Chris Matthews to Santelli: So, who’d you vote for?
posted at 6:35 pm on February 20, 2009 by Allahpundit
Two clips, one for dinner and one for dessert. Start from the beginning for his reply to Gibbs or skip ahead to 3:53 for his unsurprising answer to Matthews. Evidently Chris and The One are on a first-name basis now. Imagine if, say, Brit Hume had been in the habit of referring to Bush as “George.”
As for the second clip, I figure Santelli’s about three days away from a full-blown Howard Beale meltdown at this point. The more attention he gets, the more irascible he becomes, so let’s keep giving it to him. Exit question: Was Brewer being rude? Insofar as she’s hinting that Eric the trader is some kind of media whore, I’m going with yes.

Ummm…yeah wench..that’s rude. To insinuate that god forbid, Eric might not be popular because of his beliefs and he shouldn’t speak his mind is not just rude it’s downright weak. It shows her as a spineless media groupie.

Santelli is Scrooge now for wanting people who work hard to be able to keep the fruits of their labor? WTF? This is the entitlement culture at its finest and why we should have NEVER gone down this road. Leave charity to the churches. They do it better. And I also want to know about the MSNBC’s 401 K’s. They were suddenly out of time. Are they doing better than the rest of us, or just don’t want to comment?

Chris was out raising money for the Boy Scouts..and working in a soup kitchen…and helping old ladies to cross the street. He wiped the sweat off his brow and got back just in time to climb back on the Obama Express.
Some one earlier mentioned Kathleen Parker eyeballing Family Guy Gibb’s job…
I’ll see yer Fair Weather Hag and raise you one Chris Mathews…

I’m glad that Rick is speaking up. I almost have a reason to watch MSNBC now. I’d like to say he should jump ship and go to Fox but he might be the only conservative exposure that the people that migrate to that channel get.

Sarah, Joe, Rick, Anchor Lady in Florida and the body count grows, maybe Steffy will have some sad music over the floating faces of these former Americans on his Sunday morning gabfest.
JohnBissell on February 20, 2009 at 6:55 PM
They’re going into defensive mode over The One.
The floor incident was an embarrassment to the administration. Millions of Americans watched as a CNBC business analyst ripped the plan and the traders on the floor — people in the financial industry on a daily basis — cheered him on and made sense. Which is why you saw the Press Secretary for the President out there slamming it. That’s not normal.
Now they’re going to pull another Joe the Plumber. “Does that guy get a fame thrill out of this? Is he just a media whore?” They’ll do what it takes to go on the offense.
amerpundit on February 20, 2009 at 6:56 PM

Santelli should not have told Matthews who he vote for. Now he’s tagged as a Republican naysayer and the MSM can sweep him away as insignificant. I feel for the guy – he’s not a political reporter and he was just trying to be honest. He is not familiar with the ways of spin and artful rhetoric. God bless him!
rockmom on February 20, 2009 at 6:59 PM

If I hear one more person accuse me or anyone else of not caring, being mean or not wanting what’s best for America because I/we are against all these bailouts and “stimulus” packages I may have to choke someone.
My/Our views are very legitimate, moral and indeed Patriotic IMO and to have them called something else like so many Obamabots call them is about as insulting as can be.
Seriously, I’m about to lose it.

Where were Williams, Lauer, Matthews and the rest of the NBCtards when their house lunatic went postal every night with his anti Bush screeds?
kevinkristy on February 20, 2009 at 7:01 PM
I think the Democrats are in a full blown defensive posture.
It is time to step up the attacks, the demonstrations against Porkulus, Mortgulus, and socialism in general.
People are angry. A LOT of people are angry. Even many who voted for Obama are angry. These people are now questioning their votes – and they realize the media had helped form their opinions about the candidates. Now they feel betrayed.
We need to tap into that sentiment NOW. Grab a sign and go stand on a busy street corner if you can’t find a larger protest. I think that can actually be a more enjoyable protest – and you don’t have to defend the sign of the guy 3 feet away from you.
Spread the word of unrest. Encourage others to stand up and have their voicse heard.

I’ll watch the vids in a few minutes.
But I’m going to tell you guys this. Traders are JTP. We are based in reality, down in the pits, working with facts and figures. Sounds pretty dull, eh?
We get it, though, and that’s what Santelli and the boys were saying yesterday. Ain’t no “pretty boys” there.
Whatever anyone thinks about traders the facts are simple. If there are no buyers, short the market. Cover, and if there aren’t any buyers, short it again. That’s what you’re seeing.
The markets really tell it all despite what the metro-sexual, beta males in DC tell ya. They write dissertations. We make money.
Cody1991 on February 20, 2009 at 7:05 PM
Despite what Rick just called him, Eric is not a “trader” – nor are the rest of the guys in that shot. They are clerks. They do not make hundreds of thousands in bonuses. From my experience at the NYSE, the guys there lived in modest homes on Staten Island and Brooklyn and many of them didn’t go to college and worked their way up from a page (gopher) – Dick Grasso went this route. They are – much more so than Robert Gibbs or Chris Matthews – quintessentially main street Americans.
The brokers are the ones executing the trade and make more than the clerks, but the traders are the ones sitting on the Goldman Sachs trading desk in Chicago or New York. I don’t expect Gibbs or Obama to actually understand Wall Street – there’s no need when you can still scapegoat them and treat them as a monolithic, evil entity without knowing the first thing of how they operate.
datroy on February 20, 2009 at 7:06 PM
The guy afer Santelli “Obama said…we’re all in it, together”. Yep, synergy is when we all go under, together. That’s where our country is headed.
The chick is incredibly dim. Best was the black reporter; having contributed zero “hey…we have to go”…chickened out…over.
I wonder if they see themselves.
Entelechy on February 20, 2009 at 7:06 PM
I seem to recall an incident a few years ago when Imus, referring to her, um, “looks” caused her to storm off the set, almost in tears. Heh, deservedly so. She is a liberal stooge with zero journalistic credibility. Putting her slightly ahead of Brian Williams.

Did you ever notice that during Bush’s 8 years, he never responded to attacks from Olbermann or Matthews. Yet in the last two weeks, Obama or his spokesman has made comments about Hannity, Limbaugh, and now Santelli?
Me thinks “The Great One” has a thin skin. Either that, or like the Great Oz, doesn’t want anyone looking behind the curtain.

This one thinks Barry and the boys are sinking faster than they think or any of you think.
This POTUS is a full-blown buffoon. He couldn’t make it in the private sector (at least he got that right) and moved to Chi-town politics. Emil Jones gave him his big push.
What is the first bill with Barry’s name on it? Porkulus Spectacular!!
Let’s see what happens in the next couple of months. The rest of the world is looking to the US to lead them out of this economic trough, but Barry and the boys aren’t giving them much hope. These are truly historic times. The Brits and French are getting nervous. This should be fun because Barry might actually force the euroweenies to go first in leading the way.
In a perverse way, I’m beginning to enjoy president shuck-and-jive.
Cody1991 on February 20, 2009 at 7:18 PM
In light of Matthews’ admitting that his job is to make sure that Barack succeeds, it’s of no surprise that he will attack any and everyone he perceives as an Obama critic. Next time he gets peevish and asks a critic “who’d you vote for?” that person should say, “That’s none of your damned business, Christopher.”

The best part about Rick Santelli going off is he is a G.E. employee.

NO. YOU. DON’T !!!
Why? Because Rick Santelli (reporting from the Chicago Board of Trade) is one of the irascible, mostly capitalist but completely straight shootin’ (Cramer only does cameos) bunch on:
Their questioning can put the finest FoxNews interrogators to shame ~ SHAME I tell you! I’ve gotten my husband hooked. It’s entertaining, informative and educational. And they often break stories well before the “news” gets them, for example Charlie Gasparino’s exposing of John Thain. They are the sturm to the Olbermann Republic of Broadcasting’s drang. I use them as source material constantly.
I ::heart:: them.
So, no. Still no reason to watch MSNBC. At. All.

DrStock on February 20, 2009 at 7:59 PM
Agreed.
Repurblican on February 20, 2009 at 7:59 PM
I love it when liberals walk out this line as if it is proof that the person’s point of view is somehow not valid.
But the fact that they have their lips pressed to Obama’s a$$ and voted for him somehow does not make them less credible.
Every person on that trading floor was agreeing with Santelli so are we to assume everyone of them voted for McCain.
How pathetic and lame.
Typical liberal spin.
Liberals can try to diminish Santelli all they want but he made a huge impact with that 4 1/2 minute segment and stories like this back it up:
Liz Peek: Stock Market Gives Obama’s First Month An ‘F’
Editor’s Note: Liz Peek is a financial columnist and the author of wOw’s Wall Street Weekly and SHEconomics.
http://www.wowowow.com/print/214454
But I guess her opinion does not matter until we find out who she voted for.
Our “Salesman and Chief” is showing his lack of experience and leadership in a big way and the Stock Market, which is based on future speculation, has no confidence in what it is seeing and hearing.
