CPAC Interview: Lonegan for NJ Governor
posted at 6:45 pm on February 27, 2009 by Ed Morrissey
The last interview I did today (but not the last I’ll post) was of New Jersey gubernatorial candidate Steve Lonegan. Lonegan will run in the primary for the Republican nomination, and wants to drum up support among conservatives. Lonegan certainly has the right agenda, including school vouchers:

We have the highest taxes and least representation of conservative principles here in Jersey. We need what he says he is… Fingers crossed and listening.

I will vote for Lonegan, but he won’t have a chance against Christie. Giuliani, who is wildly popular in NJ, was here in Northern NJ campaigning for Christie.

As a NJ Con myself I intend to do all I can to get Lonegan elected as governor.

Sorry, but Lonegan would get thrashed by Corzine. Christie has a chance and has decent positions. While I’m more aligned with Lonegan on the issues, I’d have to go with Christie.
Yeah.

NJ has been very liberal, very blue and Trenton very corrupt for a long time. Sorry to say, but Lonegan doesn’t stand a chance. As far as I’m concerned, Corzine doesn’t give a s*** for this state, so I will be one of many leaving NJ this year with my family.

What Jencab said, except for voting for Lonegan. Oh, and Lonegan won’t have a chance, period.

Take me with you!

Ed, don’t tease us. Is Chris Christie there? Didja score some air time with him? We’re getting ChrisChris fevah!
Paul_in_NJ on February 27, 2009 at 8:40 PM
Christie is a prosecutor who has done nothing of economic value. Lonegan is the real deal with an MBA not a law degree who has run a successful private business and been a successful mayor. Oh man do we need Lonegan.

Love Lonegan!! He has this family’s vote!
11 more years and we are out of this hell hole.

Left NJ 25 years ago after graduating high school to come to the much more palatable lifestyle of the South. Went back three months ago for my 25th High School Reunion in North Western part of the state. This was when election time was closing in and “the one” fever was running high. I was quite impressed by the number of McCain/Palin bumper stickers and yard signs I saw compared to what I suspected. Talking to several of my old classmates that still live in that part of the state, it seems that they “still got it” as to the dark path the libs/socialists/dims were leading this country. I was guardedly optimistic. Though the car ride from Newark up to West Milford was difficult considering all the bumper stickers for the Messiah that I saw. Not nearly that much Obamamania in this small, country Atlanta suburb I still live in. This video makes me still think there may be hope for my home state. And if that’s true, maybe the country as a whole.

Lonegan-the real deal. Would resurrect NJ.
Christie- not so much. Dare we say-more of the same.

I really like this guy and it’s a shame I may never get a chance to vote for him here in Jersey.
RepubChica on February 28, 2009 at 8:58 AM
Wait there are conservatives in NJ. ;-)
I’m from Colorado.
.
Remember if Christie wins the primary hold your nose and vote for him in mass.
