Video: Attractive economist already drawing MSM attention
posted at 1:45 pm on February 21, 2009 by Allahpundit
Yes, it’s her. With exactly one YouTube video to her credit, she’s already doing interviews with the likes of Bob Schieffer. I confess, I’d be smitten if not for the fact that my heart is already pledged to KP. Well, that and the southern accent.
Exit question one: Beautiful, libertarian, and a green belt in karate? Dude. Exit question two: How did CBS beat Fox News to the punch on this? Don’t Andy Levy and Steve Doocy read this site?

Blowback

Come on Fox!
JeffreyLloyd on February 21, 2009 at 1:49 PM
Either way, I’m glad she’s getting press. Sure, part of it is because she’s attractive, but the message of tax cuts = thousands of dollars back, vs stimulus = $13/week is important.
I’m glad she’s out there with her message.
Spirit of 1776 on February 21, 2009 at 1:50 PM
What is her name?

Applause !! This woman Rocks !!

“Something for nothing,” Bob? It’s called keeping the money you worked to earn. That’s something for something. What Obama’s doing is nothing for something. You work hard (do something) and get to keep nothing.
aero on February 21, 2009 at 1:53 PM
And who was it that said economics is boring? I’d listen to her for hours…it’s all in the delivery.

She should have kicked after he said that “the people will like it because they would be getting money for nothing.”

I especially liked her come back Bob Schieffer when he tried to say that the people were getting something for nothing. Michelle nailed Schiefer by reminding him that its the people’s money. Absolutely correct!!

I do believe Mr. Schieffer is smitten. (Maybe that is the secret in getting the MSM to pay attention and learn some common sense about economics.)

My God, the world is filling up with beautiful women who are brilliant. For the first time I’m beginning to think I was born too early, after a lifetime of whining that I was born too late.

AS pretty as she is…I cant help but lament the dumbing down of serious, complex issues in the media today. We’re a NY Post/Newsweek nation when we should be an Financial times/Economist nation.
ernesto on February 21, 2009 at 2:02 PM
She says the money belongs to the workers and the workers should be able to keep their money. How stupid. Scheiffer condescends that obviously brains and beauty don’t mix, especially in a young female martial artist.
petefrt on February 21, 2009 at 2:02 PM
I like very Muccio!
TheSitRep on February 21, 2009 at 2:04 PM
Lawrence, isn’t it fitting that we both latched on to the same adjective to describe Schieffer’s reaction?
I do believe that if he had had a one-on-one interview with Sarah Palin, we might have had a more supportive response for her smarts than the media gave her.
onlineanalyst on February 21, 2009 at 2:05 PM
let the boys have their fun for crying out loud. Feminists keep trying to swim up stream. Good luck with that.
But other than that…, doesn’t she make you proud to a fiscal conservative?

Ah, but John F’in Kerry already said we can’t let people keep their money, because, well who knows what they would spend it on! Certainly not much that would further the Dems’ Brave New World.

Spirit of 1776 on February 21, 2009 at 2:09 PM
I like her approach but I think she has missed a fundamental point and that is Obama couldn’t care less about the economy . . . he cares only about creating a Marxist state and paying of his parasitic constituents and socialist backers.
rplat on February 21, 2009 at 2:09 PM
And what a way to go. :|
Patrick S on February 21, 2009 at 2:10 PM
More important is realizing it was your own money to begin with… I’m not rippin’ ya, it’s just that that’s how the left keeps the “we can’t afford to give you money” meme alive.
hindmost on February 21, 2009 at 2:10 PM
She makes too much sense to be taken seriously by inherently corrupt politicians. She actually thinks workers should be able to keep their own money while the politicians see the workers’ money as their entitlements to be gearnered as they see fit. Brains + beauty & common sense are not attributes conducive for public service.
volsense on February 21, 2009 at 2:10 PM
Alright, don’t make fun of her southern accent. Happy? :)
FontanaConservative on February 21, 2009 at 2:11 PM
That is a far more sexist comment than anything anyone else has said here. Men are automatically ‘chauvinist pigs’ because they note that a woman is attractive? What is it called when women notes that a man is attractive? Are they ‘chauvinist pigs’ too?
Feminist set out to change human nature, no wonder feminism has failed three generations of American women so miserably.

J.J. Sefton on February 21, 2009 at 2:12 PM
Contrary to your obvious assumption, smart men are attracted to women with brains, and smiles help a whole bunch.
What “feminists” have never learned (and refuse to give up on) is that nobody likes a guilt-tripper. And you can’t legislate erections.

Her green belt is not frightening enough, she wears too much eye make-up, and she still seems kinda’ skinny to me, but okay, I’m game.

gryphon202 on February 21, 2009 at 2:14 PM
Her message is a bridge between. Evidenced from her first video, she’s trying to challenge the preconceptions about effective use of $’s, etc. Anyway, “back” means return[ed] to, so it’s implied.
I get your point, though.
Spirit of 1776 on February 21, 2009 at 2:14 PM

Bob Schieffer kept up the social security line of attack. When Michelle said payroll taxes with-held, which is inclusive of FICA tax, but usually refers only the little box which says “fed tax withheld”,
she needed to think on her feet a little quicker and point out that distinction, and throw his whole line of attack off.
That said, she did a pretty good job, and I’m sure it won’t be her last network appearance.
OneEyedJack on February 21, 2009 at 2:25 PM
Maybe it’s me, but Schieffer seems quite condescending, almost as if he’s doing a favor by giving this pretty young thing some airtime.
rplat nails it … Wonderboy could care less about the economy. While many of us have ideas that would benefit the country, we need to remember that’s not his goal (no matter what he says out loud). We assume that politicians make decisions for the betterment of the people and the nation, but that’s naive. For the libs, it’s all about power, and about keeping the plebes dependent. His race to create a ginormous nanny state is intentional.

She’s not all that bright, but Schieffer is even less so. Good God, he doesn’t see that financing an $800 billion shortfall in payroll tax and financing an $800 billion shortfall in new spending get financed in exactly the same way? and that regardless of which shortfall you finance by borrowing, it’s still fully funded?
And then, OMFG, “They get something for nothing???” You absolutely, completely brainless freaking moron, IT’S THEIR F*CKING MONEY!!!!!!!! They WORKED for it!!! If they get to keep it, that’s not getting something for nothing, that’s getting to keep what’s theirs that they worked hard to obtain. Jimminy freakin’ Christmas!
Seriously, we need a good theory to explain what happens to liberals’ brains. Schieffer is surely intelligent enough to see these things immediately, but he genuinely doesn’t. Why doesn’t he?

Withholding taxes do not “pay for” Social Security and Medicare. Those receipts go into general revenue. There is no “lock-box”. What “pays” for SS and Medicare are IOU’s. The $’s are fungible.
Ms. Muccio missed the low hanging fruit argument that a $ earned, taxed, collected, and transferred back into the economy is MUCH less efficient/stimulative than a $ never taxed to begin with.

Doesn’t Bob have a clue about the fact that what is paid in Social Security taxes doesn’t go into an Al Gore conceptual lock-box, but is used just like any other funds the government
collectsconfiscates to spend on anything and everything it can? He’s old enough to remember when LBJ combined Social Security tax receipts with the rest of the budget and tax receipts to gloss over how much federal spending overwhelms even what is collected today. It’s all fungible, Bob, and you’re dishonest because you know it, or you’re ill informed. Sure glad he was one of the debate moderators…churchill995 on February 21, 2009 at 2:45 PM
