chose Palin as his running mate. Remember, he had a double digit lead over Obama before he chose her? You don’t remember that? Hmm, come to think of it, neither do I.
Fact of the matter is that lots of Dems said they *liked* McCain and wanted to see him as a candidate. Didn’t mean they were going to vote for him, it just meant they either thought he would be easy to beat, or if he did win, he would be close enough to a Democrat that they wouldn’t go bat***t over his policies.
Which brings us to the bottom line, the Republicans need to stop listening the NYT, LAT, CNN pundits when choosing a candidate, or if listening, do the opposite of what those pundits advocate. Does the Republican party really think those entities are advocating ideas that will really help the Republican party?
AZfederalist on February 28, 2009 at 7:57 PM
Don’t forget Helen Thomas. A real looker that one. I think she was the monster in an early Peter Jackson flick.
Yes it has. Maybe we don’t want traitorous “moderates” like Specter or Snowe who betray the core principles of conservatism and GOP. Have you ever considered conservatives don’t want any more Ah-nulds giving us a bad name? I think that is the salient point here. Either Rush and Ann are the core of the party or the “moderate” who trash them are. I for one would lump them in with the enemy. And they certainly aren’t the voice of the party. Look at Palin. They derided someone the average GOP adored. Moderate is a code word for democrat-lite. I wouldn’t want you in my party any more than I want testicle cancer. If anyone gives the cause a bad name its them, because they aren’t part of the cause.
chicagojedi on February 28, 2009 at 7:57 PM
AP: Ann wasn’t saying that we can’t win in Afghanistan, she’s saying that keeping Iraq as the target of the jihadists is preferable because the terrain is much more suitable for beating them. By pulling out of Iraq and surging in Afghanistan, you make the focus of the war take place in the terrain that most favours the jihadists.

BrideOfRove on February 28, 2009 at 8:01 PM
I think one thing that is being overlooked is the fact that democrats run candidates as conservatives, then get them to vote liberal. Mark Pryor and Ben Nelson are good examples of that. There’s absolutely no reason we cannot do the same.

Yes, rhetorical based on Anne’s speech. My point is that none of us know Allah and other than he is conservative and lives in New York, he keeps pretty close to the vest. I am just suggesting that you might be reading more into the post then necessary. HotAir is what it is because of those two gentlemen, did you sign up hoping to post or hoping to change the site?

She states that she is a New York City Republican. The part where she stood up for Ed and Allah is probably the only time I have agreed with her. I think it is safe to say she’s not from the conservative branch of the party and she has a visceral dislike of Anne Coulter.

I would have preferred either of those gentlemen also. I found Sen. McCain’s convention speech very inspiring so I felt a bit better about his nomination. But he stopped being a candidate and resumed his Men’s Club (Senate) member persona and it was hard to get over. He got my vote but not my enthusiasm.
Cindy Munford on February 28, 2009 at 8:12 PM
Considering the “dissent is the highest form of patriotism” Left is now saying it’s unpatriotic to dissent, hypocrisy is not in short supply.
You can’t believe anyone thinks you’re funny.
That’s stupid. If we “trusted” that, we wouldn’t bother with ads, trying to convince voters to vote for one side or the other. Considering in this election, people voted believing the Republicans were in power in Congress, it’s even further stupidity to trust that they will ever make the wiser decision.
Esthier on February 28, 2009 at 8:12 PM
How Appropriate For The Likes Of Bradky..Et Al.. To Counsel On “Short Lists Of Conviction”.
GD on February 28, 2009 at 8:13 PM
Simple: no variation of conservative ideals will see the light of day if we chase the ideological purity path. Reagan compromised on some things but in general guided the country to a more conservative place. He did it by respecting everyone in the party and encouraging party unity.
Bradky on February 28, 2009 at 8:13 PM
thats a great book, about a little known time of history…its very instructive about how much influence the communists had upon our government in the 30s and 40s…
Alger Hiss was a cause celebe for the left for decades..he was guilty as sin.
you may want to check out James Burnham’s ’suicide of the west’ its what you see going on today…he was a brilliant man, a friend of Buckley’s…and worked at NR along with Chambers in the old days when conservatives had guts..

Bradky on February 28, 2009 at 8:16 PM
This was always my thinking. Iraq was strategy, pure and simple. What is the strategic advantage to winning in Afghanistan? I’m not saying we shouldn’t finish what we started, just asking; — we succeed, how do we imagine a new Afghanistan government will look like?
Also, I don’t always agree with Ann, but I love her. She’s gives as good as we get. I admire her because she doesn’t back down! I’m sick of seeing conservatives bend over. I want a figher in my corner and, if nothing else, Ann is a fighter.

right4life on February 28, 2009 at 8:22 PM

getalife on February 28, 2009 at 8:26 PM
Never said it did. I just won’t be lectured on hypocrisy when it’s proudly on display on the Left.
Still, I never had a problem with “dissent” in it’s most basic form. It was the “I don’t support the troops” or active attempts at hindering the troops, cheering on their deaths or actively hoping for the worst for Bush even when they believe it will hurt this country, that I abhor.
Dissent should never include that, not from Americans. There is though, such a thing as thoughtful and helpful dissent, and that is necessary for any form of Democracy for its survival.
