Arnold to Sanford and Jindal: I vill take de stimulus money if you don’t want it
posted at 6:02 pm on February 22, 2009 by Allahpundit
Two videos, one from this morning and the other from 1990, tracking the evolution of a Republican icon. I’m no expert on Milton Friedman, but I imagine he’d find the “emergency” rationale for higher taxes rather highly nuanced indeed.
Exit question: When Schwarzenegger calls on the GOP to be “team players” by acquiescing in The One’s agenda, how long does he intend for “the game” to last? Until the emergency passes, whenever that is, or for Obama’s entire term?

Blowback

Actually, it was started by FDR.

You might be right man, with the way the GOP spent us into oblivion the last 8 years, which allowed the Democrats to win the high ground and now they can consolidate power in all areas, education, unions, regulations, election boards, etc. I cant deny you may be right.
True_King on February 22, 2009 at 7:09 PM
One stupid man on socialism, 43, with another, even bigger one, your narcissistic cipher in chief, a genius don’t make.
Here’s what he will say on Tuesday
“My fellow countrymen, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you’ll join with me as we try to change it. The great governor of Kalifornia already has”.

Sure there is an end in sight. Just keep the herd GOP moving with the threat of lightning and pretty soon everyone will be dependent on us. Just make sure all these temporary jobs hit at the tail end of ’09 so we can spin the employment numbers……

Watching Sanford today on FNC, I think he probably doesn’t have the charisma, but he sure has the brains. We need more like him who can articulate persuasively the conservative rationale.

Take heed. With all the advantages California has (or had) it has become a shameful parody of what it once was. Stiffle the multicultural, leftest, utopia on earth crowd in your state or you will be close behind.
Truly a tragedy for those who remember what California once was.

arnold is an ACTOR..
Rember this..
I love his tough guy stuff (but I must remind myself)
AL the time that arnold is an ACTOR who worked in a make believe industry for 20 years..
This does not make him a LEADER
This does not make him or any celeb a toughned veteran
I am sorry but what happened is arnold ran into a brick wall called liberalism and he couldnt break through it.
So he chickened out and then goes running to the feds..
I would have shut down the entire state for 3 months…
Problem and budjet solved..
But again arnold is an actor.. but nothing else underneath..
Reagan at least had his biblical belief system..
This gave him the inner courage he needed..
So did bush..
But the holywood celebs are all
EMPTY SUITS..

Reminds me of the story
of the passengers in the airliner

and then the pilot and co-pilot
carrying parachutes
walked down the aisle
towards the back exit saying:
“Everyone remain calm -
we are going for help.”

Equal opportunity? Offshoring and H1/L1 abuse alone tear that to shreds. You are taking the opportunity away from a citizen and playing favorites with the Third World’s worst.
When those in business who were responsible for it deserve it, they are to be penalized. Full stop.

“Innovators”. They have “innovated” a giant debt Ponzi Scheme. Instead of conning people to give them more under false pretenses, they are conning people to take on mountains of debt, all to benefit them.
My Fellow Dumb*($#’s,
Tough times require sacrifices by all you who save, sacrifice, and manage your debt and pay your bills. Everyone else is a victim deserving of government assistance due to no fault of their own, other than irresponsibility. We must save the auto companies, we must save the banks, we must save the states, and save the mortgages. Do not fear, I will save you all too when we get through with that…..

Nice straw man argument try there, but it won’t fly here. Your premise tries to sell ‘opportunity’ as a negative because of some criminally bad choices.
People get wonderful opportunities in this country everyday. The fact that they choose to do evil with it is their choice. Others build a great country.

California used to be the glittering jewel of the America’s. Just a wonderful state when I was a child, didn’t live there but used to go often to visit my family. The most beautiful real estate in the states. Green, fruitful, bountiful, very wealthy. Look at it now. Wow, it is beyond belief what has been allowed to happen over there.
Another thing that is evident is that Arnold represents the kind of candidates the GOP wants to run with.

I’m not the smartest guy of here but correct me if I’m wrong: wasn’t it the Democrats that basically got us in the fix were in by passing the Community Reinvestment Act in 1977 under Jimmy Carter? And wasn’t it the democrats who pushed and pushed banks to make subprime mortgage loans, by definition, to customers with less ability to pay back the loans? Banks were forced to abandon sound business practices in order to advance the cause of ‘social justice’ as advocated by the Democratic Party.
Sure some RINO’s supported these measures but as far as I’m concerned this was bad business, simple as that. And anyone who supports a President that wants to bail out subprime borrowers at the expense of those who are paying their mortgages is persona non grata, and now that includes Governator.

Puff the Magic Negro lived by the sea — I am convinced that there are too many possible leaks for Obama to hire enough plumbers to keep things quiet for much longer. I think the first thing that will break is his use of an Indonesian passport which will prove his Indonesian citizenship as an adult. Next his college records will indicate that he was a foreign student receiving student aid as a foreigner. Then we will find out where he was born without seeing the birth certificate. And then finally the birth certificate will be released as part of his impeachment trial.

I take the approach of Rush limbaugh and Mark Levin with regards to the Messiah. Like Patton, you attack, attack and attack. You do not allow yourself to be put of the defensive. If you are going to lose your liberty, your freedom, your ability to control your own destiny and not be rewarded for showing personal initiative and creativity as an entrepreneur then you might as well go down fighting with your rifle at your bedside preparing yourself for ACORN and Obama’s brownshirts.

OT: Did anyone watch the four governors on Fox Sunday today? Though a Dem, I still get a kick out of Rendell. I find it funny to think of him in the same party with a bunch of San Francisco residents. Sanford was good; Pawlenty’s kind of a tool. The panelist I couldn’t get over was the Michigan governor. Her state is a wreck. To me, it was like inviting Jindal’s predecessor after her terrible performance in Katrina.

As for Obama’s speech tues. I have a feeling I know what’s coming. More of the same fear mongering.
In my head I see a body of a chicken with Obama’s head. And instead of walking/strutting around clucking, the new sounds will be heard as “it’s a crisis…it’s a crisis…it’s a crisis.” I have to find it funny. Otherwise I think I’d just cry.

So, just because CEO’s of some Silicon Valley companies have opposite political beliefs, it is good enough a reason to equate them to Hollywood? I don’t think you have a logical line of reasoning. FWIW, there are many Silicon Vally CEO’s (including John Chambers, CEO of Cisco) who are major Republicans and also contributors to GOP.
Also, someone compared the Bay area innovators to Ponzi schemes – they would probably have been saying the same about Warren Buffet at some point of time. How many of you guys use Google? A computer? Right …

It bothers me that Governors like Granholm and Arnold say they will take the money if the other governors don’t want it. I thought the idea was you were only taking what you needed to help your state not taking as much as you can get like you are lined up at the trough and are just pushing another pig off the end. The view that you should take as much borrowed money as you can get if someone else doesn’t want to put it on the taxpayers tab you will is disgusting. I don’t think we’ll see it happen unless the Republicans take the house in 2012. Right now, Obie could serially rape 100 second grade boys and girls live on national TV and the house would either yawn or applaud. The Rezko land-deal-pay-for-play alone should put obie behind bars but, as we know, laws don’t apply to our political masters, just the little guys and Republicans
The problem with Ahnold is the problem republicans and conservatives have had to deal with over the last 50 years or so.. the promise of ‘free’ money. The other problem is that there are very few people like Reagan or Theodore Roosevelt who have a natural ability to control the political landscape.

What about fields that are largely union-free such as programming/IT? Hardly any thought went into the forming of a union until the folks were offshored. Now they’re threatened with offshoring by those who abuse immigration law. There was no problem with the talent – IBM acknowledged that with Project Match. They just wanted them at slave labor conditions and wages, or have captive H1/L1′s.
No, I’m just someone who found out the answer to “what cost prosperity?”. I put 2 very similar situations together (2003′s offshoring of skilled labor and 1970′s-current evisceration of domestic manufacturing).
The only differences were social class (blue collar versus white collar) and by means (unionbusting versus abuse of immigration law to undermine citizens’ opportunities). Thankfully I’m not the only one who did.
2006 was your warning. 2008 was your reckoning.

Why aren’t those states and municipalities experiencing budget woes takin a hard look at the successes of those that are not and buy a clue?
Too many states have been imposed horrendous corporate taxes that have driven out their revenue stream. They have imposed taxes on anything that cannot run away fast enough. They discourage young people from remaining in their states by not encouraging job creation and by taxing them to death. They do no fight back against federal regulations that prevent the development of energy sources. They provide loopholes and sanctuary cities for those who do not contribute to the general welfare. They bloat the government with personnel and nonproductive programs at the expense of critical services. They are riddled with graft and paybacks. The list goes on…
Government is too big, too unaccountable, and the epitome of failure in too many states and cities.
