CPAC Interview: Michelle Lee Muccio

posted at 4:05 pm on February 26, 2009 by Ed Morrissey

Flight to DC: around $400.

Stay at hotel: around $600.

Chance to make my co-blogger go green with envy: priceless.

You’ve seen her on YouTube and on national TV, and now you can see Michelle Lee Muccio here. I caught her between commitments for just a few minutes, thanks to Stacy McCain, but be sure to give this a watch. She’s common-sense, sharp, and direct:

Blowback

I missed my big chance! Which, er, I wouldn’t have had even if I’d been there!

Ah, beta-maledom. So bittersweet.

You were there in spirit, buddy.

3) She’s conservative.

4) She’s hot.

First because it’s the responsibility (preamble) of the government to protect it citizenry, and in today’s world that means R&D, so it’s Constitutional oriented, but economically because the technological advancements make their way into the private sector and stimulate all kinds of growth.

Frickin Ed is stammering because he is mesmerized. The girl is cool, she gets a little better every time she talks. Let’s face it though, if she wasn’t super hot nobody would care. Everything she is saying is all common sense, boilerplate Conservative logic that all of us tout every day.

Too bad Allah’s little Smooochio has exchanged her bloodline Italiano accent for that of a ‘Bama gal.

Zetterson on February 26, 2009 at 4:36 PM

C’mon, don’t kid yourselves. Michelle Muccio is way out of everyone’s league here.

The facts are that she makes her living as a macroeconomist in the outrageously expensive DC area. She routinely sees trillion dollar numbers every day. She’s already pretty darn secure at this point in her life but knows she’s going to hook up with some fabulously weathly guy in a year or two.

People like us just don’t measure up to her standards. I mean, why would a woman like Michelle Muccio even take a second look at 6’1″ blue-eyed independent businessman in his mid-thirties with a six figure income, a deep voiced Texas drawl, and a sculpted, Greek god-like ass?

Dude.

ScottMcC on February 26, 2009 at 4:37 PM

Spirit of 1776 on February 26, 2009 at 4:22 PM

The same could be said for NASA. What on earth would we do without Tang??!?!?!?

All kidding aside, there are other sectors besides defense that produce the sort of technological development you’re referring to. Broader aerospace is one of them. Composite materials, semiconductor fabrication, high energy lasers…theres other worthy research fields…

Zetterson on February 26, 2009 at 4:39 PM

When I said “us”, I meant Conservatives. And no, she doesn’t “demand” attention. We like her, but the libs can hate her just as easily as any other person who espouses Conservative values. She is not the first good looking lady to do this. Our own Ms. Malkin has been demonized time and again. They will trash this girl too as soon as she gets on their radar.

echosyst on February 26, 2009 at 4:59 PM

Uh, oh. The smile and hair touching at the end. Ed’s toast.

Christien on February 26, 2009 at 4:59 PM

All kidding aside, there are other sectors besides defense that produce the sort of technological development you’re referring to.

I don’t doubt that at all. The question is if government should be the driving force or the private sector. Hence my case for M R&D.

Spirit of 1776 on February 26, 2009 at 4:59 PM

I don’t doubt that at all. The question is if government should be the driving force or the private sector. Hence my case for M R&D.

Spirit of 1776 on February 26, 2009 at 4:59 PM

So government gets to be the driving force in military R&D but nothing else? I mean there are plenty of areas where the government isnt going to be making the best decisions but Lockheed and Boeing werent going to get us to the moon all on their own…

then again im a radical on that front. id be ok with all sorts of government research if it got us colonizing space any faster.

Jim Treacher on February 26, 2009 at 5:06 PM

So government gets to be the driving force in military R&D but nothing else?

Seems to be a pretty big umbrella to me.

I mean there are plenty of areas where the government isnt going to be making the best decisions but Lockheed and Boeing werent going to get us to the moon all on their own…

Two comments:

The race to the moon was a military project, for all extents and purposes.

The return to the moon may very well be by private enterprise. Tickets for space travel are already being sold by companies with an eye toward the stars.

Spirit of 1776 on February 26, 2009 at 5:07 PM

Let’s see… Will it be:

Muccio/Palin 2012?
Palin/Muccio 2012?

Either one is, shall we say, a hot ticket. Every red-blooded conservative male in America will be lining up at the polls.

UltimateBob on February 26, 2009 at 5:10 PM

Spirit of 1776 on February 26, 2009 at 5:07 PM

Well yes, the moon race has military implications, but its budget was both federal and non-defense…though there is considerable overlap. It is this overlap that I think represents a real bridge between ideologies on determining federal priorities going forward. There is alot of cutting edge science in fields like nanotechnology that have both civilian and military implications. I believe liberals and conservatives can both realize this, and make real headway on creating a 21st century federal responsability to science as both economic engine in its own right (the more scientists we employ, or attempt to employ at good wages…the more students take science seriously as a career path)…as well as a derivative of sorts producing spinoff technologies to be developed on their own by private entities.

its the idealist in me, but its 2009, i really really think we gotta start looking into real research bringing about a real 21st century society.

ernesto on February 26, 2009 at 5:13 PM

There is alot of cutting edge science in fields like nanotechnology that have both civilian and military implications.

Precisely my point. The R&D stimulates growth via technological progression.

(the more scientists we employ, or attempt to employ at good wages…the more students take science seriously as a career path)

You are arguing that the pubic sector will pay enough to scientists not only compete with the private sector, but also attract more students?

Spirit of 1776 on February 26, 2009 at 5:19 PM

Muccio has my respect. She’s yet another concerned American who just isn’t going to take what the Marxists are doing to us.

She stepped up to the plate and said “no”

Maybe it’s just me.. but I see nothing but alarms all around me.. the people in control of the Federal Govt are actively bringing about their Collectivist wet dream and the Islamists are actively working towards a world without man-made Government.

And you folks want to say how hot she is.

Its like the stupid GOP politicians on CSPAN that I see “Oh Obama is such a nice guy. He’s so nice to talk to and he really cares”

If I was Muccio and reading these comments I’d be like “Why am I even bothering putting myself out there .. so people could talk about my looks”

You think she’s doing all this so she could become a model? Or because the economics of the govt is going to destroy us?

VinceP1974 on February 27, 2009 at 5:40 AM

Ed: WOW. Showing the free market at work… seeing an opportunity, grabbing it (but not rough-housing it too much!), mutual consent to mutual benefit. You go, man!!!

Maybe she could be a HotAir regular guest??

Whoa – lighten up, dude. Reagan had a similar message, but I don’t think he was put off if women also dug his good looks and charm, and chattered about it between themselves.

Michelle Muccio is a babe, but there are lots of “babes” out there. The fact that she happens to be a free-marketer and a babe is just a great combination (actually, to me that’s what makes her an uber-babe!).

When’s the last time you saw a free marketer that didn’t look and sound like your 7th-grade (male) geometry teacher? OK, that’s probably a bit tough, but you get the point.

Lighten up & enjoy Muccio-Palooza. We are long overdue for some bright, fresh voices, and Michelle is that and a whole lot more.
