Video: Attractive economist already drawing MSM attention
posted at 1:45 pm on February 21, 2009 by Allahpundit
Yes, it’s her. With exactly one YouTube video to her credit, she’s already doing interviews with the likes of Bob Schieffer. I confess, I’d be smitten if not for the fact that my heart is already pledged to KP. Well, that and the southern accent.
Exit question one: Beautiful, libertarian, and a green belt in karate? Dude. Exit question two: How did CBS beat Fox News to the punch on this? Don’t Andy Levy and Steve Doocy read this site?

Blowback

Relax…why so serious?
Asher on February 21, 2009 at 2:47 PM
Oh, but Phil, I think you know why. Let’s review:
- who is the only demonstrably intelligent and accomplished* person of this generation to grace an anchor’s seat? (*define accomplished as other than earning that seat)
A: Brit Hume, conservative and serious IT geek.
- what is the universal theme connecting every single news program in American broadcast media that is not a part of Fox News?
A: Liberalism, which comes equipped with a genetic inability to understand basic Friedman economics.
Francois on February 21, 2009 at 2:47 PM
Tax breaks for the rich! Wonderful. The universal solution to every problem. It solves everything from diarrhea to bird flu to every problem in between such as the ailing global meltdown.
How does that help the unemployed? It doesn’t. Unless more innovative solutions are proposed, the Republicans are going to be part of the permanent minority.
jacobnyc on February 21, 2009 at 2:48 PM
A star is born.
JohnJ on February 21, 2009 at 2:48 PM
Oh, but Ash, I think you know why. “Liberalism”.
Francois on February 21, 2009 at 2:49 PM
The rich minority?..
the_nile on February 21, 2009 at 2:50 PM
Since Obama’s stimulus plan does nothing but give billions to wealthy corporations, I don’t think you have room to talk.
JohnJ on February 21, 2009 at 2:50 PM
Since that response betrays a certain, ah, penile inadequacy, I’ll graciously assume irony on your part… ;-}
warbaby on February 21, 2009 at 2:51 PM
Or, your mind. Obviously, you’ve never had some sweet gal play with your hair while whispering, in a sexy southern accent, in your ear.
Blake on February 21, 2009 at 2:52 PM
Heh, why would you wish that on her? (I kid)
Seriously, though, I’d bet AP would be a lot happier long-term with a KP type instead of a woman like this particular lady.
Spirit of 1776 on February 21, 2009 at 2:52 PM
I believe historical linquistics supports this assertion.
DarkCurrent on February 21, 2009 at 2:53 PM

Blake on February 21, 2009 at 2:54 PM
Rich people hire other people to work for them.
Oh that’s right, liberals think that only the President creates jobs, and those in the private sector do nothing but fly around in private jets while raiding 401Ks and eating babies.
My last boss was “rich.” He hired be because he could afford to pay me. What’s wrong with that?
Byzantine on February 21, 2009 at 2:54 PM
Hair???
katy on February 21, 2009 at 2:55 PM
I smell a rat here. MSM using an attractive, articulate, yet not quite qualified “economist” to be the face of Friedmanesque market based solutions. Her explanations have the sizzle but no steak.
They substitute someone like her instead of someone like Newt, or Pence, who could articulate the intellectual argument.
aquaviva on February 21, 2009 at 2:55 PM
No, the “well, no, not quite” stood for not “PURE MUSCLE, BABY”.
Entelechy on February 21, 2009 at 2:56 PM
Perhaps paying more attention to the basics of economics would be of benefit.
The “rich” are the one’s who put up the capital, take the risks, and are the entrepreneurs who invent, innovate, develop, market and produce products and services. They require employees to do so. They require suppliers who require employees. They require logistics and transportation, which requires employees. And so on and so forth. This actually helps the unemployed by providing opportunities for employment and advancement, rather than maintaining an unemployed/underemployed caste.
“Rich” is currently defined by the Obama Administration as anyone with a household income of $+150K. Government preventing them from being able to use their money to invest, develop, produce, etc., products and services through excessive taxation in order to “give” money to those less able or willing to assume the risks of investment is actually clearly counter-productive for all the population, and in effect such excessive taxation is keeping the poor poor, and making the “rich” poorer…and the Nation overall less productive.
coldwarrior on February 21, 2009 at 2:56 PM
True.
Allahpundit on February 21, 2009 at 2:56 PM
Perhaps we should strike a deal with the teachers unions: they can “teach” all the hippie crap they want but we get to totally control all of the economics classes. Within 5 years we would create a tidal wave change in GOP party affiliation.
myrenovations on February 21, 2009 at 2:58 PM
Pretty much proves my point as to the mindset… you don’t get anything “back” if it’s never taken to begin with (via tax cuts).

Her idea is not a good one. There are already enough people [nearly 50%] w/no “skin in the game”. Let them pay something in taxes, and besides, it’s not really a tax, but a retirement plan, no?

warbaby on February 21, 2009 at 3:09 PM
Her plan would only affect those who pay taxes. At least it wouldn’t be a misnomer like Obama’s tax relief for non-payers.
Plan itself, is probably irrelevant, but the impact of questioning who can spend $ more wisely will be important moving into Stimulus III and Tarp II.

A Puzzled Mind on February 21, 2009 at 3:30 PM
Michelle Muccio has committed the cardinal sin of publicly criticizing the righteous and benevolent rule of “The One”. She will soon be the subject of a disjointed and laughably stupid Robert Gibbs tirade.
Mike Honcho on February 21, 2009 at 3:34 PM

They say you’re nearly eight feet tall
And yet quite graceful…all in all
I’m told you waddle when your walk
And often twitch when you talk
Some say your breath is sweeter than an Irish rose
I’m sure KP would fall in love if she would cross your path
La, yes, if she could overlook the warts upon your nose
And possibly persuade you to take a bath
PercyB on February 21, 2009 at 3:41 PM
I dunno if she is an economist but I prefer Dawn Bennet who is usually on Kudlow. She’s rich and beautiful.

She did great! Oh that more lessons like these are taught to the American people to break through the propaganda of the MSM. I’ll bet Bob thought this would be a straw man (woman) easy to kick down. I think he was the one who got kicked.

B.A. in Economics from George Mason University. She needs to at least complete a graduate program before we call her an “economist.” Who wants to start a scholarship fund?
DrStock on February 21, 2009 at 3:48 PM
Two steps to American prosperity:
1)Lower corporate tax rate to 11% as Ireland did. American companies overseas would move back next week. As for the “Progressive” arguments against this, 11% of everything coming back is better than 35% of nothing. Unemployment would be erased immediately.
2)FairTax. This would get tax dollars out of all those in Obama’s cabinet everytime they bought something, rather than have everyone looking for ways not to pay taxes. Would bring an estimated $15 Trillion dollars in offshore accounts back to work in the U.S. economy.
Of course that pretty much kills liberalism and phony economic conservatives. We could stop sending aid all over the world as well. Let Europe take care of them if socialist economies are so great.
I want my country back…..now!!!!!!!!!!!!!
