White House spokesman to Santelli: You don’t know what you’re talking about
posted at 3:35 pm on February 20, 2009 by Allahpundit
I’m going to put him down as a “no” on attending the Tea Party. Stick with it, as it gets snottier as he goes along.
Think Santelli will fire back on Monday? Watch the clip of him below, jacked up on this morning’s Today Show. This ain’t over.
Update: A good point from HuffPo: Why would Gibbs single out Santelli for a reply when conservative pundits have spent weeks dumping on the stimulus? Maybe it’s because of the huge play Drudge gave the story yesterday — or maybe it’s because Obama benefits from having derivatives traders seen as the face of the opposition on this issue.

It’s a curious strategy.

Pure populist rhetoric and false logic coming from the White House. Luckily for them, most American’s have been indoctrinated via public schools and are incapable of understanding this.

I can hardly wait for the White House to start citing the View in its reports to show support for its legislation.
They’re trying to control the message instead of dealing with the problem at hand.
Which is an ironic situation because its the exact opposite problem that Bush had…

Gee, what experience do Gibbs, Obama or the rest of this clown act administration, have with any business or enterprise that actually exists to make money?
I mean besides Obama’s drug dealing, that is.
We can’t base an economy on suing people, peddling drugs, expanding the bureaucracy, bribes, payoffs and Obama’s passion for playing Robin Hood.
At some point, somebody in America is going to actually have to produce something someone wants to pay for.
It doesn’t seem that the egg heads in DC understand that simple fact.

Gibbs only addressed one of the plan’s three parts. The part where people with good credit and income can refi to 105% of the value of there house. He went on to say “how is that helping the irresponsible?”.
The part of the plan Santelli and the rest of us take issue with is the part that addresses people in distress. Where they and the bank cram down the value so they are no longer upside down. This administration expects the taxpayer to eat that cram down instead of the banks and homeowner. That cram down is the point of contention and Gibbs knows it. A dishonest retort in my opinion.
The third part of the plan is to allow judges to change mortgage terms. If this happens, there won’t be a single investor in the world that buys mortgage paper again.

hicsuget on February 20, 2009 at 3:52 PM
“It will help millions of people, many of whom he knows.”
Said with such a condescending tone. Gawd. Gibbs is truly horrible. And what is the deal with the reporter demeaning Santelli as a “ranter” and giggling along with Gibbs’ stupid jokes about him. It’s not like Santelli is from Fox.
LASue on February 20, 2009 at 3:53 PM
What’s funny is that everyone is cheering Santelli, but listen to him. He’s actually arguing against this from further on the left – saying that Obama should be helping “everyone” not just a few people. So he’s just upset that some people are getting something and some people are not.
So what this is really doing is pushing the argument to the left. Where the two sides are arguing “need to do something” “need to do more than that!” rather than any sort of free market solution.

They’re going after him because Santelli is talking about paying for others mortgages–he’s not talking anything that’s financially complex. That’s a very concrete rally that brings wasteful government spending literally home for many.
That’s what the Dems do. They take some topic and boil it down to a slogan. Santelli hit on one naturally without contrivance and the WH sees the danger.
It really doesn’t matter that he’s a trader. He gave a voice to what many are thinking.
Santelli also hit on the right topic at the right time. Anger has been building the last few weeks over the WH and Congress wasting money on their political power grabs in the “stimulus” bill. He found the match to light the bonfire.

Do you ever recall a President going after a private citizen? Yet this administration does it all the time. This is the latest in the string. I don’t remember the question citing Santelli. So the President’s spokesman tries to discredit or demonize Santelli instead of deal with the growing revolt against this socialism and wealth stealing.
By the way, MM has a story how ACORN has broken into a foreclosed house, saying, “It’s our house now.” We had better revolt soon before ACORN is appointed to the civil force (as strong as the military) that Obama proposed last fall.

You don’t get the Obama/Alinsky method. The reason why they picked out Santelli is because the way to win on any issue is to:
1. Personalize it.
2. Demonize/mock the one with whom you personalize the issue.
The issue then becomes obscured and part of the character of the person whom you are attacking.
They did this with Rush last month; you’ll see this over and over again in the next 4 years.
