New AG Holder: When it comes to race, America is a “nation of cowards”
posted at 4:00 pm on February 18, 2009 by Allahpundit
So saith the first black Attorney General, appointed by the black president we cowardly Americans just elected — which, last time I checked, is one more than any European country’s ever elected — during a speech honoring America’s officially recognized Black History Month. The key bit comes about a minute in. There’s nothing shocking about this, unless it’s how pedestrian it is. It’s the same old nonsense about having an “honest” conversation on race, which typically means agreeing root and branch with the leftist position on any policy issue that touches that subject (e.g., illegal immigration) on penalty of being called a racist. The boss notes the irony of Holder uncorking this on a day when “civil rights leader” Al Sharpton is demagoging the hell out of the New York Post for an innocent cartoon, but there’s an irony even more sublime here: Obama himself did everything he could to avoid race during the campaign — aside from the occasional insinuation that McCain’s a bigot — until the Wright uproar forced his hand. He could have used his platform to push the issue front and center but he decided he’d rather get elected. Holder owes his job to that, ahem, cowardice.

Oh please, can not we talk about anything other than race????????????????????????????????????????????????

I knew a man, Objangles, and he danced for me
In worn out new deal shoes.
With short hair, a flashy shirt and fancy pants,
The old new deal soft shoe.
He tap danced so high, tap danced so high, then he lightly touched down.
I met him in a ward in Chicago, I was
So down and out.
He looked to be the Messiah of the age,
As he spoke right out.
He talked of hope, he talked of change.
But then he laughed and just clicked heels instead.
Mister Objangles
Mister Objangles

His remark that we are no different than we were 50 years ago is so rubbish. Wonder if he can explain why we have every color in the rainbow at my church every Sunday? Oh, and did I mention that we are in the middle of Georgia??? But then again, we are just ignorant backwoods people who cling to our guns and religion so what do I know. I do know that there is only ONE race, the human race and all these differences are cultural.
Food for thought: “Leading evolutionist Stephen Jay Gould claimed, “Biological arguments for racism may have been common before 1859, but they increased by orders of magnitude following the acceptance of evolutionary theory.””

Irony is indignant.
This from the first black AG, in an Obama Admin. in the U.S., not so many years after MLK had a “dream”.
MLK’s dream wasn’t realized, the lefties hypocrisy was, and this idiot talks like this.
As I said during the run toward Nov. 04 – the One will do more to ruin racial relations in this country than most progress made in the last 30 years. It’s on.

Mr Atty General,
When it comes to race, the rap industry is full of “race-pimps”, who call each other by the “n” word on a minute-by-minute basis, yet run crying to their lawyers when someone even dares to say “why do you say that?”.
So let’s just re-think this, shall we?
Plenty of non-black people, down through the ages, have helped to advance the notion that “all men are created equal”. Yet they are forgotten as quickly as yesterday’s fish-wrap. Why?

Au contraire, we can talk about it plenty.

And for the first time in her life Michelle Obama could finally be proud of her country. So steps in Eric Holder- Americans you should be ashamed of yourselves, and your Country you have nothing to be proud of you are a bunch of Cowards (Socialism 101) break down the Country’s moral- Think the opposite of what Reagan did, apparently the Obama administration is the anti Reagan.
This is from the Top Cop in the Land, this a blanket superficial, generalized criticism of the American Public it cuts a wide swath. I am a proud American, proud of the American People, and the Country. I don’t care what gender, color or creed they are. Eric Holder thinks he is some kind of oracle then on race relations? Don’t feel good about yourselves just because you elected the first bi racial President. Don’t you dare feel good about yourselves you-Cowards. This is going to be a long 4 years but there is a segment of our American Population, that deserves this, they voted them in.

Benign neglect of the topic is better to quote the late Senator Patrick Moynihan. It’s not cowardly to avoid an emotionally charged argument in a nation of such exquisitely honed victim hood and special pleading. Better to muddle along and try to make progress as Americans one by one. This is not cowardice it is a civil virtue.

I lived for quite a while in a country where, because of personal characteristics I can’t change, I was subject to ignorant, derogatory comments, deliberate rudeness, social isolation, etc.
Know what? I’m far from being “Mr. Personality”, but I overcame their fear with humor, self-deprecation, and patience. They never stopped me from achieving what I wanted to achieve. I’m pretty hard to convince that other people can’t get the same results, if they try. Blaming others for your failures is an easy escape from having to take responsibility.
Fools like Holder think they can capitalize on weak individuals who don’t want to take responsibility for themselves. They’re probably right, but it’s sad. Losers who sit around feeling sorry for themselves because they’re “discriminated” against need to get out more.

The term “African-American” is a segregating issue unto itself! I am not a “Irish-American!” I am an AMERICAN! I know one true African-American, and she is WHITE. She was born in Morroco and has dual citizenship.
The race issue is so bad that our local news was asking for assistance to help to locate a suspect in a murder. They refuse to tell the race of the suspect! That would be politically incorrect! How the hell am I supposed to know if I am looking at a wanted person when I am not allowed to know one of the most obvious identifiers of how he looks?

Sickening but, as you say, not surprising. We’ve been hearing these toxic adolescent fallacies and national slanders from the Left since the 60s — how America is repressed, uptight, cowardly, backward about all matters of race and sex. If we could only talk “openly”, have a “true dialogue!” They want nothing of the sort. We remember Obama’s Phiadelphia speech trumpeted as intending to open a “national conversation” about race; in reality it was a political 911 call. No “conversation” ever ensued. The speech was intended to end any possibility of conversation. It worked.
rrpjr on February 18, 2009 at 4:58 PM
Perhaps Eric Holder wasn’t paying attention during Barack Obama’s campaign and thus failed to notice the tenets of Trinity United Church of Christ under the tutelage of Jeremiah Wright. Just in case he missed it:
“We are a congregation which is unashamedly black and unapologetically Christian,” says the Trinity United Church of Christ’s website in Chicago. “We are an African people and remain true to our native land, the mother continent, the cradle of civilization.”
That’s just the beginning. The church has a “non-negotiable commitment to Africa,” according to its website, and its pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr. subscribes to what is called the Black Value System.
While the Black Value System includes such items as commitment to God, education, and self-discipline, it refers to “our racist competitive society” and includes the disavowal of the pursuit of “middle-classness” and a pledge of allegiance to “all black leadership who espouse and embrace the Black Value System.” It defines “middle-classness” as a way for American society to “snare” blacks rather than “killing them off directly” or “placing them in concentration camps,” just as the country structures “an economic environment that induces captive youth to fill the jails and prisons.”

I may be wrong, though. At the moment people seem fine where I live, however if guys like Holder and BO can’t get it right things could rapidly deteriorate. Obama did everything he could to avoid race during the campaign? Whaaaaaaaaaaat? He played race like a fine fiddle, using it to his advantage at every turn, if not directly, then through his surrogates. Granted, he used it smartly, but he used it just the same. AG Holder is right. How long are we going to continue to dance around issues such as race, tiptoeing through the tulips of bigotry. The more we talk, the more we see our own foibles, the more we laugh at the absurdity of our prejudices, the sooner the issues become non-issues. Good for Holder for talking truth.

Portrait of an insufferable jackass:
When [Ricky Holder] arrived at Columbia in 1969 as a boyish-looking freshman, he was recruited by upperclassmen to help take over the R.O.T.C. office. Armed with pillowcases and sheets, he joined several dozen students and christened the office as a student center named for Malcolm X.
Steven Sims, a close college friend, said, “It was very galvanizing because, for many of us, it allowed us to further develop and embrace our black consciousness.”
In school, Mr. Holder said, he chose to major in American history as a means to explore his own heritage and to use as a prism through which to examine current events.
Longing to escape the elite world at Columbia, he spent Saturdays taking underprivileged teenagers around New York City. He tried to expose the poor and predominantly black children living near campus to the cosmopolitan richness that had informed his own worldview.
“It just seemed incumbent on me, and many of us, that as students of color, we had to be engaged in this community of color that surrounded our campus,” he said.

He says that we as average people “simply do not talk enough with each other about things racial”.
Gee, I wonder why? Could it be that racial demagogues like this guy, Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson have created an environment so charged with racial greivance that white people tip-toe around any sort of racial topic so carefully so as not to offend.
Sad that he accuses people of being cowards, when their avoidance of honestly discussing racial issues is a direct result of the brow beating that these demagogues administer to anyone who veers ever so slightly from his idea of what is racially appropriate.
Scrappy on February 18, 2009 at 5:48 PM
Right, that’s what we need — more talk about race. We don’t hear enough about blacks’ never-ending grievances from organizations like NAACP and PUSH, or Hispanics’ never-ending claims of entitlement from organizations like La Raza. We need to focus on more racial grievances, real and imagined, because that’s what we’ve been lacking in recent years, right Holder?
We’ve talked about race to the point where a gang of black high-school thugs can lie in wait for a lone white kid, kick and stomp that white kid into unconsciousness, and then the black thugs are paraded on stages, showered with money, and hailed as heroes by the black community. We’ve talked about race to the point where a sleazy, drug-addled, delusional black stripper/prostitute can falsely accuse three white college kids of a violent gang rape, and a white liberal prosecutor arrests and charges the three white guys, despite a mountain of irrefutable evidence clearly demonstrating their innocence, and the black stripper/prostitute not only is not prosecuted for filing false charges, but gets a book deal and is held up by the black community as a “victim” of privileged white aggressors. We’ve talked about race to the point of insanity. It’s time to STOP talking about race and start trying to bring some sanity — or at least fairness — back to this country.

When you tell someone they are a victim long enough, they begin to believe it.
The true victims are the tax paying public that is forced to slop the public trough to keep millions of black freeloaders at the trough because they are not expected to work.
What the heck do you expect? What is needed is tough love, not a free check. Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder can see that. The race problem is upside down. Too many are like 40 year old teenagers strill living off mom and dad, except mom and dad are you and me.

Obama talked about it today in Mesa. He’s out there campaigning to take your wealth and it’s all about how angry he is at the real America. Joe the Plumber was right. You don’t have to be a Harvard graduate to figure it out.

Oh no!
They just shot Chimpy McBush up in Connecticut!
Time to call Al Sharpton…

The truth is that the very best thing that could happen to black people is to have the black culture vanish, and have them assimilate into the white culture.
That would be true world wide because the last time I looked, Blacks are in relatively sad shape world wide, especially where they are in charge.
If you noticed, the blacks that are respected the most by all races of the public at large are the ones that shed that perpetual victim mantra.

I got a race for Holder to join: the human race.

Where are all the Beltway Conservative Pundits who said that this was going to be a “Moderate” Administration?
Imagine if this was a White Attorney General who said just the opposite?
What a jerk. Oy Vey.

Look at the $hit this Obama guy as stirred up in only 1 month. I have spoken to some people that are really mad, and others that are really worried. The people that are not either mad or worried must be really stupid.
It will be interesting moving forward. I’m not sure the achievers and producers of this county will tollerate an endless drumbeat of this kind of hopeless change.
He seems smart enough, lets hope he settles down and learns about who it is that makes this country work and what works for them.

Holder wasn’t speaking to me…he was talking to the ‘Cowards’ of the Black Congressional Caucus and Affirmative Action participates…oh, and the ACLU. Holder is right, they’re a racist bunch of cowards.

I wish all the courageous patriots that now lie in Arlington Cemetery could rise to live for another 24 hours and appear en masse at Holder’s office. This is one of the most ridiculous statements ever made by an American government official. It is also an affront to the families the patriots left behind. And if Holder is trying to use the term coward in terms of bullying people, slavery ended in 1865. How long do whites have to atone for slavery. Another 1000 years?

He calls for a “frank” conversation but will call for hate crimes prosecution when he doesn’t like what he hears.
Disturb the Universe on February 18, 2009 at 6:25 PM
Is this just your personal feeling, or are you signaling the beginning of new prosecutions under US Code?
Are you announcing a new test for our freedoms of assembly? A gathering of blacks will be illegal if there are not enough whites present? Or vice versa?
So from your perspective, it was a nation of cowards that fought the civil war? It was a nation of cowards that rejoiced over the emancipation proclamation? It was a nation of cowards who went to Selma and Montgomery? It was a nation of cowards (mostly Republicans, as I recall) who passed civil rights legislation? It was a nation of cowards who elected a black president and let a black terrorist-pardoner be AG?
Eric, I think you didn’t get the memo: we are now living in the post-racial world that your boss promised us. If you didn’t get a copy of the memo, I can forward a copy to you.
