I emailed this article to Senator Durbin and am hoping that with the Blago and Burris fiasco and how it looks for Illinois Democrats that Durbin is sensitive enough to not want more dirty laundry coming out on more Democrats that he goes to his buddy Obama and asks Locke to withdraw.

So I was wonderin' why they would pick this guy... but all became clear when I checked Wiki:

Locke attended Yale University, earning a bachelor’s degree in political science in 1972.

Gotta' keep up that percentage of Ivy Leaguers, no matter what baggage they bring!

Barack Obama has found his third pick for Commerce Secretary, a post that has resembled the Spinal Tap drummer more than a Cabinet position in the Obama transition

Now that's funny! Unfortunately, it's too true.

My first thought was the Chinagate connection. Another great choice by the most ethical administration evah.

18-1 on February 24, 2009 at 12:29 PM

There is truth to that, however, even though they might be in the minority of Democrats, there are a few that seem honest.

Rep Kaptur (D) of Ohio seems to be decent and honest, wrong in many ways, but still realistic. For example, she is one of the Dems who voted against the first bail out when it failed, back before the election. Maybe I've been fooled, but she has always come across as reasonable whenever I watch C-span.

(Yes I'm one of the 18 people who watch C-span regularly)

The problem as I see it is that coming from the Chicago sludge taints your perceptions of what is good and honest.

i.e. Roland Burris probably believes he did nothing inappropriate because by Chicago Democrat standards he was angelic. Inappropriate by the rest of the world standards remains to be determined as events come to light.

Obama could still choose better.

Not to be overly negative, but... might the problem not be that virtually every highly-placed Democrat has engaged in questionable fund raising schemes?

What strikes me as remarkable is that nobody, Democrat or Republican, has mentioned that President Clinton faced similar problems, but President Bush did not.

There is a difference between the two parties.

Oh, and in fairness to Obama - it isn't easy to find high profile Democrats who aren't crooks of one stripe or another.

Seriously, the Democrat platform is based on stealing from others. Why are we shocked that the people enacting the platform skim a little off the top before sending on their loot to the special interest groups that get them elected?

Can’t anyone in this administration vet potential nominees? Did they really believe that tying themselves to the Clinton China-gate scandal was a smokin’ hot idea?

Who is in charge of vetting these criminals?

Well, with a current batting average of 1.000, I'd say a criminal is in charge of vetting the criminals.

I'm learning a lot about what not to do in public office if you want to avoid even the appearance of impropriety (which, of course, Locke's shinanigans go waaaay beyond).

Kind of sad about March Fong Eu playing the race card too with respect to screening Locke's relationship with Huang. I had respect for her until I read that. After reading Michelle's article, I googled "March Fong Eu" "John Huang" and came up with this; I'm wondering if that's why she withdrew from the Governor's race a few years back?

I'll bet you could take all the old Fat Albert cartoons, dub in some hope-N-change dialogue and there you go.

Nobody is "vetting" anyone, Allahpundit. They are all crooks.

This is sort of like if we elected Al Capone to the presidency and you wondered why his cronies were all gangsters.
