Starve the Pig sounds like a great idea to me. My little freelance business doesn't earn in the six digits, but I still want to participate. It would be foolish to think the middle class are going to be exempt from tax increases anyway. Heaven knows we can expect payroll tax to go up and as far as I'm concerned, that's the biggest burden I have being in business for myself.

What would be great is if some tax guru could throw up a website for us laypeople listing some things we could do to reduce our tax burden besides just earning less at our jobs. Working for cash isn't really an option for me, but I can sure donate as much as possible to charity. What else can we do? What about investments? I'm already moving my 401(k) to an IRA since I anticipate the former will be a thing of the past before this administration is voted out. What other things can we do to minimize taxable income?

It would be great if enough people would just flat out refuse to pay taxes to actually make a difference. The Tea Parties are great, and I hope we have one near where I live, but we need a real tea party, one that actually means something. Several million taxpayers telling Obama to eff off would be a tea party with meaning.

OK, here is a little nugget that Rep. Kanjorski leaked out. Fast forward to about 22:52 and watch and listen up to about 26:55. On 9/15/08, the House of Representatives had an emergency closed door meeting. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke came in and explained that on the previous Thursday, at about 11AM, there was an electronic run on the US banking industry money markets. About $550 Billion was removed in less than 2 hours. The Treasury opened up and pumped $105 Billion back into it, but they soon realized that would not stop the run, so they shut it down. He said, that if they did not pull the plug, by about 2PM that day, close to $5.5 Trillion would have been removed from the US, and it would of collapsed our country, followed in less than 24 hours, by the collapse of the entire World.

What date was the last Thursday before the Sept 15? And did the attack?

Now Snowe wants tax reform? Wish she wanted it a few weeks ago.

Done That on February 27, 2009 at 5:49 AM

I think the French after WWII had a term for such that went something like "Maquis, après la guerre" ; that is, "freedom fighter, postwar". Prepare to see a lot of that over the next few years.

Owners of capital will stimulate the working class to buy more and more of expensive goods, houses and technology, pushing them to take more and more expensive credits, until their debt becomes unbearable. The unpaid debt will lead to bankruptcy of banks, which will have to be nationalized, and the State will have to take the road which will eventually lead to communism. -<strike>Karl Marx</strike>

People were not thinking. In the last downturn, a lot of jobs went cash so they would not disturb un-employment benefits. That of course will bankrupt state unemployment funds and run off businesses if the states escalate unemployment taxes,

I see Obama swiftly made some moves that will cost about 1.5 million jobs and not bring a net addition of jobs for a long time until he drops taxes.

Even the new economist named "Rosy Scenario" will not be able to bail us out.

It is beginning to seem that the short-term goal of Obama is to engineer a depression the likes of which the world has never seen.

The comeuppance of America being the long-term one.

The $25k figure is misleading because the upper percentiles will end up paying a disproportionate share. Right now this is taking the expenditure divided equally among all taxpayers--and we have nothing if not an unequal system of taxation.

Hmmm.... $1 trillion in new taxes.

Sounds to me like the perfect reason to ban abortion altogether. The more babies born today, the more taxpayers there are tomorrow to help share the burden with my children.

That’s my only comment on this, really — how completely and dangerously inured I am now to unbelievably extravagant spending. And given the fact that 63% of the public’s already blessed the idea of a second stimulus, I can only assume they feel the same way.

The numbers are so big that folk simply do not understand them. In addition, folk say..."$25,500 in new debt per taxpayer, so what, I never get a bill. Now give me my goodies"

If conservatives could make a clear, and almost bumper sticker simple, case on how all this borrowing hurts today's individual, then we win this argument over time. If we cannot the folk getting goodies, however little, will win.
