Video: Coulter at CPAC

posted at 2:02 pm on February 28, 2009 by Allahpundit

I tuned in halfway through, caught a bunch of well-delivered one-liners, and stuck around to the end of the Q&A to hear her tell Obama he’s kidding himself if he thinks we can win in Afghanistan. Evidently we’re the anti-war party now. Or the party that opposes The One just for the sake of opposing him.

We are not the anti war party, what is our objective-mission in Afghanistan? Who are we after (Terrorist) and what is the goal? If we are in Afghanistan to pour our much needed dollars into them via Nation Building forget it(not by ourselves where is the International Community?) IF we are there to hunt down and destroy our enemies, then I am all for it. Now Identify our enemy. (Al Qeada) the Taliban, can be re absorbed into their tribes mainly Pashtun. The Terrorist are our enemy, marginalizing and destroying them should be our Goal.

Pakistan says wins key region on Afghan border. The Pakistanis have taken over one of the Key Agencies, and say they will have control of all 5 Agencies by the end of the year, and returned to Government control. Wouldn’t this be good news?

“Khan said he had no information about Zawahri’s whereabouts but his forces had killed and arrested several Arab fighters.

Officials say more than 1,500 militants were killed, along with about 100 soldiers, during the “Operation Sher Dil” launched in Bajaur in September. There has been no independent verification of that militant casualty estimate.

Hard-pressed militants led by an al Qaeda ally, Faqir Mohammad, this week declared a unilateral ceasefire in Bajaur. Khan said he rejected an offer of talks and went ahead with military operations.”

Problem is that conservatives will NEVER become that organized to create their own Moveon.org so I give up worrying about it.

it is pointless

Uh, why would conservatives want their own equivalent to MoveOn.org, anyways?

I was called a Socialist.

terryannonline on February 28, 2009 at 4:08 PM

I’ve read your blog and certainly don’t think you’re a Socialist. But with the entire left ready to bash anyone on our side, I do wonder why do you feel the need to do it so fervently also? As far as RUsh, I don’t see your condemnations of his comments making very much sense. Honestly, as well written as your other stuff is, I get the impression by your comments that you don’t actually listen to much of Limbaugh.

If I wanted more Conservative bashing, I’d run over to HuffPo.

“Major-General Tariq Khan, who is commanding military operations in five of the seven agencies, said his paramilitary Frontier Corps (FC) had driven militants out of Bajaur, the smallest of the agencies but a major infiltration route into Afghanistan, after a six-month offensive.

“They have lost. They have lost their cohesion here,” Khan told reporters on a trip arranged by the military to Bajaur and Mohmand agencies. “The resistance has collapsed.”

He said his forces had also largely restored “a reasonable state of stability,” in the four other agencies under his command.

“If you are asking me about five agencies … I think somewhere by the end of the year or so we would, more or less, be over with the military operations,” he said.

Khan said his forces planned to hand over control of Bajaur, the most northerly of the tribal areas and opposite the Afghan province of Kunar, to government authorities next week.”

Ann is a smartass, Bugs Bunny was too, its that smartass attitude that along with terms like FUBAR, won WWII and is fully part and parcel of every great success this nation has or will ever enjoy.

Its the wanton killing of the uniquely American spirit that is the legacy of liberalism.

Afghanistan is not Iraq, against a brutal organized dictator the conqueror card plays well, in the Afgani part of the world the tack employed so far of ally, aid abet, guide and enforce is exactly right, play the conqueror there and Ann will win that part of the argument.

Ok, get back to me in a few months after the Dems have passed universal health care because the GOP was trying to getting some inertia but then the Dems bashed with some stupid Ann Coulter comment.

terryannonline on February 28, 2009 at 2:48 PM

You guys just don’t get it do ya? The feel good play nice horse-$hit has been played for years by the Bush kids. What did it get them? The dems just find another reason to bash them just as outrageously as they bash Ann or Rush. They can manufacture outrage over anything. So let them do it over Ann and at least we get a little sarcasm and satire to belittle them and their policies. That has always been one of the most effective means of winning the political debate, to show just how ridiculous your opponent is.

If you don’t have the stomach for the fight, don’t bitch about those who are doing your fighting for you!

conservnut on February 28, 2009 at 4:28 PM

Ann speaks for me! She’s witty and on target. She speaks the conservative truths as she sees them. Her purpose at CPAC is as much to fire up the troops as it is to lampoon the foolishness of our political opposition. She does well in getting to the heart of issues, as does Rush.

She’s not a politician. She doesn’t have to tip-toe diplomatically for a general audience. And she’s funny as hell.

“Johnson-esque” Bwahahahaha! You go, girl.

Better Ann as a conservative spokeswoman than the snide Noonan or Parker (who was beside herself in being allowed to fly with the Obamas to Chicago over the Valentine’s weekend. Ain’t love grand?)

Dr Evil on February 28, 2009 at 4:31 PM

“The Republican Party cannot be the anti-war Party and be, as it should be, the pro-military Party of national security and responsibility.”

We aren’t “anti” or “pro” war. We aren’t “anti” or “pro” the “military” as an abstraction. This is a major difference between liberals and conservatives.

They have a list of “good guys” and “bad guys”. They are anti-military, anti-war, anti-rich, anti-Jew, pro-criminal, pro-abortion, anti-business, pro-spending.

We are for the application of reason and principles to problem solving. We believed in war against Hitler, and Saddam Hussein, but have serious criticisms about Clinton’s various adventures in Somalia and the Balkans. We support our troops, but we are not blindly pro-military in that we spend money on every military project. We won World War III without firing a shot, remember?

One of the issues that annoys me most is “regulation”. Democrats say they are “pro-regulation” and accuse us of supporting “deregulation”. When it comes to regulations, obviously it matters WHAT regulations you’re talking about! Democrats refused regulation of the subprime mortgage issue, and then blamed this “deregulation” for the crisis, now justifying new, stupid regulations. Quantity of regulation, not substance of it, becomes the issue. I cringe every time I hear a liberal journalist ask a conservative, “Are you for regulation or deregulation?”

Excuse if I prefer not having loud mouths conservatives like Ann and Rush ruining everything for the rest of us.

terryannonline on February 28, 2009 at 2:39 PM

Terry, you never seem to miss an opportunity to slam her, but you also never read her or even listen to her (as evidenced by what you even said here).

For the record, she made jokes. People used to like that.

And as to her comment about Afghanistan, it’s not unfounded. She is right that many have tried, and many failed. And considering Obama wants to “win” while cutting funding for the military, does anyone here even believe she’s wrong?

It’ll be hard, and it’s being fought by an anti-war Democrat.

Though you criticize Coulter for opposing Obama, just because, many of you do the exact same with Coulter not even giving her the benefit of doubt that you’d give Obama, Matthews or Olberman. And then you cry when our own politicians won’t stand up for us and really stick it to Congress by saying the thing Dogbert (from Dilbert) said as though we actually reward people who do that.

Esthier on February 28, 2009 at 4:44 PM

Esthier on February 28, 2009 at 4:49 PM

We half way concede to the left when we cannibalize our own. We have enough enemies without fighting our own. Ann, when listened to, makes our argument. Stop with the political correctness, and fight like our country depends on it, because it does.

jainphx on February 28, 2009 at 4:52 PM

I LOVE COULTER!

GAWD, reading through the thread and all the Coulter bashing is such a yawn.

Is it possible to have a diverse conservative party, be entertained by the vast array of personalities and opinions and still appreciate the core of what we represent?

It appears that conservatives are adopting the sickness of the left in that some of us are striving for that perfect uptopian symbol of representation. Just enjoy the the players and give it a rest in the party. OY FREAKIN’ VEY folks.

katy on February 28, 2009 at 4:54 PM

To the ones that whine about Rush and Ann hurting the conservative or Republican cause, the liberals will always find someone to demonize. They both have the guts to tell the truth regardless of whether it causes people to not buy their book or listen to their program. They are the ones with the audience, are expected to have the ready answers, get physically and/or verbally accosted, and all you can manage is to sit at your keyboard and piss and moan about how abrasive they are. Get a thicker skin, because we’re only one month in and it’s going to get nastier.

She’s right Obama is just continuing George W Bush’s national security policy. The circumstances in Pakistan, I posted above started back in September that is while Bush was in Office, this Pakistani Military leader is saying, what they started during the Bush Administration is what is bearing fruit now and securing an important Pakistan agency Bajaur. I don’t think that would have been undertaken under the Obama Administration.

Why is AP such a sourpuss? Her speech was good and funny. Seriously, there’s a difference between being snarky and critical and just being negative. Sometimes it’s not even enjoyable to read you anymore because of how pessimistic, mean, and negative you are (emphasis on sometimes).

Ann Coulter is great, funny, and right about most of what she says. No she isn’t perfect, no everything she says isn’t going to be the best thing evar. But by and large she’s right and frankly is a lot more positive and constructive than you are AP.

Circa 2012:

Just about four years ago I set out on Obama’s Afghanistan road,
Seekin’ my fame and glory, lookin’ to turn the place into a pot of gold.
Well, things got bad, and things got worse, I guess you will know the tune.
Oh ! lord, stuck in Obama’s Afghanistan again.

Flew in on a big plane, I hope I’ll be in one piece flyin out when I go.
I was just passin’ through, must now be yet another 2 tours or more.
Running out of time and patience, looks like they took more of my friends.
Oh ! lord, Im stuck in Obama’s Afghanistan again.

The Hope and Change man in the White House said yet again I was on my way.
Somewhere I lost his connection, he ran out of words to say.
I came into Kabul, a one year stand, looks like the plans fell through again
Oh ! lord, stuck in Obama’s Afghanistan again.

Mmmm…
If I only had a woman, for evry Obama tour Ive done.
And evry time Ive had to fight while Obama and Biden sat back home power drunk.
You know, Id like to catch the next plane back to where Im from.
Oh ! lord, Im stuck in Obama’s Afghanistan again.
Oh ! lord, Im stuck in Obama’s Afghanistan again.

By the way, tea parties are acts of defiance against oppressive government. Bankers are private citizens, at least for the moment, although Obama is working very hard to change that. So that’s why nobody talked about greedy bankers at the tea parties. Maybe after the banks are nationalized, you’ll hear some of what you’re looking for.

Conservative philosophy is pretty recognizable and has been long before they were born. Oh, for crying out loud WHO LEFT GRANDPA ALONE WITH THE INTERNET?

Kensington on February 28, 2009 at 7:01 PM

oh please. In his dreams he might one day become a grandpa. You need to move out of your parents basement first.

anniekc on February 28, 2009 at 7:05 PM

Ann can really give a speech. Where are the CANDIDATES who can speak like her?

Mojave Mark on February 28, 2009 at 7:05 PM

Gawd that blonde is on fire. She has an inimitable way of emasculating liberal men and shaming their female counterparts as mental midgets. You go, Sista Coulter!!

RepubChica on February 28, 2009 at 7:06 PM

anniekc on February 28, 2009 at 7:05 PM

LOL you are a tool indeed. 20 million listeners a day – sez who? Rush? What proof? none of course.
Been out of the basement for a long time and unlike you can actually formulate my own opinions and positions. Unlike you I don’t need to check with Rush for my talking points.
But go right ahead patting yourself on the back hon.

Bradky on February 28, 2009 at 7:08 PM

I’d call what we’re going through now a crisis. And I’m talking about a socialist/communist crisis. But I’m sure anyone who kisses Obama and friends collective feet see it as mana from…whatever it is they believe in.

Applying logic or any other form of sincere analisis doesn’t work with the likes of the “blake” or “get a clue”…
simply laughing at them is all that’s required…

Bradky on February 28, 2009 at 7:08 PM

Hey doofus, he does have an estimated 20 million listeners per week. Look it up if can get your left foot to type fast enough.

RepubChica on February 28, 2009 at 7:13 PM

To be fair, according to Wikipedia, Rush’s audience amounts to somewhere in the neighborhood of at least 13.5 million listeners each week.

In talk radio terms, that’s enough to make him the most popular host on the dial, period. It’s even impressive compared to television ratings.

Allahpundit needs to crawl back into the obscurity from which he arose and he can take Ed Morrissey with him. It’s time for MIA Michelle to bring some law and order (and conservatism) back to Hot Air.

Percy_Peabody on February 28, 2009 at 5:48 PM

It’s high time Allah and Ed went rouge and started banning the tin foil hat wearing Far Right loons who comment here endlessly only for the sake of whiny sour grape laced partisanship and Truther madness about Obama.

Allah needs to evoke the memory of William F Buckley and drive these Bircher type loons back into Far Right hell where they belong.

news flash babe. Obama is Our president. He and Rush deserve each other as far as I see it. As for talking about yourself in plural… get some counseling.

Bradky on February 28, 2009 at 7:14 PM

Besides brakey… bradky or what eve your moniker is…
Have you ever had an orginal thought…
You’re the one who bought up taking points…gee…

Bradky on February 28, 2009 at 7:14 PM

Sorry toots- Barry may sleep in the Whitehouse, but he’s not my president. And here’s another scary thought for you, “Bradky”, I’m the one giving the counseling.

jerrytbg on February 28, 2009 at 7:18 PM

I’ve heard credible reports that Ann Coulter is a transexual – she used to me a man. Just look at her Adam’s Apple.
