New AG Holder: When it comes to race, America is a “nation of cowards”
posted at 4:00 pm on February 18, 2009 by Allahpundit
So saith the first black Attorney General, appointed by the black president we cowardly Americans just elected — which, last time I checked, is one more than any European country’s ever elected — during a speech honoring America’s officially recognized Black History Month. The key bit comes about a minute in. There’s nothing shocking about this, unless it’s how pedestrian it is. It’s the same old nonsense about having an “honest” conversation on race, which typically means agreeing root and branch with the leftist position on any policy issue that touches that subject (e.g., illegal immigration) on penalty of being called a racist. The boss notes the irony of Holder uncorking this on a day when “civil rights leader” Al Sharpton is demagoging the hell out of the New York Post for an innocent cartoon, but there’s an irony even more sublime here: Obama himself did everything he could to avoid race during the campaign — aside from the occasional insinuation that McCain’s a bigot — until the Wright uproar forced his hand. He could have used his platform to push the issue front and center but he decided he’d rather get elected. Holder owes his job to that, ahem, cowardice.

The Dems screwed up the mortgage market with barney Frank and Maxine waters insisting that freddie mack and fannie mae finance deadbeats. Then they make things worse by spitting on taxpayers and wasting billions.
Now this fool holder wants to start a race baiting backlash. What next? Reparations? A back to Africa movement? Repeal the second ammendment? Amnesty?
A white man tax? God help the USA.

When I was in school in the 70′s we did learn about black history. Only we didn’t call it black history, it was just part of our American history.
Unless a persons race is important to understanding their story, such as an ex slave overcoming severe prejudice, The color of some ones skin doesn’t really matter. When I learn about some one of character who cured a disease or discovered something grand, I don’t give a rats behind how dark his or her skin was.
I guess that makes me a coward.

Man…that Mocha is starting to taste bitter isn’t it? Whatever goodwill had been afforded Obama and his administration is over, Obama and his posse really do hate this country. Take off the rose-colored glasses America and look long and hard at what is happening because the majority thought it would be cool to vote for the black guy.
Healing is over, time to IMPEACH this fool!

If this jackass were white with his intelligence and accomplishments pre-anointment, he’d be a county clerk somewhere, going nowhere, same as the jackass in the Oval Office.
How’s that for conversation, jitbag?
NoDonkey on February 18, 2009 at 6:35 PM
Face it…and this is borne out over the past almost four decades…without “race” and the insinuation of “race” and racism into every nook and cranny of America, the Dems have nothing…zip…to offer. The perpetuation of “race” enables the Dems to sell the notion that all they seek is “fairness.”
Fairness…seems that real fairness is to allow those who can, or have the gumption, or are willing to assume the real risks, to flourish by their own efforts and wiles, you know, pursue the American Dream…and reap the benefits of their efforts, and make a personal decision to share their wealth as they see fit, when they see fit, and to happily live the American Dream.
And those who choose not to exert the effort, well, they will simply have to learn to deal with being a living example to all others that if you choose victimization and “race card politics” you end up with precious little of the American Dream.
When a Dem mentions “fairness” put your hand on your wallet to make sure it is still there.

Guys like Holder, Sharpton, Jackson and the rest are the real cowards – candy-ass wimps.
They’re the guys who walk into a bar, instigate a fight and duck out the door when fists start flying. That’s what they do. Pick fights and let everyone else deal with the consequences. They end up with the money (because that’s what it’s really all about), and we have to pay.
Despicable.

In the U.S. Civil War, The Union suffered from:
110,000 killed in action
360,000 total dead
275,200 wounded
Battle casualties totaled about 140,400. Another 224,000 non combat deaths are recorded for about 364,000 Union deaths.
I thought the goal of good racial relations is for there to be nothing to talk about. Judge a man not by the color of his skin but the content of his character. People like him and Barry make my head want to explode when they talk about racial relations in this country.

Switch the focus for a moment from Holder’s unnecessarily inflammatory rhetoric to his utter incompetence as a member of the Obama administration.
These were prepared remarks.
People make mistakes speaking extemporaneously, but how politically tone-deaf does one have to be to draft a speech calling the American people “cowards” about anything? We are celebrating Black History Month with the nation’s first black president, and Holder manages to make people angry about race to no purpose – not announcing a controversial policy – just for shock value. Obamateur hour feels more and more like the Carter malaise.

The real cowards are the race baiters such as Holder, Wright, Sharpton, etc. etc, who refuse to acknowledge that America has grown beyond its racism, anyone of any color, creed ,religion, sexual bias can be anything they want, and for the most part it proves, along with the monkey in the paper, there are no longer victims in our society, just those who have a victim complex about themselves because they have small penises and low self esteems.

OK. Let’s let it all out.
Is 38% of our inmate population black because of their skin color, or because they represent a higher percentage of crime?
Is the high school drop out rate of blacks higher because of their skin color, or is there some other reason?
Is the high percentage of unwed teenage mothers higher among blacks because of white racism?
Blacks like to think they have better rhythm and are more “endowed” than whites. Is it also possible that there are differences in intelligence and drive?
Will there EVER be a day that blacks are on their own, or will they be whining about slavery throughout eternity?
I’m just trying not to be a coward. We really NEED this conversation….
Star20 on February 18, 2009 at 7:28 PM
Right. Let Holder explain why 38% of inmates are black.

As far as I’m concerned, this idiotic speech is grounds for Holder’s removal from Justice.
progressoverpeace on February 18, 2009 at 7:44 PM
In the interest of a courageous, frank and open introduction into the national conversation, I recommend a bipartisan, biracial study of the physiological differences between blacks and whites, including I.Q.’s, attitudes, education, morals and criminal histories. We need to perform due diligence to discover if there is any scientific evidence of any difference other than skin color. If there is no difference other than skin color, then I will be the first contributor to a reparations fund. If there are other differences, then I would like to see Holder lead the movement to convince blacks to shut the hell up and get a life.
That’s just an idea… for whatever it is worth..

Holder, I’m ready to talk.
Why are 80% of black babies born to unwed mothers?
Why do black men shirk the responsibility of fatherhood?
Why do black people make up most of the prison population?
Why do new Asian immigrants to America start with nothing while not speaking English, yet consistently move up the economic ladder while blacks continue to complain about their entitlements not being good enough?
I could go on Holder, but that should keep you busy about the COWARDS I have mentioned above talking about the black race. We still have a few more days left in Black Victimization Month, so have at it.

O.K. lets debate Mr.Holder ….can you explain to me why since 1975 blacks have …. according to BoJ stats …..committed 52.2 % of all murders in the U.S. but only comprise 12 – 13 % of the population ….. another question Mr.Holder you Lament the fact that on a personal level this is still a segregated society….my question to you Mr.Holder is this …do you think the fact that somewhere between 80 – 90 % of all interracial violence is black on white might be a damper on these inter personal relationships between the races ………… what do you folks think the reaction would be if in a debate on race those questions were asked or perhaps were tendered as an explanation as to why there is a reluctance among many to interact on a personal level …. an honest debate …..yea right …. my ass

Whoa, this thread became stormfront real quick.
Why do black folks make up the majority of people behind bars. Hmmm interesting question. Maybe because black people tend to be poorer and poor people who commit crime tend to go to jail more often than middle-upper class people who commit crime. Is Bernie Madoff behind bars or is he living in a lavish penthouse apartment right now. Case closed.
Why do black women have higher rates of teen pregnancy. It’s a good question, I would suspect that it has to do with the fact that the majority of teen mothers are poor. But, as I pointed out in the Palin thread, it’s OK to use teen motherhood against black women as evidence of their “inferiority” but it’s NOT OK to use it as evidence that the Palins might be a dysfunctional family. Doing so is “elitist.” What is it when you folks do it with black families?
Are you including police violence against black people because if so I think you’re numbers would be drastically different. Oh but they are acting on the side of the “law” so therefore when they kick negroes asses it’s OK. This is exactly Holder’s point.
DeathToMediaHacks on February 18, 2009 at 8:26 PM
I don’t think I have ever been against any specific race, I grew in Philly in the city, and it never seemed to matter. Mr. Obama has sure changed my mind, I am beginning to believe they want to keep racism going in this country, for whatever reason I sure don’t know. I just know I am finding it more and more difficult to like blacks every time the one or one of his cronies does something stupid like this. My mom would be so mad at me, sorry Mom..*sigh*
clinker46 on February 18, 2009 at 8:27 PM
Ooooh. Out comes the race card, yet once again.
As to the rest of your tripe, get a brain. Mississippi is as poor as New Orleans and was left without help just the same (even moreso) during Katrina, but the population there didn’t start looting and feeding off of each other (and everyone who did try to help) the minute there was no law around. I’m sure that was all whitey’s fault, too … Just trying to make NO look bad by comparison, no doubt. Moron.
progressoverpeace on February 18, 2009 at 8:38 PM
Ooh, cherry-picking specific examples to try and prove an overall point? Sounds fun!
You brought up Madoff so let’s see…there was this guy named O.J Simpson. He got away with double homicide. Turns out he’s black. “Case closed.”
Oh but he’s not one of those black people who “tend to be poorer.” Never mind…
Grayson on February 18, 2009 at 8:41 PM
DeathToMedialHacks,
Bringing up Bernie Madoff is stupid angle. I doubt blacks made up a big percentage of his clients. 99.9% of all whites wonder why he isn’t behind bars right now, as well. If it is simply a matter of race, perhaps you should blame the top guy in the White House.
Are more blacks behind bars because they are poor, or is it for other reasons? Does being poor give any person a pass to be a criminal? Vietnamese came to the U.S. poor, but are pretty well middle class. Why? Koreans come to the U.S. without being able to speak the language, but rise up, economically. Why? Hispanics do better than blacks in the U.S. Why?
What does being poor have to do with teen pregnancy? Do you have to have money to be a good parent? Do you have to be middle class and live in the burbs to not get knocked up?
Let’s review ALL of the evidence of crime. Let’s put it on the front pages of every newspaper and every network news program. Let’s highlight every instance of white police brutality on blacks and black on white crime in any major city.
Let’s REALLY examine race and see what comes to the surface. Please, Holder. Let’s really get into an honest, frank and courageous discussion on race. Please.
Star20 on February 18, 2009 at 8:41 PM
OJ is a great example. Blacks got behind him about 98% and were thrilled that he got off, though everyone knows he was guilty. The white version was Robert Blake, who most whites thought got away with murder and should be behind bars, if not executed.
progressoverpeace on February 18, 2009 at 8:48 PM

Deathto….. police violence toward blacks ………well lets see if you can figure it out ……. blacks comprise anywhere between 38 – 42 % of the prison population in any given year ….it has been as high as 44 % in the not to distant past….. 52 % of all murders …. Blacks are the perps in most of the interracial violence …this disparity continues across all categories of crime….. In Philly the last 6 – 8 police officers have been killed by …who do you think …. another reason might be they just tend to come into contact with cops more often and they have a lousy attitude and will seek a fight a lot faster than most white guys will
Aggie95 on February 18, 2009 at 8:59 PM
I’d like to ask Holder if he believes that the prison inmate population should reflect the racial demographics of the United States. If he does, would he move to reduce the black prison population from 38% to 13%? It is a good, honest question for someone who wants a courageous discussion about race…

What is up with white people being accosted in black neighborhoods? Racism!
Why aren’t drug dealers being targeted by the IRS? Because they are black? Racism!
Why are blacks thought to need assistance in matters of education, jobs, marriage relations, and abortions? RACISM!
Feel free to discuss these facts amongst yourselves, you pitiful racist Socialists.
DannoJyd on February 18, 2009 at 9:11 PM
Hmmm it took one black president, one angry preacher and an attorney general to get your to start hating all black people in all contexts? If that’s all it takes no doubt you understand why some black people might be angry at white people, considering that there’s been more than one racist Presiden/Governor/Senator/Mayor/Police chief in American history. Statements like these seem to just prove Holder’s point. Or is it only reasonable when you start to judge all black people badly because of a single statement of one attorney general vs. thinking all white people might be bad when white police officers turn dogs on marching black kids.
No, O.J. proves the point(though white folks utter glee at his current downfall speaks volumes in and of itself). Money buys justice. My argument is that African Americans general lack of poverty contributes to their disproportionate involvement with the criminal justice system as well as the fact that certain kinds of adolescent rebellion (like smoking weed) leaves suburban kids (of all races) relatively unscathed but for inner city black kids is often how they first get caught up in the “system” and never get out. And that’s because the criminal justice system is built around making sure people stay in jail and don’t get out on their feet. Yes I’m ready for THAT shitstorm of a debate, bring it on.

You’ve already demonstrated you believe that “physiologically” black people are pre-determined towards crime. It’s just another version of pseudo-science, Nazi Aryan, white supremacist crap. You’re not actually interested in a debate about the structure of society you want to look to “biology” to explain something that is a fiction of your imagination. “Race” is a cultural idea, not a biological catagory. Science has really settled the question on this.
DeathToMediaHacks on February 18, 2009 at 9:22 PM
Yeah …. and many on the left like to say the same about gender, hence the moronic laws about poeple choosing their sex. You people are really quite insane. Race is a genetic grouping more basic than ethnicity. But, you would probably say that ethnicity is also just a cultural idea, as family and everything else. Pathetic.
Hardly. You know nothing about genetics. Science has been beaten into a corner about this, since any scientist who comes out and says anything that goes against the PC orthodoxy is instantly bounced out of respectable society.
But keep making your moronic statements about stormfront.
progressoverpeace on February 18, 2009 at 9:29 PM
I wish the numbers were that good!
Look, I’ll use 13% population, but let’s agree that females are not doing most of the crime. So let’s say 7.5%. But let’s also agree that old men and babies are not shooting, raping or robbing Whites either. Also, according to DoJ, 80+% of interracial violence is Black on White. So what we have is about 4% of the population is hunting the White population, referring to them as “food”, making Rap videos glorifying Whites being murdered in their homes (Ice-T and others).

I can tell Holder is exactly what we can expect from someone who came through the civil rights farm league. His point is what we are cowards for congregating with people we have more in common with? It is called freedom of association I think? Back on the point of people we have more in common with the Holder/civil rights crowd much more than any group of people tells us we don’t understand the black experience. Fair enough but that implies they are probably more comfortable hanging out with others in THAT experience than with whites who are “THE MAN”. More to the point who more than anyone convinces people to distrust others outside their race? That would be the civil rights drum beaters more than anybody. Makes me throw up in my throat to hear him lecture whites on why they don’t want to hang out with people pre-programmed to treat you with distrust and disdain. That group extends beyond white people to the demonizing of Republicans. Being white, male and Conservative I have no desire to hang with anyone until I see signs they don’t have their own hangups about whites or Republicans. Not out of any hatred but just out of those traits being anti-thetical to an enjoyable friendship that merits my free time. Bottom line…why would I want to hang out with a guy with a world view like Holder? It ain’t cause he’s black. It is everything that they have decided goes into that package and God help the ones who try and leave the plantation.
Conan on February 18, 2009 at 9:44 PM
If he were honest, Holder would recognize that American history does recognize the contributions of Blacks as integral to our nation’s story. The Black historical, literary, and sports figures that he mentions are all part of school textbooks, sometimes at the expense of recognizing other important figures.
Some of the figures he mentions are not necessarily admirable and in fact are hostile to the ideals of our republic: DuBois (communist), Malcolm X (Black Muslim anarchist), Robeson (communist), and the Illinois poet whose name escapes me (communist).
As long as events like Black History Month are celebrated as discrete celebrations, there is no dialogue. When a person’s race or ethnicity no longer are the focus of discussion, then we have begun engaging people as people.
I’m not sure why this speech is being given by the Attorney General. He does seem to imply that there are two differing types of justice in our country. Does he intend to move the nation into affirmative action justice, too, in order to redress past grievances? I should hope not. Crime is color and ehtnicity blind.

onlineanalyst,
Don’t forget, blacks invented peanut butter and the golf tee.

There are, but it’s alot more than “two” and it’s a lot more complex than race.
This is one of those stupid things that white people always say that makes black people roll our eyes and shake our heads. When people say we should “not focus on race” they really mean “everyone should try and be as white as possible.” Their premise is the insanity that there’s no such thing as white people and that ways of being are not racialized. They totally are and to pretend otherwise isn’t being “color blind” it’s being naive and stupid. Being color blind says you judge each person as an individual and on their own terms. That means even if you think a person is wearing an outfit that looks like a “hoodlum” you reserve judgement on them until they actually DO something for good or ill. Very few white Americans look at a black kid in a hoodie and think “blank slate.” They project all kinds of fantasies (judging by this board, fantasies of being beaten up and/or raped) onto that person. That’s racism.

And let me guess, none of these studies place any sort of responsibility on the actual parties involved. Please, link to one of these studies, I am man enough to go along.
But I have also lived around the predominately black culture since birth and did have my own life experiences to draw from. Funny how all race arguments seem to exist only between black and white, as if there are no other races.
Seriously though, post a link. I am interested.

First link was broken and did not work. As for the second, I only said I’d buy data from an official government website.
DeathToMediaHacks on February 18, 2009 at 9:52 PM
I think you meant this link.
I wouldn’t hold my breath.

If you are going to quote me, please do it correctly. I never said I hated all blacks, that was your assumption, not my words. I only hate trolls…….
clinker46 on February 18, 2009 at 9:54 PM
Death,
I see you are black. It appears you may be getting a little defensive. You shouldn’t be. We can’t be cowards. We have to have this discussion. You may not like everything you hear, but your AG is demanding that we tell you like it is. Sorry.

“There is nothing more painful to me … than to walk down the street and hear footsteps and start thinking about robbery, then look around and see somebody white and feel relieved.”

Try to be as white as possible? What exactly entails being white to black people? And I thought you couldn’t simply define a culture by the skin color?
ClassicCon on February 18, 2009 at 9:56 PM
and those stats posted by progressoverpeace are bogus as hell as well …. tell me what cultural/ racial ? group is missing from the offender chart you run across as you scroll down …and what group are they included in …. wonder if anyone will figure it out

I access most academic journals through my job at a university (yes the stereotypes of the progressive college professors are true dammit!). Our journal access is controlled by a username and password. But here is one you can get access to if you’re willing to pay.
http://www.sciencedirect.com/science?_ob=ArticleURL&_udi=B6V98-3Y6HS7G-12&_user=10&_rdoc=1&_fmt=&_orig=search&_sort=d&view=c&_acct=C000050221&_version=1&_urlVersion=0&_userid=10&md5=d8ad16f082690d2a138ff79f1a626c0f
Most of the behavioural scientists have moved beyond “racism is bad” and from “black people are inferior” it’s only people in the media who want to race bait who still think about these issues in these ways. The premise is why do some kids make it out and not others? Why do some kids who seem to be on their way out of the ghetto, not make it out? Whats the connection between violence and teenage pregnancy? What’s the relationship between positive self image and teenage pregnancy etc. etc.

Before it gets too out of hand I would like to say that I respect Death as one of the more rational enemy posters on the site. I never agree with the guy, but he is not one of these driveby posters that posts and hides.
ClassicCon on February 18, 2009 at 10:02 PM
If Holder wants to talk about “cowards,” I’d like to see him stroll through East St.Louis at midnight. I think he would serve as an inspiration to the punks robbing and killing him.
Star20 on February 18, 2009 at 10:05 PM
and Death I never assigned or ascribed reasons for the behavior …. I just posted what they were ……. but how the hell do ya fix it ……… it ain’t money cause we sure as hell have poured a ton down that rat hole
Aggie95 on February 18, 2009 at 10:05 PM
Sorry, they have updated the Gov since I last downloaded the info. As you can see, the info is nearly the same.

I have never wrote disrespectingly of you, why are you so angry and full I hate? I just joined this site. I am happy to debate, but you are getting vile for no reason.

DeathtoMediaHacks,
i guess you don’t have an opinion whatsoever when you see a blond-haired, blue eyed girl talking on an iphone riding down the road in her mom’s mercedes, huh? funny how only white people misjudge….
or, when you walk into a convenience store and the owner is korean and speaks broken english…
or, when you see a homeless, old, white man that hasn’t had a bath in a month walking up and down the interstate talking to himself…
must be nice to be so perfect.
sandlin71 on February 18, 2009 at 10:06 PM
yep, another hip-o-crit, seems to me that the “people of color”, Mexicans, Cubans, blacks, Asians, etc are the biggest racist of all….
AMERICAN VETERAN on February 18, 2009 at 10:08 PM
Fair enough. I will see if my wife can get access. She is currently getting her PHD so may have access to the journal. Oh and just to up my cred she is specializing in sickle cell, and she is pasty white. I am some wierd irish, American Indian mix breed. Go figure…
I think all those goals are admirable, and worth discovering. I believe the “black people are inferior” attitude is no longer prevalant, sure you would disagree, however, I do feel that there are many whites who feel blacks sell themselves short by listening to the wrong leaders from time to time.

I’d have to be certifiably insane to take one scintilla of advice on how I spend my leisure time from the likes of the sleazy guy who got Marc Rich a pardon.
So far, how I spend my off-time is one of my few remaining freedoms.
