Clyburn: Opposing the stimulus is racist or something

Ah, here’s that honest, non-cowardly discussion of race we’ve been looking for.
Clyburn also had some strong comments for Gov. Mark Sanford on why he thinks he opposed the stimulus.
“The governor of Louisiana expressed opposition. Has the highest African-American population in the country. Governor of Mississippi expressed opposition. The governor of Texas, and the governor of South Carolina. These four governor’s represent states that are in the black belt. I was insulted by that,” Clyburn said. “All of this was a slap in the face of African-Americans. It had nothing to do with Governor Sanford.”…
A spokesman from the governor’s office says, “Representative Clyburn is no stranger to playing the race card, because he has no defense for the runaway spending and the deficits contained in this so-called stimulus bil that will hurt our economy. Spending money at the federal level that we do not have represents a future tax increase on all South Carolinians, regardless of their color – and in the process of doing so, he’s ripping off everyone he claims to represent.”
You’ll remember Clyburn as the guy who blamed racial tensions between Obama and Hillary during the South Carolina primary on … Mike Huckabee. Needless to say, his charge is patently false: If there’s any demographic Bobby Jindal’s obviously out to get, it’s those damned pesky Cajuns. Exit question one: What are the odds that fiscally conservative Republicans would oppose a trillion-dollar spending bill? Truly, only racism can explain their shocking stance. Exit question two: Is Clyburn suggesting that Palin’s off the hook since there are no black people in Alaska? Exit question three: Does this mean the beta-male minority in New York can accuse David Paterson of trying to harm them personally with his policy stances? Exit answer: Yes.

Thanks Obama for finally telling like it is. Or at least how it is through your liberal, tiny mind.

Real racism is serious,, and this just trivializes racism to mean almost nothing.
Libs always have to screw with the meaning of words. They always change definitions and expand them to suit their own purposes at whatever given time they need to.

The lesson of the Obama election is that using race is a winner in our politics. There’s no reason to stop with something that’s working so well for them. Expect much more of this…

As I recall, it was racist to oppose Bill Clinton, also. And “welfare reform” was a new codeword for racism. And “New Federalism.” And “a color-blind society.” And — heck, the list is so long I forget most of it….
It will ever be thus for those in the lucrative business of grievance politics.

Maybe if we elect Hussein twice we won’t be quite as racist as we are now. Because, well uhh, you know, uhhh, once was okay but twice would PROVE that we’re not a nation of racists. A little bit anyway.
Yeah. Okay. Maybe not.
Poor McCain. He twisted himself into a pretzel trying to avoid being called a racist during the campaign. And he ended up being called one anyway.
It doesn’t matter what conservatives do or say. Anything that is even remotely critical of Hussein will be branded as racist.

Clyburn is in Obama’s ear day and night. What he wants, Obama complies.
What he really wants is no one to question the handouts to his constituency that lay deep in the bowels of Porkulus.
No one in his caucus does.
FireBlogger on February 19, 2009 at 7:28 PM
That’s what I think. For years, Jesse Jackson and people like Rangel were always saying things like this. They became sort of flies buzzing in the background to me, their charges were so constant.
The last couple of years the racism charge is increasingly used–it was pulled out in amnesty and Obama pulled it out as well.
As BetseyRoss on February 19, 2009 at 7:16 PM said, it’s becoming meaningless.
It only plays on those liberals who suffer from some inward white guilt.
I’m really tired of it.

And in other news in the conservative parallel universe, President Michael Steele will be entering his 30th day in office with a successful bipartisan budget plan to reduce taxes on families and large and small business. The new tax plan caused the stock market to rally to its highest in almost 7 years. And in other news, Mr. Steele’s color has yet to brought up since first announcing his bid to run for President early last year.

One of my pastors once said, “The only thing guilt should motivate you to do is repent.”
So, if you’re racist, repent and change your ways. If you yourself, have harmed someone, make it right.
Those who play the race card don’t want repentance, they just want power or money.

Disturb the Universe on February 19, 2009 at 7:41 PM
Well, yes. Yes, indeed.
It is racist to be against any program that allows people to get a free ride on the tax payer’s dime.
That’s the stimulus in a nutshell. That’s how it was sold on the floor of both the House and the Senate.
Instead of actually looking honestly at the root causes for the financial collapse last summer, and by doing so honestly address real solutions instead of just throwing more good money after bad, we have arrived at this, a fully complaint population who view a Nanny State, dare I say socialism, as a Right.
And who gets to pay?
As Karl Marx said way back in 1875, “From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.”
coldwarrior on February 19, 2009 at 7:43 PM

Well, actually…as of just a few short hours ago, Blacks are being oppressed, and are in slavery, and “The Man [The One, The Messiah, et al.]” is indeed now not just holding them down, but worse, owns them outright.
When any segment of the population is made totally beholden to the State, dependent on the State for all their needs, that is very much slavery…outright ownership. No different today than it was in the aftermath of the Russian Revolution of 1917.

Libs do to the word racism the same thing they do to the words child abuse. There was a time we all new what child abuse meant. Today, it too, has been trivialized to mean almost nothing. Child abuse is what ever a lib says it is.
Sexual harassment is another example. We could all make a list of the words the libs use, distort and alter meanings for their own purposes. And those purposes change from day to day.
Patriotism is another very good example. We all once new what a patriot was. Under Bill Clinton, though, it was defined as supporting the President. Under Bush, Hillary redefined it as disagreeing with the President. Obama has once again changed the meaning back to supporting him. Reality and law are what ever liberals say they are from day to day. They speak not as men and women bound by definitions, rules and laws,, they speak as gods and kings. Their words are whatever they mean them to be at any given time. We are to merely to shut up and obey.

When the likes of Clyburn finish their time on earth maybe we can get serious about race relations in this country. To be honest I can’t even understand why there is any sense of guilt concerning slavery in this nation. Consider this ….when slavery was brought here we were British and were not the U.S. until 1791? slavery ended in 1865 ….74 years……I do not know the history of slavery world wide but I suggest that there are probably few nations in the history of the world that ended the practice that quickly but I can promise no nation in the history of the world paid such a price to end that practice 620,000 lives. The sad thing is that Holder is correct. Americans (or at least white Americans (you know ‘racist Americans’)) don’t talk about race because if we do we are called racists. I’m a PUMA ( I snuck in during open registration. ), we have been called racists since Iowa. At first, we were surprised but after awhile you get used to it. If Bill Clinton can become racist in the blink of an eye and Hillary Clinton can become a racist after her ‘tears are analyzed’ then none of us can escape the label.
