Most hated man on the Internet basically living like a hunted animal
posted at 9:50 pm on February 19, 2009 by Allahpundit
Yeah, this turd again. Ever since his episode of “Wife Swap” aired, he’s become persona non grata … everywhere. Just watch the video. 24-hour security, resignations from two nonprofits, and now even his business is in jeopardy. Question: Are we sure this dude wasn’t just playing a part?
A longtime family friend of the Fowlers, who attended the family’s TV viewing party Jan. 30, said Fowler had prepared friends for his appearance by telling them that he’d hammed it up for the cameras and followed the producer’s directions to be confrontational…
“He was definitely playing a character,” the friend said. “He just carried a bad choice too far.”
The backlash toward Fowler and his family has ended some promising business relationships, the friend said, leaving the family “overwhelmed and a little stunned by all of this.”
“I’m sure they’re going to have a tough time putting things back together just to get back to where things were,” the friend said. “I think Stephen wishes there were a way to repair this more thoroughly.”
The deeper question, I guess, is whether hamming it up should excuse his overweening douchebaggery towards the woman he was paired with. Verdict: Yes. Back off, Kelly! Leave Fowler alone!

I certainly have. Many are the times I’ve heard shock over the prospect that some of my political thoughts might be (gasp!) “Republican.” And I had one job at which the nightmare employee drove a Prius baring the bumper sticker of the unrealized racial superticket “Obama/Richardson.” Now which does that say to you: “open minded” or “control freak”?
I suppose it depends what you mean by shunning. A lack of party invites? Sure, that’s fine for a while; after all, he did shun his own guest (and made his children do the same, children who, I might add, likely can’t distinguish between what the producers egged him on to do and what he did of his own accord). But I’m pretty sure that’s the least of this fellow’s problems at this point.

Thanks for proving the point that this was not an act but the true ignorant, pompous actions of the typical liberal.

Is some guy’s silly act on a reality show enough to get you to fly into a rage and incite physical violence? If so, his comments must have really hit home. Clearly, on some level, you agree with some of them.
Sign of the Dollar on February 20, 2009 at 2:04 AM
Who?
What?
How can people stand to watch that crap?
That these shows celebrating the stupidest, most obnoxious and selfish people in the world can be successful at drawing sponsors and audiences says more about the low standards, lack of discerning taste and vapididity of their own lives than does electing the current crop of marxists to rule them.
LegendHasIt on February 20, 2009 at 2:31 AM
Ostensibly, it is “reality” television.
It is supposed to be a slice of “reality” entertainment, and it is presented as such.
He presented himself as such a mental giant on that “reality” show, and he did it willingly with a flourish of cruelty.
It seems he is actually a mental midget with zero common sense. Did he think he was going to be a hero to the audience?
Now he reaps the “reality” of what happens to loathsome, pompous little turds when they appear on television from coast to coast. Karma. She’s a bitch.
The only person(s) I feel the least bit sorry for are his children.
FlatFoot on February 20, 2009 at 3:27 AM
If you count what that liberal puke is as the epitome of human goodness, then I can see why that guy is your hero.
Give the world less educated decent people and the world will be a better place. Godless people are immune to the concept of true kindness and the country is full of them. They are called “liberals”.

That is the arrogance of the entire left these days

Since when is “hamming it up” permission to treat another human being with utter cruelty?
DrMagnolias on February 20, 2009 at 6:45 AM
There is never a good reason to be cruel in actuality. Was this a drama? My grandmother used to think the soap operas were real, like some of you folks think this is. Holy Hannah!
This was a TV SHOW, not real. hello? hello? The woman was an actress too. Fowler is getting hammered for being a good ACTOR?
One more time. IT WAS A TV SHOW.

I had never heard of this particular douchebag until Allahpundit starting making posts about him. I find it amusing that AP is now getting critical of people reacting to this jerk when AP himself is one of the contributing factors to this guy’s notoriety.

You must not have been to SF or know anyone from that city because my verdict is it was not an act but just one of many of the true SF citizens expressing the real ideas and values they have there now. Everything he said on that show is something I have heard from one person or another in that city.
JeffinSac on February 20, 2009 at 7:22 AM
Chances are this episode was taped before the election. Someone I knew from my reporting days was on the show last year (the family that owned the German inn trading with the family from New Jersey whose older son was a bodybuilder), and for at least a year she was hinting to me about the things that went on during the taping of her episode that she couldn’t go on the record with me about until it was close to the air date.
I can attest to some amount of editing to heighten the drama (her show made her look kind of like a “harpy” at points, and from reading the account in another paper after her viewing party at the inn, when the husband from the other family called her the “B” word, she proudly proclaimed to the entire crowd, “I’m a b****!”), but it can’t hide what you say to another human being. What Fowler did was detestable to this poor woman, and he should be scrutinized.
ScoopPC11 on February 20, 2009 at 7:28 AM
Talk about an attempt to put the genie back in the bottle… That guy doesn’t deserve death threats, but he should face social and professional consequences for his poor behavior, and he actually is. What surprises me is that the San Francisco people are reacting so harshly to him. But I guess when you use your children as props, like he did, you cross a line even those weirdos up in SFO can’t accept.

This is the perfect example of the liberal elitist. He represents so well not just the hypocrisy of the liberal,, but he represents the danger and destruction liberals pose on society.
He wears a shirt boldly proclaiming he is a proud Tree Hugger while his mouth spews hatred for his “lower class” neighbor.
A tree he can hug. A human of the “lower class” he will crush.
He mocks her and her family, he spits on them, verbally tears her apart in front of his own children. He returns her attempts at kindness with verbal violence. And in the next breath states she is the dangerous one,, her hobbies are militaristic and suggests to her husband his children might be capable of murder!
This is who libs are. Revealed so well for the world to see.
Tree and dirt do not pose a threat to his delusions. He is free to profess love for them. His wife, his children are under his control and are so far, agreeing and compliant with his world view and delusions. They fit in. God help them when they don’t. That is the truth of the matter!

You know, that show is basically about giving people a chance to see what it’s like to live in a completely different environment than their own. It happens in every episode. This guy took it to a whole new level with his arrogance and cruel remarks. He did it on national TV and should have been prepared for an outcry, because women don’t like to see other women humiliated by a pompous tool. However, a little controversy over it was all the tool deserved i.e. “did you SEE what that guy did?” End of story, leave the guy alone.

What we’re seeing is not just a backlash against the *man*, we’re seeing him serve as the whipping boy personification of an attitude and a worldview. I suspect many San Franciscans are more angry at him for playing the part too well and revealing the true attitudes they normally hide behind platitudes in mixed company.
I have moved from MO to CA (silicon valley) to central VA (Shenandoah valley, much nicer!) in the last 10 years. In VA I brought a talented person I knew from CA in for an interview. He was astounded at all of the “W” bumper stickers, gun racks and trucks. He commented “oh, ok so this is where all of those people live” and I replied “No, ____, beyond the city limits of SF is where *those* people live”. He didn’t get it and I ended up not making the hire because more or less everyone else in the company refused to work with him talented or not.
Millions of these turds are floating to the top of the cesspool that US culture has become since the 60s.
Silky was right about 1 thing, there are 2 Americas but he only had half the story with economics. There are squatter gutter punks in SF with Fowler’s attitude too. Every outcome I can imagine of this deepening division makes me very nervous for the disease of which Fowlers His public flogging is merely a symptom.

At first I was wondering why AP was saying that since the guys was apparently “hamming it up” that she should back off. Now I think I know why.
When he (and certain other posters) see this guy they see someone who acts just like their hero Dawkins and others like him. They see themselves.
Here’s some proof to what I’m referring to.
DethMetalCookieMonst on February 20, 2009 at 8:42 AM
Everything besides the death threats is fair play and a direct consequence of Major Dimwit’s actions. He isn’t even being attacked for his religion or lifestyle, but for doing something really bad while being watched by a really really large audience.

That way he will understand that he is a worthless prick.

Is it just me or are some of the comments on here taking on a decidedly liberal (read:snobbish elitist) tone? The fact that liberals are furious over our refusal to allow them to be the ruling elite over us poor, uneducated, illiterate, ignorant slobs is well established.
Don’t sit in judgment of anyone’s way of life. An assertion that if someone attends the church of their own choice, makes them “bible-thumpers” or ignorant in some fashion, only demonstrates your own bigotry and intolerance.
It never ceases to amaze me that people who have never lived in the countryside are so eager to denounce anyone who does as “dumb, rednecks, inbreds, bumpkins, crackers, uncultured, unsophisticated, backwards, etc., etc., ad endless frigging nauseum”.
I would love for someone to explain, really explain, the
perversepervasive, innate need of liberals to attack anything with which they do not agree or understand, or to make ad hominem attacks on people who dare to disagree with them. Oh, and then tell me why they love the “doom and gloom” outlook on life. Seriously. I want to know what drives them to do what they do. Or is this like asking for someone to explain illogical, self-destructive behavior? Can anyone help me on this?

Death threats aside, I am quite pleased that Mr. Fowler is enjoying an object lesson in “as ye sow, so also shall ye reap.”

Using the above logic no one should be at all concerned about the negative backlash the guy is experiencing. His TRUTH to be learned is that many people will think you are a complete A$$ when you are unbelievably cruel to another person.
Just as he judged that woman and found her education inadequate – many people have judged him and found his basic humanity inadequate. However lack of education can be corrected – his failings are who his is.

Are you saying Obama was born in Kenya? Or are you implying that having a Kenyan father is worthy of your scorn? Many Americans have fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters born outside of the US.

Biggest red meat of the year. Who gives a damn if Fowler was hamming it up? He tore that poor MO woman apart. Are the true tears of a good woman meaningless. And beyond that it is clear that Stephen Fowler wasn’t playing a character. Your children don’t become mindless robots overnight simply because you tell them to act that way. We see story after story of the hate-filled elitist left exactly like this turd and you want to know if someone like that could actually exist. That’s like a European Jew in 1930′s saying, “Oh, those Nazis can’t really hate us that much.” Stephen Fowler is the embodiment of the San Francisco crowd. This is the place that elects Nancy Pelosi remember? This Fowler-turd deserves everything he gets. He deserves to be tarred and feathered. I’m tired of America Haters.
chicagojedi on February 20, 2009 at 11:56 AM
Its BS that Fowler says now that he was just playing along. If that were true, his wife would have said so in her blog post. Instead, she said she was appalled and that her husband was getting “professional” help. Also, if it were all just a scam, the Missouri Mom he abused would say so. She isn’t rushing to his defense. Tells you all you need to know.

The producers made him do it? If they told him to step off a cliff, would he have done that? The man is not an actor. He’s a guy who was given a blank check to behave like a prick, and he enthusiastically cashed that check. He wrote his own script, and it came very naturally to him. No sympathy.
The producers of the show can burn, too. Cut from the same cloth. Paddy Chayefsky saw it coming.

But if anybody thinks this particular turd’s wife isn’t just as nasty has he is (just better at keeping her mouth under control on camera), um, don’t be so naive…how many times do you think she brought home stories to share around the family dinner table about all the “fatty losers” she “helped?”
