Video: Taxpayers Clearinghouse Prizes
posted at 2:15 pm on February 24, 2009 by Ed Morrissey
Today’s bit of inspired political theater comes to us from Right.org, which is also holding a personal bailout contest in addition to coming up with a hilarious take on the Publishers Clearinghouse Sweepstakes. The Taxpayers Clearinghouse brings big checks to houses across the country, too … but for signatures:
Some of the taxpayer sequences look staged, but funny nonetheless for the concept. The real hilarity, though, comes when the checks get delivered. Olympia Snowe gives a completely clueless performance when she apparently believes the stunt to be staged by Amtrak supporters. The man at the Amtrak desk, meanwhile, is one of the few to get into the spirit of the event, expressing appreciation for the billion-dollar pork package.
Others take a dim view of the publicity effort. One man gets arrested when he tries to deliver a check to a bailout recipient. Security gets called at AIG, and an executive tells the activists that he doesn’t owe them an explanation. Tim Geithner ignores cash flung at his feet, surely the only time that will happen in the next four years.
Best, though, is Chuck Schumer’s response, that “Rudeness won’t get you anywhere, guys.” Isn’t this the same guy who told the “chattering classes” to shut up?

Ed, that comment on Geithner almost got corporate water all over my keyboard.
Well done!

Darn now this is something I wish I could see.

This is good. Activism from the Right. Now we need to pump up the volume.

That was pretty dang funny. The way people reacted to getting a $28,000 bill was priceless. Stunts like this put a lot of things in perspective. Schumer’s attitude towards the protest was superb and demonstrates the Democrats position perfectly. If you protest for us then you are great, but if you are against us you are rude.

Last week or the week before, the Boss had a post about a guy selling a TAX CHEAT! stamp. I think it was $12. The idea is to stamp it on bills that have Geithner’s signature. My stamp came yesterday. Works like a charm. Now, I just need some bills with Geithner’s signature on them.
I hate Schumer, and I hope he spends eternity in hell listening and watching a 30-second clip of that “chattering classes” remark.
BuckeyeSam on February 24, 2009 at 2:25 PM
Awesome!
I loved the response by the people making the video, “Neither will stealing our money, sir.”

Chucky Schumer is such a worthless pile of elitism and hypocritical idiocy.
I know, not the most interesting or profound comment in the world but man he ticks me off.

God. This is so frigging funny. I gotta quit crying. I laughed so hard I was crying.

And I LOVE the chicken!
Badger40 on February 24, 2009 at 2:28 PM
Yeah, I kind of want to pay my taxes this year with cash that has Geithner’s signature on it, and include a note that says, “Unlike this dude, I pay my taxes.”
myrenovations on February 24, 2009 at 2:29 PM
Yeah, but then Grayson you were not talking about anyone who is in any danger of being accused (much less convicted) of being either interesting or profound.

I’ve just seen a very early draft of the 2009 Tax Year Form 1040. It has a new line, just under the “Federal Campaign Contribution”, where if you check the box, $1.00 of your tax refund will be used to pay the back taxes of the Obama Administration political appointees.
Be careful, it’s been printed with the box already checked, so you’ll have to erase it.

How do you donate to these people?

LOL! That was great! Those guy are awesome. They need to seek out Specter, Pelosi, Waters, Grahmnesty (who wants to nationalize) and Clyburn (who might shout “Raaaacism”).

Paying taxes is a form of patriotism.
My 401k just got an enema as advertized on Oprah. Now it is much lighter.

Schumer is a sensitive guy isn’t he, he can dish it out but he can’t take it.
The headlines have a craptastic story about a City of Houston Councilwoman proposing that the city give taxpayer money – $3000. to first time home buyers with poor credit scores. The cash is supposed to prop up their credit, or something. Here is a funny video in the same spirit.

Schumer is the most vile person I’ve ever seen. Pelosi 2nd. Reid 3rd.

Actually, that’s a lie.
Republican support was even at 27%. Independent support dropped 8% to 54%.
faraway on February 24, 2009 at 3:16 PM
This is clearly a racist poll. Now there are two racist pollsters (gallup and rasmussen) that have his approval around 60…. but CBS will continue to pound the 74% or whatever they claimed last night on Katie Couric’s show.

Why wait for Hell? I’m thinking we capture him, tie him to a chair, clip his eyes open a la Clockwork Orange, and make him watch videos of himself making all those snarky comments about the taxpayers. All the while, we’ll be injecting him with drugs to make him puke.
It worked in the movie, didn’t it?
UltimateBob on February 24, 2009 at 3:42 PM
A sad display of the level of intelligence of the messiah’s supporters. Faced with a oversized cardboard check for $300 Billion, that black woman in red believed it.
.
It’s also sad that these people can’t be educated to vote any different because they’re already too damn stupid…

Because you were laughing so hard, right??????
