Video: Matthews inexplicably amazed that Jindal presented himself as DC outsider

posted at 7:24 pm on February 25, 2009 by Allahpundit

The exciting conclusion to the “oh god” trainwreck. Evidently, a party blaming its opponents for the country’s problems and having a governor deliver its rebuttal to project a more populist image — like the Democrats did with Tim Kaine in 2006 and Kathleen Sebelius last year — is sufficiently fantastic to Matthews to make him exclaim under his breath. Congrats, Chris: You’ve somehow turned Keith Olbermann into the grown-up on the set.

Jaysus….what an assshole.

If Matthews worked for me, I would fire the smarmy prick and kick him out so fast he’d leave his shadow behind.

Recall he managed to do the same after Russert died. Remember the bit about believing in the Iraq war in his eulogy?

And yet you gave Matthews a full pass in your previous path when he said choosing a governor was “outsourcing,” knowing full well that Governors give responses to the president all the time. How about that.

terryannonline on February 25, 2009 at 7:35 PM

Christopher Matthews, you are a liar and an unabashed racist. Go on the attack all you want. You and your career deserve to be destroyed in the court of public opinion. You did this to yourself, sir.

Chris Matthews is on a downward spiral. I hope it turns out to be similar to the David Hasselhoff breakdown. That’s must-see TV.

Eight threads alone just on Jindal. Wow. He really is the new Sarah Palin.

Does he have daughters? If so, are they old enough to get pregnant? Does he have an abusive in-law? The media better get on this right away.

It’s a good thing I’ve not had a Democrat say in my presence something like Matthews said regarding the Republican spending for the last 8 years. After the Democrats in Obama’s first month QUADRUPLED the Bush administration’s worst deficit, if I had a Democrat complain in my presence with a straight face that the Republicans had engaged in “budget deficits” and “untamed spending,” I swear I would break his fucking nose.

Don’t they have any sense of shame at all? The hypocrisy is staggering!

philwynk on February 25, 2009 at 7:55 PM

Obama’s chief Pimp. But that might be construed as being negative towards pimps in general. At least they know and acknowledge what they do.

Just so as to put things in their proper perspective, MSNBC ilk like Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann have the type of journalistic integrity which is equal to the aftershock of a fart.

AntonK on February 25, 2009 at 8:19 PM

Chrissy is just having little tantrums because Glenn Beck is kicking his little liberal ass all over TV land.
In his short time on Fox, Beck has trounced him in the ratings race.

roninacreage on February 25, 2009 at 8:21 PM

I don’t think I regret any 80 seconds of my life more than this, watching Spitty Chrissy fall over his alliteration.
What a complete scumbag. As if his opinion mattered at all.

DrStock on February 25, 2009 at 8:42 PM

laughably staged. dcwvu on February 25, 2009 at 7:50 PM

HaHAHA! You are either legally blind, an Obama cultist in dire need of deprogramming or simply a dolt (or more likely all 3).

Jindal actually lives in that mansion and that hallway and stairway actually exists. But more on point, at what point did you begin having problems with stagecraft?

Presumably you didn’t have a problem with fake presidential seals, fake air force ones, silly Greek temples and all of the other manufactured elements of this President.

Obama is the embodiment of staged. He can’t even be himself! He’s had to run away from his past associations and remake himself as some sort of mainstream moderate. Obama has gone so far as to have his underlings make comparisons to previous presidents to help set the mood.

Perhaps you can explain the comparision between Obama pledging to spend us into oblivion and Reagan saying govt is the problem. What precisely is Reaganesque?

moxie_neanderthal on February 25, 2009 at 8:43 PM

Boys and Girls, there’s a lesson to be learned here.

When you spend half a lifetime drinking with Kennedys, don’t try to match them drink for drink. It can take a helluva toll on your critical thinking.

JohnGalt23 on February 25, 2009 at 8:44 PM

Nevicata on February 25, 2009 at 9:17 PM

Chrissy keeps getting worse and worse. Somebody needs to pull him aside and have a talk about embarrassing himself like that.

GE stock….almost worthless now. Great work Jeff Imedlt!!!

The Wall on February 25, 2009 at 9:18 PM

Suddenly, Chrissy is worried about a politician’s “staging”? Let’s see. We have the governor of Louisiana speaking from the governor’s mansion, which appears to have been constructed in the style of the region. For that he invokes, in vain, the name of the Lord. However, when Barack Obama delivers a speech in a football stadium, complete with a faux classical temple, it’s tingles up and down his leg all over again.

Whatever.

Allahpundit on February 25, 2009 at 7:35 PM

Not to worry, he is a cafeteria Catholic. He went to the same Catholic grade school I did. He must have gotten the rest of his religious education from Nancy Pelosi

msmveritas on February 25, 2009 at 9:27 PM

I recall learning in school that the antebellum period started circa 1963 when Louisiana built the “new” governors mansion. It was constructed to replace the “old” governors mansion which was built in 1929. New State Motto: When you think of Louisiana….think antebellum.

Louisiana Governor mansion giving appearance of antebellum South – bad

Matthews? Hum?
He gets “tingles” in his leg when he sees Obama.

And then when he “Sees” Jindal walking out he sighs “oh god”?

Me think Matthews has a “thing” for thin, dark skinned men.

After all,
“Chris Matthews says his two years as a Peace Corps volunteer, working as a trade development advisor in the Kingdom of Swaziland, changed his life forever.”

Could it possibly be interpretive any other way?

Well, look on the bright side. Since the 2008 election the media doesn’t have to worry about not letting it slip that they are Liberals. Before 2008 they had to “worry” about letting their bias show. Now it is all hanging out and it is pretty ugly.

BetseyRoss on February 26, 2009 at 11:34 AM

“Outsourcing” the speech = sending jobs to India?

Bobby Jindal, native born citizen, but to Matthews he must seem somehow foreign to use “outsourcing” as a description.
