Video: Coulter and Behar try to be civil with each other for 20 minutes
posted at 1:25 pm on February 20, 2009 by Allahpundit
It’s a qualified success, but only because Joy’s guest-hosting and had to choke down the more bilious sentiments she’d have happily barfed up if they’d been equals on a panel. The transcript’s here if you’d rather read than watch. A highlight:
BEHAR: So are you saying that if — that if George Clooney asked you out on a date, you’d say no, because he’s a big liberal?
COULTER: Correct.
BEHAR: Really?
COULTER: Yes.
BEHAR: Well, what kind of men do you like?
COULTER: I like men, i.e. conservatives. I don’t want them checking with the U.N. to get, you know, a resolution before making a move.
Exit quotation from 5:37 in: “Are you frightened or gleeful that Rush Limbaugh seems to be the head of your party these days?”

Behar, hilarious and fun-loving? The woman is a loud-mouthed shriveled up old shrew.

A post just to show support for Ann, though she might be considerate of Joy the Hut’s blood pressure which has to soar during these encounters. Imagine that explosion.

Joy is a DOPE!
Go Ann!!
Dubn8tr on February 20, 2009 at 4:44 PM
That dingbat Behar didn’t even understand why Coulter said Walters was reading her book like Mein Kampf. The fact that Walters is Jewish only underscores it. She read from the book as if she was totally disgusted with having to read it. Duh. Just like a Jewish person might feel reading Mein Kampf. Man I can’t believe liberals are so stupid.

Ann should have her own Firing Line type debate show
Delta Tango on February 20, 2009 at 4:51 PM
That was rich! I love Ann. My 17 year old daughter turned me on to her. Her book is beautiful! Goooo Ann, Joy: you go to he**. Idiot
MooreMom on February 20, 2009 at 4:53 PM
While I don’t always like the things she says, without Coulter, I wouldn’t give a damn about politics, other than voting every four years. Too few others on our side even pretend like they actually care, and to read her tearing into liberals was exactly what I needed when I first found her book in Barnes & Nobles.
“How to Talk to a Liberal (If You Must)”? I remember seeing that and wondering if it was real. That’s how they write about us. I’d never dreamed someone would throw it back at them.
Since then, I don’t need her as much, but she’s still refreshing. This interview was no exception. Only die hard Behar fans can see this as anything but her being trounced by Coulter. I’m glad they were civil, otherwise some of Coulter’s better points would have been missed.
Esthier on February 20, 2009 at 4:55 PM
Yes, only almost no one knows that. I don’t even blame them. I mean, they didn’t do anything in those two years but blame Republicans.
Esthier on February 20, 2009 at 4:56 PM
Ann is so fun to watch. I don’t think Joy knew what she was talking about in any of her answers, not even when she was putting the words in Ann’s mouth! Some good laughs there!
liv2race on February 20, 2009 at 5:01 PM
If it’s too painful to watch, I recommend reading the Newsbusters transcript which in just the Coulter-Behard segment so there’s less to slog through.
I thoroughly enjoyed every word of it.

Brayhard seemed to have small dog syndrome… they always make the most noise to make others think they’re somebody… Coulter pulled so verbal Matrix-like moves on the old battle-axe….
CynicalOptimist on February 20, 2009 at 5:08 PM
Ann missed a couple of golden opportunites… the GOP did, in fact, warn that the housing crisis would happen… they held hearings and tried to pass reforms (which were blocked by the Dems). She also didn’t handle the deficit discussion as deftly as she might have. She should have asked for specifics on the “extreme right-winger” charge. Saying “he’s popular” is not a strong response.
Behar is such a lightweight and Ann can do better.

I caught this purely by accident last night (past my bedtime). I HAD to watch. It is an absolute amazement that Ann Coulter managed to get through questions like “so why is it that conservative women have better orgasms than liberal women?” without just rolling her eyes. This is someone’s idea of an interview question? Behar is probably one of the most tasteless women I’ve ever seen. Ann took it all with dignity. I told my husband, “See, the conservative is much smarter… and cuter.”
Gulfcoastconservative on February 20, 2009 at 5:46 PM
Did we learn nothing from that woman who was living with a 200 lb chimp?
People who hate Coulter miss an important point. She has valid points and doesn’t back down or even pretend that the other side has “legitimate” alternative views that need to be fully discussed and considered.
highhopes on February 20, 2009 at 5:55 PM
Behar was so out of her league – outwitted, outsmarted, outhumored – she needs to stick to interviewing liberal dopes like Ashley Judd.
Coulter is the best.
CarolynM on February 20, 2009 at 5:55 PM
Huh?!?!??? She is a comedian?
Now *that’s* funny.
OmahaConservative on February 20, 2009 at 5:58 PM
I noticed that they only allowed the phone call from the person who disagreed with Coulter and tried to make it sound like most of the E-mails were negative. I was almost waiting to see after the commercial break if anyone had a black eye or hairs out of place. Joy looked like she just swallowed a bad batch of peanuts.

I just saw Keyes speak … I am starting to think Keyes and Coulter are the same person, I don’t think I have ever seen them in the same room.

The very fact that Behar asked Ann if she didn’t feel…”guilty” for bringing up Mein Kamph in the presence of a Jew (mind you one that didn’t spend a day in Auswitz), is exactly what Coulter’s book was about. VICTIMS OF NOTHING!!!!

B26354: ann must be strong to have to endure a “so called interview” with someone who has absolutely no understanding of anything financial or political. Behar spent her time worrying about whether or not Coulter would date George Clooney or conservative vs liberal orgasms. Real important and up to the minute stuff.
Gulfcoastconservative on February 20, 2009 at 7:06 PM
Just a thought in re the “Are liberal males attractive?” issue…
Have any of you ever had the misfortune to get hooked up with a liberal woman? For those of you to whom this is just an intellectual exercise, picture the whiny “It’s all about me you have to understand I’m a victim what about the poor little brown babies in (pick a third world country)I’m too sensitive to live etcetcetc” attitude…
And then try to imagine that in a bedroom.
Thank God for Conservative (i.e. Adult) women.

I love strong people. Wimpy, whinny, overly analytical liberals drive me to eat pie…. or something else gooey. Joy would have me locking myself in the garage with the tools and some ice-cream … Lots of ice-cream. Ann reminds me a bit of a cute little prison guard a dated 10 years ago (nothing like finding a gun in a woman’s bra to make the night interesting)… Her credo on life… “I got this!”

I know how you feel, I never gave a rat’s ass about politics before 9/11/01. Now that I know more than the average Hollyweirdo, it sickens me that I ever cared about their opinions. Now, they seem like small, close-minded children with nothing better to do than poo-poo the rest of us and try to glorify living as gluttons. My list of “unwatchables” has grown exponentially since then. Before 9/11, my list was… Woody Allen movies. Now? Well, the list is mighty long, but Woody is waaaaaaaaaaay down at the bottom.

Since I’m not a lesbian, I can’t sympathise with the liberal woman thing, but let me tell you: liberal men are awful. I’ve been told that I have “hang-ups” because I don’t sleep around, and that I’m “internalising oppression” because I wouldn’t have an abortion if pregnant. They use such strange euphemisms for “having the basic self-respect to not let a turd like you anywhere near my gene pool.”

They’re really scraping the bottom of the barrel letting Joy Blowhard guest host.

Coulter is very smart, & she’s right 95% of the time…I just wish she wasn’t so confrontational & abrasive.
But then she probably wouldn’t sell as many books.
jgapinoy on February 20, 2009 at 10:15 PM
I don’t think I judged you. I offered simple assessments based on your remarks. My jabs were plainly stated. Your imagined sisterhood of the traveling hoo-ha with Ann Coulter provided a great laugh.
You say you don’t perceive yourself to be smarter than anyone else. That’s odd since you saw fit to insult your ex’s intelligence. I hope that was cathartic.
You are correct about one thing Dear. I can be a prick. I don’t hide that. If you feel attacked, please pardon my honesty. If you’d rather I hear lies, you are welcome to ignore my comments.
Your assumptions bespeak your confusion. I am not lib or a Democrat. The widening divide between conservatives and Republicans of late makes it difficult to say exactly where I fall. But I consider myself a hawk on defense issues, a strict constitutionalist on issues of liberty. That often causes conflicts with my personally right-leaning views on social issues.
Basically, Lower my taxes. Leave me, my family, my property and my guns alone. I believe kids need a mom and a dad. I believe marriage requires a man and a woman. I believe you can call me anything you damn well please. I believe killers should be killed. I believe the American Dream is the World’s dream and that America is manifestation of God’s good graces and Man’s diligent work.
Anywho, back to your diary Bridget Jones. I’m off to a show.

My first impression of Ann came with her interview faux pas teasing a Jew for not accepting the concept of Catholic supremacy. Dumb bad taste.
But since then, I have really come to appreciate Coulter’s tenacity to hold her own regardless of the odds. She is one smart, tough cookie.

Wish Ann & Hannity Would
Mention that Republicans have several plans to end the recession. People take The One’s word that the right wants to do nothing. Surprise! He is lying.
The latest lefty link? Iraq and deficits. Have figures ready on the deficits and how the world has changed due to the Iraq war. And what a mess the country was before we went in to help. And a threat to others. The left is still upset that we didn’t lose.
Blaming investors for the mortgage meltdown is like blaming stockholders of firms grabbing income from the porkulus for the depression that is coming our way. Dodd, Fwank and even The One pushed the underwriting standards to the breaking point. And they want to blame investors? I don’t get it. Just more Democratic dissembling.

elifino on February 21, 2009 at 9:41 AM
Ann Coulter is right most of the time and is one of the few who takes the fight to Liberals who twist the Truth to make a trap for Fools. Confrontation and Abrasiveness is what you seem like when you are trying to correct stupid people who refuse to give up immoral or inaccurate points of view and continue to make public policy using those incorrect basic assumptions. I can make a ham sandwich if you give me the proper ingredients, but it’s damn hard to make a ham sandwich is all you ever get is turkey to make it with.
Liberals ask their questions based on false premises and then make public policy the same way. Unless you challenge their positions with actual facts and use logic to arrive at the correct answer instead of feelings about how the world should work, then we will always be subject to stupid laws and even more evil enforcement of those unjust laws.
The Soviet gulags killed millions of people not because they intended to exterminate specific ethnic groups (although in some cases they did), but because it was a huge bureaucracy that didn’t care about individual rights and actual facts to base their policies on. They would send 25,000 people to Siberia to start a new colony and harvest Russia’s resources…. and not give them the tools to build shelter before winter set in and killed them all. “Here, set up house on this island in the middle of a river, and we’ll send you tools and food in 6 months”.
Liberals make massive public policy in exactly this way, without understanding the basic needs and processes that the world operates by. Just snap your fingers and the government will fix things for you. You don’t have to do anything! Just stick out your hand!
This is what makes them fools and leads to a single stimulus bill which spends more than 3 Defense Departments worth of our money on thin air that will wind up in the pockets of a government bureaucracy.

This was an epic mismatch. Behar is at the intellectual low end of a movement which is based in fantasy and ignorance, and Coulter is at the high end of a group which uses bloodless logic as a fighting weapon.
There is blood and chunks of Joy Behar’s fat ass all over the studio.

Pushing the envelope to make a point is a tactic that perhaps must be employed when in argument with the likes of a lunatic like Joy Behar who can only vaguely understand anything and requires black and white in order to comprehend distinctions.
I can appreciate Coulter’s generalization that unwed teenage mothers should provide their child with a two-parent home, even if that means giving the child to another family for a loving and secure adoption, allowing the child all that life and love have to offer.
HOWEVER, Bristol Palin’s baby has an uncle his own age to grow up with, and grandparents who surrogate as parents with all the love in the world for Bristol’s child as with her, their own. It would be gross to toss Bristol’s baby out with Coulter’s bath water.

Yes, well, that’s the point. Behar misquoted Ann over and over again and treated it as scoring points; she is too dumb–by training–to realize that she’s been whupped, spindled, folded and mutilated. And it is for that reason that other Libs, products of the same training, are immune to logic and reason of any kind.
They’ve been trained in an interlocking worldview; any assault at one point leads to a tactical withdrawl from the point followed by the assertion of another misstatement, false attribution of intention, or outright lie (which they may actually believe, having been fed it with their mother’s milk by the MSM and their teachers).
I don’t like the ripsaw edge on Coulter’s sword, but there’s no doubt that she is an intrepid soldier in the war of ideas. She has marched into the lion’s den and taken the worst The Beast can deliver. Anyone conservative who can walk onto the soundstage of The View and give Whoopie’s Wackos free potshots while standing her ground has more cohones than 99% of our politicians–male or female.
