Cute. The likes of me. I'm included among those on this site who don't think Biden was right. I wish Sarah Palin knew at the time enough about our involvement in the Middle East to refute some of Biden's nonsense about places other than Iraq of Afghanistan.

Again I'll reiterate (Jindal is my Governor by the way) ...

That Bobby Jindal has not received the press bashing that Sarah Palin did. But - YOU CAN COUNT ON THE FACT that he'll receive that bashing just as soon as the liberals perceive him to be a threat. They are still bashing Palin - because they feel she isn't dead yet.

Now I just wonder how all you CONSERVATIVES will behave once Jindal gets his from the MSM? I'm betting that many of you will run from him the way you ran from Palin - because face it - though most of you complain about the MSM - you still allow them to tar and feather your candidates and once they've destroyed him or her - you cry over the body and look for someone. Mission accomplished MSM.

Gonna keep happening until you attack the media vociferously.

Sarah Palin got a week of bashing and pelting and lies from the Media before she even gave that speech at the RNC. When she went out on that stage - she was unfazed - she KILLED. I have experience making speeches - I would NOT have been able to walk out on that stage and deliver the speech she did. She has it - but we let the MSM take it.

I won't abandon her - the freakin' MSM doesn't tell me who to vote for. Palin or Jindal - either one will have to EARN the nomination in '12. I'll support either one - will YOU? After the MSM sodomizes them?

There are a dozen solid reasons to oppose Obama but find one reason not to support Jindal and he’s toast.

Didn’t Palin just whiff big time in trying to prove that?

Bradky on February 24, 2009 at 5:39 AM

Palin was not the top of the ticket, McCain was. She was used to make McCain look weak, since going after him was too risky for a Democrat given his war record. However, the public was hugely responsive to Palin in an overall positive way, and she has some time to strengthen her credentials and prepare for her own run, if she chooses.

I watched it live and read the transcripts, so I don't need any refresher from the likes of you. You will find few people on this site who think Biden was right on the surge, on the Afghanistan counterinsurgency, on a three-state solution, on dealing with Pakistan or several of the points Sarah Palin spanked him on during that debate. The reviews from the major networks and blogs all credit her with a good showing.

I'm with all those who say let's support both Governor Palin and Governor, especially right now. I want to see them continue to govern their states well. They will be examples of what conservative leadership is all about. We any conservative will get hammered.

Why should there be a split between those who like Palin and those who like Jindal? We do need all the conservatives with executive experience we can get.

Ditto.

I'm very pro-Palin, and think those that underestimate her do so at their own peril (and I bet Frank Murkowski and the Alaska GOP would agree with me, albeit very grudgingly). Nevertheless, based on what I see now, I like Jindal quite a bit as well, and think he could be a very strong voice and candidate for us as well.

If the 2012 primary comes down to a 3-way race between Palin, Jindal, and Sanford, I'll be happier than a fat man in a buffet line, because it means we will end up with a nominee who can unite the disparate parts of the base. Competitive and heated as such a primary season may become, it will be much more satisfying that what we had in 2008, where every candidate had major warts and we ended up with a grumpy old man who inspired nobody.

"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. This is an example of what Jindal would face from the MSM in 2012, only 100x worse. (Since this article was written by a columnist from the Christian Broadcasting Network).

First Jindal and Palin do quite well on interviews… it is the people behind the scenes cutting and pasting the film that make people wonder about credibility.

Second, being that anyone can be found out on their voting by going to an elections office… that sentence you stated doesn’t mean crap and obviously you haven’t gone to an election office to ask.

Third, I doubt you have ever seen a Mama Grizzly … just because you have in a zoo and not in the wilderness, doesn’t make up the difference. Trust me on that one!

I think it's appropriate to be concerned about the poise, charisma, and accumulated baggage of *any* candidate, particularly in this next election, but I haven't seen anything to suggest we should "forget" about Palin or Jindal. What they do next will matter much more than anything they have done in the past. It could be that Palin's savage treatment at the media's hands in 2008 will inoculate her from some of the same criticisms in 2012, if she presents herself carefully. The credibility of the media took a pretty big hit in 2008, and you can tell they know it, and some of them feel a little embarrassed about it. The full extent of that damage is yet to be seen.

It seems obvious to suggest the media will try very, very hard to get Obama re-elected - the media Left will have deep personal and practical reasons for sparing no effort to ensure the First Black President is not seen as a dismal one-term failure. Anyone the Republicans run - Jindal, Romney, Batman - is going to get the same treatment Palin got in 2008, and then some. It seems wise to take a serious look at the person who went through that chamber of horrors once already. And if things go *really* badly with Obama, the media might be eager to dissociate themselves from him, treating him the way they treat Carter these days: airbrushed out of the historical record. (Judging from media stories, the only thing of note that occurred between 1976 and 1979 was the release of "Star Wars.") This could make them less than eager to revisit any aspect of Campaign 2008.

I think it's a great asset for both Palin and Jindal that they are youthful. Palin might be uniquely positioned to drive home the point that Obamanomics means debt slavery for our children - it's the kind of message a female candidate can deliver with particular resonance for an emotion-driven electorate.

Please people, let’s forget Sarah Palin. She was obviously was unprepared for the national scence and she is still unprepared. Going on Greta is not enough! She needs to do interviews with serious political journalists. She needs to talk in details about the issues of the day. Here mama grizzly routine is wearing thin.

I completely agree that the electorate will be just as polarized as it has in the past three elections. I do believe it could be a deal-breaker though. When someone runs for office they pull up everything that they have done since wiping their backside for the first time when they were two. The press will find everything that he has voted on and which way it went. They will omit the decisions he made which could refute their claim and then slant the story to make him look like an ideologue. When it comes to character assassination the press knows no bounds.

I see your point in how you should try even in the face of despair, but you are misunderstanding my point. I am not saying we shouldn't try, I am saying we (conservatives) need to choose our candidates much more carefully. Is Jindal a good guy? By all accounts he is, and his views will give him plenty of votes in the Bible vote, but not the rest of the country.

Pardonme but the strings placed on $’s by the federal government (our congress) are so far reaching and detrimental to our economic well being. Let’s look at an example: Freddie and Fannie several years ago established a class of stock that was only able to be purchased by banks. This stock was set up to pump money into Freddie and Fannie so government (our congress) REQUIRED banks to buy the special stock. So folks, your local bank that you feel is so prudent in its business affairs was REQUIRED to buy the stock even when they knew it was not in their best interest or the interest of its depositors. But they had NO CHOICE in the matter because (our congress) needed the money to build up Freddie and Fannie. Now turn the page: with the collapse of Freddie and Fannie what was to happen to all this stock that the regional and local banks were REQUIRED to buy. Now the government (our congress) REQUIRED the banks to write off the stock that they were REQUIRED to buy. Do you see the picture? The losses were and are enormous! All at the hands of (our congress). Do you know who really lost all the money? You did. Now your local and regional bank does not have as much money to lend and you know what that does to the local real estate business and the small businesses in your home area. What’s my point? Money that comes from the government is coming with strings that reach so far into your pocket and you don’t even realize it. (our congress) is in business for itself and its power. They have their pet projects and they don’t care how they achieve them and they have learned to do away with transparency and cover up their maneuvers so that we don’t even know what they are doing.
The few Governors who are now considering not taking the money from the “stimulus package” are perhaps much wiser than they are given credit. They know the traps that are hidden in the package that will gain more power for (our congress) and do not want to subject their citizens to the future problems similar to what happened to the banks. God bless these people and give them the strength to resist. It will, in the long run, be a saving grace for their states and citizens.
