Video: Biden falsely claims Jindal’s state is losing 400 jobs a day

posted at 1:03 pm on February 26, 2009 by Allahpundit

Why would a sitting VP want to exaggerate how many jobs are disintegrating on his watch? Because, silly, the worse things seem now, the easier it is to credit The One later with having “created or saved” the jobs people still have.

You know what the media did here, don’t you? They … messed with Joe. Click the image to watch.

Typical… Lies, lies and more lies and not one single person in the MSM will call out this blatent liar! He works for the Liar-In-Chief, so why be surprised… The far left radicals are tearing America apart and we are sitting back watching… Someone MUST call these cowards and liars out… We need Jindal and Steele to ATTACK, right now, and prove the lie… and keep doing so…

Have mercy, man, there are only 24 hours in a day.

It would take a month of Sunday to expose and to document the blatant lying, corruption and incompetence of the absolutely worthless Democrat Party.

And that would only take us up to 1971. Then things REALLY got bad.

And far fewer Dems in office.

Anyone hear or see Joe answer a question in this interview about how the stimulus would help a small business and he answered that if there is a creek that hindered the owner or customers from the business, a bridge would be built???

I heard it on the radio this morning but this is the only reference I can find.

Ordonez also asked him about the plight of a small businesswoman who had to lay some people off due to the bad economy.

The woman, identified as Lisa Hendrickson, wondered specifically what in the spending package will help small business.

He told Ordonez that Hendrickson should call his office directly and he personally “will be able to guide her on what pieces of this package will be directly helpful.”

That’s customer service.

He also demonstrated some clairvoyancy skills theorizing that perhaps customers aren’t able to get to her business because a bridge over a creek somewhere is destroyed.

No problem though. The stimulus package will repair that bridge. If there is one. And it’s destroyed. And if they can find it.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Louisiana had 121,949 unemployed people in December (the last month for which data is available) and 108,553 in November. The difference is 13,396. Divide that by 31, the number of days in December, and you get 432 and change.

Just another useless factoid.

factoid on February 26, 2009 at 1:31 PM

First, pravo!!! I appreciate a progressive using numbers to back up their argument. No sarchasm.

But you are only providing one side of the numbers you cited. You forgot the increase employment of 2384 jobs. So the net loss of jobs in December is 11,012 jobs. Divide that number by 31 and you get an average of 355 jobs lost per day.

I await the counter argument. I assume it will be 355…432 tomato…tomauto.

I’m going to disagree.

We know that if a Republican had said something along these lines, the media would be all over it in an effort to “put it into context.” Can we do that for Biden here?

Is Jindal’s state the only one losing jobs? Probably not. We’re in a recession here, and there are a couple of states participating.

So, where does Jindal’s state fall? On the high end? On the low end? Somewhere in the middle?

I guess it’s my job as a citizen with a full time time and family to dig up all these numbers and compare all of the states. Not the newsmedia.

For all we know, Jindal’s state is doing exceptionally well compared to others, but we’ll never know because the media has no desire to shine a light in that direction.

I do not agree with Republican sycophants either. The alternative seems to be worse, however. When news became entertainment, it was all over. Used to get up in the morning and watch the Today show. Words. . . just words. He and Obama won the election saying whatever they wished: So why change now? As long as people hear what they want to hear, Biden has nothing to worry about. Until, that is, the whole crap-house comes crashing down, which could be soon.

He spoke it in the present tense (“Louisiana is losing”). If he was speaking about last year, it was a rather stupid point to make. And in general, 5.9% in this economy (in most economies) is exceptionally good.
